For the Romans at least, we can partially blame slavery for their technological stagnation. If they wanted greater results or yields, faster construction, produce goods more efficiently, etc, they could just use more & more slaves. This gave the Romans little incentive to think outside the box and experiment with mechanical innovations as anything more than novelties, just like that Steam engine that went nowhere. The thought of 'zombies' in ancient times always scares me. Imagine you're thought to be dead, come out of a coma and wake up tied down in a coffin. Horrifying
@@jonny-dp2qr a lot of vampire stories were relatwd to this. Assuming you don't believe in vampires, there is no other explanation for finger nail marks found inside coffins. People could be buried under an iron cage to keep the vampires in the coffins, or conversely sometimes a bell was used with a rope leading inside the coffin. If you woke up in the coffin, pull the rope and ring the bell. Hope somebody hears it and digs you up
@@Yatezylad don’t know much about the history of vampires so I don’t really have an opinion on them. I wouldn’t doubt a lot of people who were still living were buried under the presumption they’re dead. Imagine the feeling of waiting for ppl to dig u up after ringing the bell. Wild

Because there *clearly* is nothing more sane and logical as what happened in the Bible 🤯 This dude will sit here and watch videos for HOURS and HOURS, but CLEARLY has NEVER READ THE BIBLE. There is no way you could read that trash and still believe it unless you're an evil shite person...
It is a lavish villa. Not a lavishvilla. The reason why so many cultures have a flood story is easy to answer. It's because they copied each other's stories. And the origin of all the flood myths,to begin with, was most likely local flooding caused on a massive scale due to the glaciers melting. Also there's a hypothesis that one of the occurrences that caused flood myths was the filling of the Black Sea. The Black sea formed abruptly, as the bit of earth that separated the lower lying lands from the ocean suddenly burst or collapsed, due to erosion, or even seismic activity. To the people that lived in the area it would have seemed as if the whole world was suddenly swept away by a world spanning flood. And in a way that's what it was to them, their world. The only part of the world they knew was suddenly underwater. That could easily lead to many flood myths.
Fantasic video! Really well researched. I hate when people say "How could an ancient society have done this?" well they didn't have much else to do. May as well build pyramids and shit.
Right? They had hundred and thousands of people and hundreds and thousands of years with a single goal of building these massive, beautiful structures. They would’ve become incredibly skilled and inventive putting so much effort behind these projects. Sometimes I think humanity peaked during the BC years lol
I don't think the Pythia, or the Oracle of Delphi would use Oleander at all, to smoke or ingest otherwise, since it is so highly toxic, and not in a good or fun way either. Maybe Oleander was used somewhere in the ceremonials, but probably not to smoke or ingest. I suspect that the Pythia used something more along the lines of Atropa belladonna or Mandragora or Datura and/or another Solanaceous plant. Definitely something in that genus, most likely. If not those, then the fungus, Amanita muscaria, comes to mind as another substance or tool that the Pythia may have used for her divination purposes. All are native to the area and would have been well known and used by the Ancients. At least with those herbs and fungi, the Pythia would have hallucinated and had very colourful visions. When she was seemingly out of her mind, she would have begun making her predictions. As far as the Holy Prepuce goes, I am betting that someone probably ate it. Some random Medieval monk or someone similar got a hold of it and thought it might give him direct access to Christ, so he ate it. I am kidding of course. But really, who knows for sure? That is definitely an odd and bizarre relic. Perhaps it is best that it did go missing long ago. Just found your channel and am now subscribed. Thank you!

Haha thanks! I think its funny to see how the quality of audio/visual has changed in just 12 episodes too
Really appreciate you adding your balanced opinion to these. Love learning about all these myths without conspiracy theories or misinformation.
Thanks I appreciate it!
One of the most interesting videos I’ve watched. All throughout i didnt want to change to anything else. Great job 👏
Thanks I really appreciate this, means a lot!
What a fantastic video with a very impressive narrator/creator. I for one would definitely enjoy a video on the Amazon forest floor thing you mentioned.
The thought of 'zombies' in ancient times always scares me. Imagine you're thought to be dead, come out of a coma and wake up tied down in a coffin. Horrifying
Has probably happened a lot tbh
Wild
If you want to learn about vampires first, you need to understand the way corpses decompose. It gives a lot of tips about vampires' physical features.
People used to be buried with a string around their wrist, attached to a bell above ground. If a person was buried alive by accident, the bell could be heard by someone working the graveyard shift...or something like that.
Listening to this while baking at my shop thank you for making the workday smoother 🙏🏻

Hey, I just found out about this channel and I love this video! I'd love it more if you put the topic that you're talking about on screen for as long as you talk about it, so if I zone out and forgot what topic you're explaining I can just look back at the screen. Great video though, love your style
I didn't know about all those other "henges". Makes me wonder what ancient humans' fascination with gigantic rocks was all about.
fr
I mean talk to any 5 year old. Rocks are cool man. Especially the giant ones
its simultaneously so easy and so difficult to try and understand what they valued and why but when you look at it from the perspective of ‘there was butt fuck else to do’ it kinda makes sense. like yeah if i had nothin to do to pass the time i would probably start worshipping the stars and idolizing big rocks too.
My house is full of different kinds of rocks, some of us are still fascinated 😊

Christian dude, just wanted to say I appreciate the respectful handling of all these ancient mysteries. I'm not convinced everything happened as ancients claim, by any means, but it's refreshing to see someone kind of just explore the writings alongside the current theory meta with an even hand
Thank you so much I really appreciate that! Exactky what I’m going for
Jesus uses too much teeth when he gives head.
Not convinced that everything happened as ancients claim??
Because there *clearly* is nothing more sane and logical as what happened in the Bible 🤯
This dude will sit here and watch videos for HOURS and HOURS, but CLEARLY has NEVER READ THE BIBLE.
Appreciate the dedication to historical preservation 💪🏼
Fantasic video! Really well researched.
I hate when people say "How could an ancient society have done this?" well they didn't have much else to do. May as well build pyramids and shit.
Right? They had hundred and thousands of people and hundreds and thousands of years with a single goal of building these massive, beautiful structures. They would’ve become incredibly skilled and inventive putting so much effort behind these projects. Sometimes I think humanity peaked during the BC years lol
Automatons and early ancient computer tech is tight thanx man for all your research your a gem 💎
Thanks so much!!!!
This blew up nice job man!
Thank you I really appreciate it!
@@Historicalish of course! It was an amazing video :)
Thank you!
hard to believe it, but i did indeed watch this in one sitting because this guy is entertaining while teaching me. keep the vids up man( i lied i did not watch this in one sitting it took 2)

Olmec heads are closer to Polynesians than Africans. Which actually makes more sense, those guys were incredible sailors.
Not any polynesian ive ever met. And im nz maori, polynesian as. So a big nose and big lips means poly!?!? We never carved anything remotely like those heads. My research, 40 years worth, indicate the olmecs were a remnant of atlantis.
