I'm not sure I understand you complaint about the cave. Both Maximus and Wilzig were headed to the same place. It's not that wierd for them to have both stopped at the same place on the way there, any more than it was for the ghoul to already be in Filly and staking out Ma June's place. Honestly I'm not sure what you mean by 'plot convenience' or 'just done for the plot' I'm not a literary professor or anything, but isn't that how stories work? I'm sure there's a limit, but people randomly running into each other in early stages of a story really doesn't seem like it's pushing believablity much. Just my thoughts at least.
That's fair. I just felt like they could have given a better reason to be there. The only reason they were at the cave was because he "bored" and "wanted to shoot something". So he could have ended up anywhere and he just so happens to land at the same place as our other characters? That just seems too easy and just for the plot to move forward. Like if they where given the info that the target was going to be in Filly when they got his picture, that makes sense why they end up meeting everyone in Filly. But randomly stopping and happen to find the cave just seems ridiculous. That's all.

The turrets in the game are shit for accuracy. So yeah, you are supposed to believe the scientist didn't get hit. Lol.
