- Thanks to Ogotu for contributing the sound effects!
At long last, this video completes a series I began when this game was still the only Myst release that was rendered in 3D. Now that two subsequent 3D versions have been released, this one is now the red-headed stepchild and Cyan likes to pretend it doesn't even exist.
Still, this game is uniquely entertaining to fly around in because of the strange way it was cobbled together. Besides, I promised I would finish this series so I did.

My Final Deep Thoughts is the weirdest section ever.
Well, impressive work as usual, Shady. And now, you're finally free of the flymode series, removing a heavy weight from your shoulders. Congratulations and bravo, Shady. And also bravo to Ogotu for helping Shady. Have a good day, night and one, Shady, and all.
Man the more I know about myst the more I like it. Thank you for getting me in to it all those years ago
Thanks for this series Shady. I'm amazed this was first started about 8 years ago, feels so much more recent than that. I'm sure you're real happy to finally be done with it, haha, but thanks for all of it!
Outstanding! The editing on that last section must have been a lot of work!
Thanks! It was about a third of the time I spent on the video as a whole, so one of the three months.
I know you put an enormous amount of time and effort into making these videos the absolute best they can be. Those "huevos" were really, really cool to see. Thanks for creating, sticking with and finishing this unique series Shady.
As soon as I saw the library bookshelf, I knew that there was going to be trouble. XD
omg... The DrunkenShadyParadox....
Everything about this game scared me when I was little
Very impressive and entertaining as always. Very well done!
"It would've been a nightmare to cover such an open 3D space with the older methods." -Literally Cyan probably, when rendering Channelwood
(Sorry for so many different comments. I guess I've really gotten into this.)
I didn't correct you, because that's also how I pronounced Selenetic. Also, the Myst book is easy to get to and the pages take more work. I just assumed that was intended. As a player, it was an eerie and fun subversion.
I actually think I remember noticing the water building changing while it was out of view, or sensing it somehow. That might be a hard claim to believe.
1:04:00 That's not the best known rendition. If you extract the huevo and vika images using Riveal, that's where you get the most accurate rendition.
I had no trouble accessing the resource files, the issue is that multiple images must combine according to a certain algorithm to decrypt the images. Does Riveal give that algorithm?
It can extract the individuals frames using the correct algorithm. But I think it has to be able to recognize the files as being the huevo.avi and vika.avi files from realMYST and not just some random .avi files. It doesn't tell you what the algorithm is, but I know it's the right one.
The original Mac version of myst is the only one that I would play
