They'll keep doing it as long as it's profitable, I'm sure they have a set amount(to reach) and they reach it. They are giving more tickets now to incentivize small spenders to get the skin as well, and try to get F2P players to at least buy the $4 pack for a small chance at the skin.
If they keep this free ticket practice from now on, then maybe...

I got burned on the drake skin and haven’t done one since. I put $40 or $45 into the racer drake gacha and the gacha just felt fake, idk how else to explain it. I even passed on the Dorothy one and I’ve used her since I got her on my account day one. I’d rather them release the skins for a flat price.
maybe they angry because they announce for stellar blade will have no microtransaction for accessory etc while we have two gacha skin well i got baited bcause the 5th pull got the second tier 2 prize (advance recuit voucher)

Low amounts of players means your game dies whales can't save that. @@kek6930 whales keep a game on life support very different they don't keep a game going. It needs a thriving playerbase and a good way to make them leave is poor monetization practices. Its literally basic math 20 whales spending huge amounts isnt nearly as much money as 1000s of players spending 20 to 10 dollars on a consistent basis.
Nikke is still going because it has tons of players and has one of the biggest numbers of downloads in the genre. But sure whales can stroke their ego if they like.
u all forgot shift up going to be listed as publicly traded stock. that is how they keep their stock price....at the end of the day it is a commerical product.

I think the bigger problem is that crowns base form is mid af like Emilia from the collab but the gacha skin is sexy. Hope this doesn't set a bad pattern where they wont let you get a sexy character unless you buy the related gacha skin but it is a gacha game so i dont expect anything lol.
It's just wild to pause for a moment and think back to now. We've gotten to a point where we not only have $60 skins. But people will DEFEND it tooth and nail. As if they themselves had a massive stake in the company. It's weird.
With that said, I'm not loosing sleep over it. Now I would've preferred they didn't put Modernia's progress as a character, behind it. But alright.
Defending the gacha skin?! Where?? The previous gacha skins were folks bitchin and moaning, but nobody is literally forcing you to buy it.. hell, you're NOT even locked out of ingame content.

@@kuvjason7236 You are literally defending the existence of gatcha skins by saying its not locking you out of in-game content. Which it's great that gacha skins don't. However, if the gotcha skins price were cut in half and made guaranteed I'm sure a lot more people would buy them. Instead Nikke (and its not the only company that does) uses FOMO and the chance of not paying full price to get its players to spend. Customers have a right to not like such a strategy.
@@RaginCanadian-gx2zl I'll defend the gacha skins, sure the price is a bit on the steep side, 20 would be more reasonable, but before we had paid customization, we had nearly no customization.
A lot of industry artists are employed thanks to this, and old units can keep getting skins.
10 years ago this would've been a one time thing, every character in Nikke would have their base skin and nothing else.
What I oppose is convenience micro transactions, like when you have 1 save slot and you have to buy your second save slot. Or when you can run faster or hit harder after opening your wallet.
Further more, you don't need the skins for anything, it's there if you think it looks cool, it's not a pokemon "collect them all" thing, even further, if you have modernia, and you enjoy playing with her, she looks perfectly fine in her original skin.

If they wanted to make it 60 then it should be direct purchase and include mutliple 10 pulls as well as gems and growth materials to make it worth more than 20 cause no skin is worth more than another.
A lot of these practices are similar to what tencent normally does. While I don't know how much influence tencent has on shift up, nor does it excuse the practice, it's not surprising. Looking at games like pokemon unite where some skins are $40 with no added extra (Ignoring battle passes), I do expect this practice to continue
Even Hoyo has been doing this for years in Honkai 3rd. In HI3 the skin gacha is arguably even more expensive at around $100 worth of crystals, but the main difference is in HI3 you can spend f2p crystals so if you're fine with pulling less on the banner you can still get the skins without spending money.
@@michaelman90 Honestly a shame we can't do that in Nikke, but with shiftups history being Destiny Child, I doubt we'll ever get that again. Destiny Child was apparently very f2p, but eventually became eos. I doubt they'll ever introduce a method to roll for gacha skins simply cause they figured whales will pay for any price and they're needed to keep the game alive
There will be at least one more skin... one that makes her look like she does at the beginning of the game. Unless they release her as an alter which would make more money for them.
That's my confusion about this whole thing is if they just released this as an alter form there would be absolutely no complaints. Crown already has a gacha skin so the skin bros are happy, lore bros are happy our girl Marian is growing up Everyone wins and shift up absolutely PRINTS money I don't see why they didn't just have this as a transformation or just make it not tied to her new personality and is just a new outfit crown gave her since her old one was still a heretic outfit. I hope they do another transformation when she is back with the commander or else imma be even more disappointed that her big character moment is a skin and it's not even because she's protecting the one she cares most about
im not sure, but looking at the comments so far, the fact that it feels like quite a few actually gotten it, means dev will continue doing it, since it shows, and it earns them $, so yup...

Yeah honestly if I wanted to spend that kind of money on skins, I’d spend it on interactive skins that are on Aether gazer or snowbreak. Looks up yingzhao office skin from AG or enya nurse skin from SCZ if hadn’t seen them. Honestly the fact I’d have to spend double the amount of money as what mentioned earlier just to make crown look good in the first place is 100% scam. And as mentioned in the video, if this was new outfit for modernia/Marian in story too expensive, imo just should’ve released new upgraded version of modernia. Sorry for long comment here

I was actually a spender back then I buy monthly, event pass, $20 adv ticket package every new event, but I stop spending after 0.5 anni cause guess what happens after that, they implement gacha skins.

Alchemy Stars now does it right, gacha skins are 30 instead of 60. Gacha skins shouldn't exist anyway though, if Nikke had any sort of price disparity instead of everything costing $20 it wouldn't be an issue.

Who cares about a skin, you dont need this, this gacha game is amazing, as long as devs dont ruin the game that's fine to me, if some people are williing to spend on skin thats fine they are supporting game this way. On another hand i think skins are expensive mostly because gacha pulls are fair, when other gacha's just make money from 0.03% Ssr pulls.

While it's still bad practice, the price of both gacha skins are $50 individually since everyone gets a free 6x tickets from both
@@BarneyGoogl it does, because the amount of tickets required to pull goes up. It starts at 1 ticket per pull(1 dollar) and goes up to 6 tickets per pull (6 dollars)

$60 skins are so expensive for a skin in nikke, theres not much interaction with it unlike Azur lane. Im all about supporting the game to keep it flowing but other games do more for less. Just make them 18+ atp. To those who argue or disagree, this is why cooperations win while we get poorer.

A lot of people in my server got the Modernia outfit cuz it’s their profile pic. Including me lmao. Wasn’t all bad, I also got advanced pulls from it so it was worth.

Seeing way too many people having to go all the way to get the skin. If the rates are legit, they're just way too low. Crown's is amazing, but I'd pay $30-40 at the most, and even that's a lot. Modernia's should just be free for the 1.5 anni.
Honestly I don't even want modernias new transformation as a skin it sets a bad precident since its tied to her story development they should have just made it an alter form for her. I mean we have alter scarlet and snow white. Why doesn't modernia get one? And the prices are outrageous tbh it's why I can't bring myself to spend anymore on this game it just keeps getting more greedy. 4 skins for the Anni ffs but only one character banner. Why is there 2 gacha skins, lol. Because Nikke made 14M with a collaboration while their counterparts made over a 100 plus million in a singular month. It’s a business at the end of the day.
