She was talking about giving C some tips and getting into her circle. L gave her props by offering her to spar. Wisdom and experience beats youth and agility any day. L didn't want to fight her, she wanted to see if she had the heart to stand in front of a legend and learn something. It's called respect on both ends, something people didn't learn or get taught recently.
As if Clarissa is not currently coaching with the BEST in the sport, who are all of age garnering knowledge and wisdom along their journey that they impart onto Clarissa. What will she learn from sparring with Laila that she doesn't already know atm?

Claressa was more accomplished than Laila coming into the pro ranks, so for her to just be a "sparring partner" may have seemed demeaning to her. Not saying I agree with that, but I wouldn't be surprised that's how she took it especially when she was already working with fighters like Ward etc.

She took on boxing pretty early in her life and forged her own path. She was a pretty good boxer but not a exciting boxer. I can't say I've watched one of her fights and her highlights are pretty boring.

More tutelage and training (footwork and punching angles), with that power and they could be a force to be heavily dealt with.
