Gale: *spouting poetic descriptions of magic* Also Gale: *accidentally tells my Tav she stinks and then tries to fix it by insisting he likes that she stinks*
This video perfectly summaries how the aspects of their personality that make them an awkward mess and not function in society are precisely what makes them attractive, weirdly enough.
This is actually a really good analysis of love languages. I find myself identifying with Wyll who is actually unbelievably awkward, but is actively ignoring it with confidence by sticking to what he knows and what he's learned. Astarian is constantly Insecure of his own weakness so he puffs his chest and tries to look powerful to impress others and keep them at his side for security. Halsin has no concerns other than love and sex. A very simple and uncomplicated man. Then Gale. Who is trying desperately to... people. But, he read about this so he's is far too confident in his ability... which is actually kind of endearing because he's really funny.
Wonderful and astute analysis! I feel like Gale is so loveable because/despite of his confidence/cockiness because he can really back it up with his wit and power as a wizard with AOE 🤩 he is a must keep in party as my loyal advisor if nothing else
I loved Gale, as a socially awkward nerd he resonated the most with me so he was the obvious choice for my romance. Wyll came close though with those puppy dog eye(s?) not gonna lie
It's pretty interesting to compare their romance at the beginning vs at the end. Astarion, for instance, uses cheesy pick-up lines that sound like straight from cheap romance novels in the beginning of the story (and so does his fellow spawn Petras if you're alone). When something doesn't go with his seduction plan, he becomes at a loss for what to do. Towards his Spawn ending, he's a lot less theatrical; his praises are less flowery, but still with a touch of poetic and straight from the heart. His flirtations are still playful, but his hand gestures aren't as grand. Neil and certain devnotes both say that Astarion being super theatrical is a mask.

Halsin : "You aided a bear without knowing if it would savage you? hahaha true friend of nature!" Tav : *still dumbfounded from DILF emerging out of nowhere* "Oh yes friend of "nature" of course"
Genuinely, I'd happily date any of them. Don't know if that makes me easy or what it says about me, but they each have their own charm to them that I simply adore. The boyfriend selection in this game is top notch.
Omg this is just brilliant. They all are quite interesting. This video is definitely going to help make a few decisions. Gale is cute but a bit awkward. Astarion makes me swoon. Halsin ohhhh boy and Wyll just is an old soul.
Yeah, that's the first impression. Wait until you know about his ex and how he likes to smash in the astral plane with multiple copies of himself. (I love him regardless)
They're all such nerds. Horny nerd, nerdy nerd, hero nerd, other horny nerd. IRL they all scare me haha but in game Astarion becomes so sweet I can't resist. Plus he's hilarious.
Nerds in a DnD video game? I'm shocked!😮 However, I don't think some beer-swilling jock who thinks you need to get back in the kitchen would be as appealing to the game's audience...but there is always that one person who'd be into it!
The absolutely toxic, chaos goblin part of my brain that loves drama and wants pretty boys to fight over me wishes we could romance all of these lovely men simultaneously, causing a love pentagram of unholy design more volatile than Gale's Netherese Orb.
Gale to me is kinda like Tina from Bob's Burgers when it comes to flirting, both just so awkward but you still can't help but like them. Like literally, one of Tina's quotes is "time for my charm bomb to explode"... if that's not Gale, what with him always threatening to explode 😂
I am not ashamed to say that I’ve replayed this an ungodly amount of times. Astarion is just so chaotic and I love it and his arc so, so much. I need to give the other bachelors a chance too tho, they’re all so great 😭
This video seems to be more about showing their initial personality/quirks but nothing too deep because of spoilers. Halsin is overall very amicable and wholesome from the start, and Wyll and Gale especially are very charming & poetic, but open up a lot more once you romance them- the video shows Gale's "smooth enough for two" and attempts to openly flirt using his knowledge of books, but they're nowhere near his speech in the weave boat scene.
when you first meet Astarion, he pulls a knife on you 😭😭 but also, speaking with him later, he's more flirty (which he later admits was a manipulation to get you to fall for him -- though it backfires because he falls in love himself). anyway, it is just his nature! I thought the charming scenes I picked for the second half of the video were pretty good, but it's okay if you disagree.
Impeccable editing, beautifully teasing and capturing the essence of their flirting perfectly - I'll save this for an enraptured giggle on a sad day. Thank you.
I'd say Astarion's arc is more "he has to make active decisions to improve as a person while still receiving help and some guidance from others" rather than "I can fix/change him" since you're not the one solving every issue he has. Playing as Durge has him understand a lot of your predicaments over time the most due to being in a similar circumstance. His arc is about not exactly 100% triumphing over trauma, but learning how his experiences warped his views on love and sex and learning how to separate those and mend, reclaiming his emotions and sexuality. Astarion's flirt lines sound like cheesy pick-up lines from cheap romance novels, and it's something he had to learn. His spawn sibling named Petras uses eerily similar lines if you approach him and Dal alone. In his Spawn ending, though, his praises become less flowery, his gestures less theatrical, but straight from the heart as he realizes that he doesn't need to Ascend to be a better person as he already can do that by being himself. Wyll's is the most classic of the romances with his "old-fashioned" desire and enjoyment of getting to know the other person first and a courtly dance over, to quote him, "a loveless fling". I remember Lae'zel trying to get it on with him when neither of them are romanced and got disappointed when he just wanted to talk. In the middle of a lot of characters being fast at going for a romp, his is the most wholesome, imo. He also likes the idea of getting married. He's the closest thing to a classical hero (aside from Karlach), and so is his romance, like a knight in love. Even his loyalty and devotion are rather knight-like. Gale definitely is adorkable. Spending most of his time in books, fanboying about various topics, and trying to regain his footing after letting out an unintended innuendo made him endearing in a way. I can see why some players felt discouraged or felt insecure from pursuing him when his ex is a literal goddess. He's proud, but also deeply insecure. He's the epitome of a high INT, low WIS character. I'm rather fond of reminding him that he's more than enough being... well, him. He doesn't need to have a grand status or usurp anyone to prove that he's enough, even without his magic. And you're also enough for him. Welp, I ended up making mini-essays.
In my opinion, that's why Good Durge/Astarion is the best because it's less "I can fix them delulu" and more "Two murder clowns trying to be slighty more normal & it's actually kinda sweet"
Um, but you can actually help him change, you know. Not change him, cause that would be wrong and it needs to be his choice, but nudge him in the right direction and he goes full speed in that direction. His arc is beautiful if you play your cards right. Also Gale has huge potential for darkness of you don’t do the right things.
@@Kanikanihia Yeah. OP only saw the positive in others' romance, but not Astarion's and says it's an "I can change him" romance for "delulu girls" while also being delulu about, say, Gale's romance being only about him being adorkable without acknowledging that you can also help him change from being power-obsessed and insecure.
Some people want to date Asterion because they think he's fun, are endeared to his secret vulnerability, and like a challenge. Other people will literally pick anyone else over Asterion because they've dated an Asterion in real life and therefore know better.
I genuinely appreciate that you didn't include any of Astarion's performative flirty stuff for this video lmfao-- we get unfiltered, tried and true homicidal vampire for this

This edit was such an incredible surprise on my recommended 🤩 it did not disappoint. Serving satiating content for us who are hopelessly enamored with these men/this game ❤
I'm on my first run, mid-Act 2, romancing Astarion, because he brought me to Baldur's Gate 3 and I could not resist his sassiness. But gods below I think I regret not romancing Gale instead when I could. The man seems to be the embodiment of sweetness and fairy tale love. The Astarion to Gale pipeline is very much real.
haha sorry! i’m not super familiar with his romance - I played it up to the party at the grove & gathered some scenes along the way. seems like i missed some good quotes? 😅 (if it isn’t obvious, i’m much more familiar with Gale’s story 😇😅) i’m glad you enjoyed the video!
@@nullwhere Ahh yes, then it makes sense. He blesses you with his awkward dork side more if you romance him, or just focus more on him. lol Also especially from the second part of act 1 to act 2 and 3. Otherwise he has his mask on and just plays an act. Man has more layers than an onion, or Shrek I guess. lmao
ah!! I definitely need to have Astarion on my team more consistently. i really do love his humor, even though i play as a good alignment character all the time. 😅
My OC is a Chaotic Good, Half-Elf Druid, she's romancing him and I have 100 approval with him. lol I always play good aligned characters and I really didn't have a hard time getting his approval. At the beginning of the first act he's fresh from being Cazador's prisoner for over 200 years and his mind is still quite warped, he's confused, uncertain of who to trust and actually very afraid. A lot of the things he does then are motivated by fear and his eternal quest for freedom and safety. The basic things that get his approval are giving him support in his personal quest and humour. For real, the humorous, jokey answers when you are in a conversation with another NPC and he's witnessing it, will get his approval. He also approves of good choices, like recruiting Karlach, with whom he immediately identifies, also helping Tamlin gets his approval and many other such things. He judges you if you're doing some questionable things at Rosymorn monastery too, he distrusts demons and opposes allying with Raphael or Mizora etc etc. I'm trying hard not to spoil the game... lol but you get the gist of it. Also he highly appreciates getting out of conflicts without a battle, but rather with your wits. My Half Elf naturally has high Persuasion so I have a ton of Inspiration from him witnessing her get out of bad situations with her words.:))) Also the beautiful thing is that you will witness more character development from him if you do oppose him when he slips into his trauma mindset and wants to do bad choices. He respects you more if you stand up to your principles, rather than do everything to make him happy. He respects people who are free and have boundaries, because these are his ideals as well. Actually at the very end of his quest, without spoiling ahem, it will be easier is you're just friends to help him make the right choice, because in a romance he gets in this desperate mindset where he wants to pursue power and the wrong choice to offer a romanced Tav safety, wealth and stability. The responsibility of the romance makes him a bit harder to persuade towards what's better. If you are just his friend he feels more free to make the right choice. I love him as you can tell. Gonna end the essay here. lolol
@Kanikanihia thank you, that was so well said 💖 you absolutely are correct here; I could also see some of this (to a much smaller scale ofc) when I talked to him in camp, since I barely traveled with him. I also noticed this when i ultimately helped him defeat Cazador. On my very dopey heart-of-gold Oath of Ancients paladin, I violated my oath when I convinced Astarion to release the vampire spawn & allow them to live. I stuck by the choice & re-swore my oath, it felt that important. And the whole time, Astarion chose to do the right thing & I really respected him for that. I was thinking of all the stories left open-ended in Act 3, I really wonder what he chooses to do (if he doesn't ascend, and especially if the other vampire spawn live). It could be a really good opportunity for him to make up for the pain he inflicted when he was under Cazador's control. I hope that is in future DLC 😭
I admit, that i only romanced the guys so far really. In each play through i had someone else. But if i had to choose a favorite, it would be Gale. For several reasons clearly Gale. Sure you have to deal with him simping about Mystra in the beginning. But I’m a Mystra fan, so…. I’m cool with sharing. At some point my character managed to make him stop simping even. I feel it the other way around. Wyll is nice and starts off wholesome AF, but the ending gets weird if he goes to Avernus with Karlach. So i rather ship them. :D Astarion is pretty entertaining and flatters a lot because it is simply in his nature and due to his backstory. I can imagine many like that But Gale was my first romance and is still the best for me. I like his straight forwardness and wish he would speak more again in party dialogues, not overlayered by strong personalities like Astarion or Shadowheart for example. His whole story may seem awkward, but he also deserves attention from the developers. If you can work around it you can even get a wholesome ending with that charming nerd ❤ Sadly all those three are suffering bugs after patch 4, most of all Gale. Larian, please fix Gale^^
oh wow, i’m so glad that you all enjoy this video! 💖

Halsin : "You aided a bear without knowing if it would savage you? hahaha true friend of nature!"
Tav : *still dumbfounded from DILF emerging out of nowhere* "Oh yes friend of "nature" of course"
This made me want to romance Gale again 💜 He's so dorky omggg
Genuinely, I'd happily date any of them. Don't know if that makes me easy or what it says about me, but they each have their own charm to them that I simply adore. The boyfriend selection in this game is top notch.
Omg this is just brilliant. They all are quite interesting. This video is definitely going to help make a few decisions. Gale is cute but a bit awkward. Astarion makes me swoon. Halsin ohhhh boy and Wyll just is an old soul.
Gale 😂 also, I can’t believe he milady’d (I totally can, but… like, it’s cannon now)
amazing. now you gotta do the bachelorettes
For real
Thank you! I just published a video for the bachelorettes haha 😅

@@nullwhere Hell Yeah!! They did it!
The best accidental Otome Game
you know actually........... true 💀
Gale has such negative rizz, I need him so badly
Gale comes off as the most normal by far, I think. Just cute.
Yeah, that's the first impression. Wait until you know about his ex and how he likes to smash in the astral plane with multiple copies of himself. (I love him regardless)
@@thearcanamodernau8130 Hold on...
Astral plane, you say?
Same for me.
Halsin is just pure.
Halsin: I like ducks
Also Halsin: I think i'll have you now.
i should have included the “i like ducks” line lol
They're all such nerds. Horny nerd, nerdy nerd, hero nerd, other horny nerd. IRL they all scare me haha but in game Astarion becomes so sweet I can't resist. Plus he's hilarious.
For real
Nerds in a DnD video game? I'm shocked!😮
However, I don't think some beer-swilling jock who thinks you need to get back in the kitchen would be as appealing to the game's audience...but there is always that one person who'd be into it!
great edit. just really really heartwarming,
thank you!!
For real
The absolutely toxic, chaos goblin part of my brain that loves drama and wants pretty boys to fight over me wishes we could romance all of these lovely men simultaneously, causing a love pentagram of unholy design more volatile than Gale's Netherese Orb.
omg 💀💀
1:09 I didnt romance Gale yet but this convinced me to
They’re all such dorks I love them
Gale started flirting with me using book references and it was over for everyone else since 😭 of course a handsome bookworm will have my heart ❤
“You aided a bear without knowing if it would savage you!”
I mean… I had my hopes 👀
Gale to me is kinda like Tina from Bob's Burgers when it comes to flirting, both just so awkward but you still can't help but like them. Like literally, one of Tina's quotes is "time for my charm bomb to explode"... if that's not Gale, what with him always threatening to explode 😂
I am not ashamed to say that I’ve replayed this an ungodly amount of times. Astarion is just so chaotic and I love it and his arc so, so much. I need to give the other bachelors a chance too tho, they’re all so great 😭
A dating show with these guys would be hilarious 😂
I like how you didn't include Astarion's most charming lines, but instead his more toxic ones or else the others wouldn't be able to compete
This video seems to be more about showing their initial personality/quirks but nothing too deep because of spoilers. Halsin is overall very amicable and wholesome from the start, and Wyll and Gale especially are very charming & poetic, but open up a lot more once you romance them- the video shows Gale's "smooth enough for two" and attempts to openly flirt using his knowledge of books, but they're nowhere near his speech in the weave boat scene.
when you first meet Astarion, he pulls a knife on you 😭😭
but also, speaking with him later, he's more flirty (which he later admits was a manipulation to get you to fall for him -- though it backfires because he falls in love himself). anyway, it is just his nature! I thought the charming scenes I picked for the second half of the video were pretty good, but it's okay if you disagree.
The "smooth enough for two" line fucking gets me EVERY TIME. Laughing, kicking my feet...awkward laughing. I'm a mess xD
Gale had me DYING in this video. 😂 Amazing job! I've still only ever romanced Astarion... 😅
thank you!! Gale is my favorite, if it wasn’t obvious haha
His love story is also soooo sweet😭💖
WHY AM I JUST FINDING THIS
Impeccable editing, beautifully teasing and capturing the essence of their flirting perfectly - I'll save this for an enraptured giggle on a sad day. Thank you.
Like most people, I am a straight-up Astarion fan.
Fyi ladies, wyll says his transformation was not exclusive to his face 😏
oh my gosh! this was so cute! great edit! i love them all so much!!!
Wyll actually has the like fluffiest romance, Gale is adorkable and Astarion is for you “I can change him” delulu girls out there
I'd say Astarion's arc is more "he has to make active decisions to improve as a person while still receiving help and some guidance from others" rather than "I can fix/change him" since you're not the one solving every issue he has.
@@oceanicGrimalkin …its a joke. One that clearly went over y’all’s heads
Gale is just so cute. Love my little nerd.
Some people want to date Asterion because they think he's fun, are endeared to his secret vulnerability, and like a challenge.
Other people will literally pick anyone else over Asterion because they've dated an Asterion in real life and therefore know better.
Gale❤
This is the best thing on the Internet I've seen today!
In a while!
I genuinely appreciate that you didn't include any of Astarion's performative flirty stuff for this video lmfao-- we get unfiltered, tried and true homicidal vampire for this
The editing on this is so flawless I've been fighting for my life in my cubicle trying not to laugh
LOL Gale is such a loser I love him. His line at the end was perfect he truly is charming. My socially awkward magic nerd boy 😂😂😂
gale's romance scene in the weave is the absolute BEST.
This is ART
I DON'T KNOW WHO TO CHOOSE
there are no wrong answers (but the correct one is Gale haha)
I thought I would always pick Halsin. Then I got to know Gale and all his goods and bads...
yeah I feel like Gale is massively under-appreciated (but also i’m pleasantly surprised by all the Gale fans in these comments!! 😅)
The *and waterdeep on the thumbnail was enough to make me laugh but the way you edited this together, oh my god
they are all SUCH losers (affectionate) this was so cute lol
This is a wonderful video! Some moments made me blush and others made full on cackle with delight. I would love if there was a version for all the lovely ladies in BG3 ❤
This edit was such an incredible surprise on my recommended 🤩 it did not disappoint. Serving satiating content for us who are hopelessly enamored with these men/this game ❤
haha thank you, i’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Now you’ve gotta do a bachelorette video
Oh my gods, this is brilliant. I couldn't stop laughing, especially at the "Sharran confusion" bit.
Ugh, I love Wyll. I need more people to appreciate him, he’s amazing.
Such a good video btw!!!
Thank you!! And I agree, Wyll is wonderful & needs more recognition!!
Gale truly showcasing in full open glory what Autistic Rizz means
*Sharan Confusion* with the zoom in on Shadowheart's reaction to Gale trying too hard slayed me so bad I had to pause the video.
I am a Gale fan all the way and this made me laugh
You are a damn genius and an artist, this was worth the time I spent watching it on my lunch break.
GALE IS KILLING MEEEEEE
The way Gale makes me giggle.... adorable!
Wyll enthusiasts RISE
These guys are so unbelievably awkward and hide it to differing degrees of success. I love them.
Yesss! same haha
Halsin seems so sincere.
This had me giggling away because i am SMITTEN I need more of this content
All the above, your honor 🙋🏾♀️
Gale. Just like my irl husband, I can’t resist a nerd who also makes me laugh with silly jokes.
i love gale’s lack of rizz
Gods I love Gale and Wyll! They are so wonderful!❤
yes they are both so sweet!! 💖💖
Oooh nooo where’s the awkward, dorky Astarion moments? He has so many it’s unfair to leave them out!😂
Absolutely hilarious video! Thank you!❤
haha sorry! i’m not super familiar with his romance - I played it up to the party at the grove & gathered some scenes along the way. seems like i missed some good quotes? 😅 (if it isn’t obvious, i’m much more familiar with Gale’s story 😇😅)
i’m glad you enjoyed the video!
My Half Elf naturally has high Persuasion so I have a ton of Inspiration from him witnessing her get out of bad situations with her words.:)))
Also the beautiful thing is that you will witness more character development from him if you do oppose him when he slips into his trauma mindset and wants to do bad choices.
Wyll dancing oh my god I’m crying that’s so fucking funny with the music going 😂😂😂
This really helped capture the appeal of each!
Astarion is pretty entertaining and flatters a lot because it is simply in his nature and due to his backstory. I can imagine many like that
But Gale was my first romance and is still the best for me. I like his straight forwardness and wish he would speak more again in party dialogues, not overlayered by strong personalities like Astarion or Shadowheart for example. His whole story may seem awkward, but he also deserves attention from the developers. If you can work around it you can even get a wholesome ending with that charming nerd ❤
Sadly all those three are suffering bugs after patch 4, most of all Gale. Larian, please fix Gale^^
