  • Why do so few sailors sail to Morocco?
    SAILING TO MOROCCO FROM LISBON, PORTUGAL
    In this episode, we sail from Lisbon, Portugal to Rabat, Morocco. Michelle takes a short trip to Alabama to surprise her family for Thanksgiving and we get Seefalke ready to head to the Canary Islands for our Atlantic Crossing. But first, we have to ask the question…why would anyone want to sail to Morocco?
    We have met many sailors who are bypassing this destination on their way to the Canaries, and we can't understand why?
    We battled fog and seasickness during our passage. After 369 nautical miles and about 75 hours, we had made it into Morocco and now it was time for us to learn why so many sailors skip this stop on their way from Portugal to the Canary Islands.
    Our first impressions were positive. We ventured into Rabat, took a day trip to Casablanca where we got to visit Rick’s Café, and we also took spent a day in Tangier.
    But would we recommend a trip along this route less traveled by sailors? We will explore Morocco in much more depth in the next episode to find out!

    I absolutely love watching your sailing adventures, BUT I think I would be terrified!!! HAHA! Side note I was in the Navy and love that you saw the carrier! I sent some time on the Lincoln (CVN-72).Yet it sounds like such an adventure! That dense fog was crazy! Both Lisbon and Morroco are on my list of places to visit!

    Thank you mam thank you captain...
    The other sailors sucks , you guys ROCK...
    If any sailor think sailing to Morocco is not safe, they should stick to shore close to a marina and eat frozen food and drink fake cockails .
    Glad i found this. share and like and promote..
    Sweet home Alabama .

    Great to hear about the tough times also. Glad the water's calmed and you got to feeling better. Tea during customs??? That's the nicest customs experience I've heard of :) It's so great to check off a bucket list item. Enjoy your stay!!! c/t

      Is there anything you can take to help with the seasickness? Glad it's gotten better at least.

      Yes we had AIS and it was a life saver. Highly recommend it. It’s not just about you seeing the other ships…but AIS makes sure they see you too!!!!

    Why would anyone visit alabama, or germany for that matter? Not exactly a flattering question, is it. On the other hand I think it's great a lot of ignorant people stay clear of this beutiful coast, and it's beautiful people. It's better that way. How you get along in the world is totally dependent on your own attitude 😄

    • @sailorsandseadogs
      @sailorsandseadogs  3 года назад

      Yes, if you watched the video you would see that we actually fell in love with Morocco!!!! We only asked the question because all the other sailors were asking it to us? We answered the question by recommending that sailors and other travelers should definitely visit Morocco! It’s one of my favorite places in the world!!!!!

    Hello
    Yes, it is true, few sailors venture across the land of Morocco.
    I think we have to be extra careful and at any time our boat will be searched by the police, after all Morocco is a producer of one of the most consumed drugs in the world.
    ...it's understandable

    Great video and attitude!
    I'm actually going to Morocco myself and came across one problem that you mentioned - drones are illegal.... I really wonder how you coped with that? Have you declared a drone on customs? Have they confiscated it or sealed on your yacht? Were you able to pick it up when you left Rabat to Casablanca?
    Thanks for any advice in that matter in advance :)

      @@sailorsandseadogs Thanks a lot for your help! Really appreciate it!
      We are sailing from Canary to Malaga and decided to stop over and visit Morocco and Gibraltar entering at Agadir and leaving probably at Tanger. I'll consider taking drone at all in this case.
      Good luck on future adventures!

    Africa Africa Africa, talking about it as if you are going to Sub Saharan Africa...you are going to Morocco lady, say Morocco

    • @sailorsandseadogs
      @sailorsandseadogs  3 года назад

      Thanks for the feedback. I must point out that Morocco is, indeed, in Africa. I had never been to either and was extremely excited about exploring Morocco, as well as other parts of Africa. Morocco was probably my favorite stop on the entire voyage.

      @@sailorsandseadogs Thanks for not taking my comment personally. I was born in Morocco and I live in Florida. I guess what I am trying to say is when people are going to France, they say " I am going to France" when they go to Spain they say" I am going to Spain" they barely say I am going to Europe. So saying that you are going to Africa is a little strange because Africa is big and every place in Africa is different. That statement also displays an American attitude about geography... many Moroccans actually do not like when westerners refer to their country as Africa because you know what the stereotypes come with that word. I hope I was able to clarify the thinking behind my comment...but great video overall

    • @sailorsandseadogs

      Yes no worries. That makes sense! In fact, I just realized that when people ask me where I’m from I always say “Alabama” rather than “US” 🤷‍♀️
