If you fail the Final Eddie Low mission but manage to disarm Eddie´s knife, You get a scary Mission Failed text "Eddie Low is still out there...Waiting" instead of "Eddie Low got away"
Wow, you know, I never knew about this. I even watched the "all possibilities" video from another content creator about this character and I must've missed seeing that detail. How crazy Rockstar went on this character is absolutely speechless.
Jacob is awsome for how respectful and genuinely loyal he is to Niko. He’d come with him for certain important missions to watch Niko’s back, and he feels like a true friend.
That is why Niko is the best GTA character. He saw the most screwed up people in GTA but still can keep himself together. I guess only an army veteran can keep that composure.
Roman's sorrow sounded so authentic, his voice breaking up as he lamented the loss of the engagement ring he wanted to show off sounded SO genuine. Superb voice acting.
Roman is just the reflect of how hard life is for immigrants in the US believing in the lie of the American dream. They try to impress people in their home countries but in reality they barely make ends meet.
@@NotAJ voice acting, characters were written exceptionally well, gameplay, mechanics, physics , it was the peak of what gta is supposed to be. great side characters both good and bad side characters. i loved jacob and packie for example, but hated brucie and dimitri. not because they were annoying, but because their voiceactors put in such incredible work that they actually felt like real characters. the humor is great in this game aswell. gta iv = the pinnacle of what gta is supposed to be. and then they came with grand arcade auto 5...... wow. downgrade, after downgrade, wrapped in more downgrades in comparison to iv.
@@deathrager2404 nah GTA V is actually really good if you really sit down and play it, the story is written super well and greatly detailed, it;s just overshadowed by the money generator that is gta online
"when you walk into a village and you see 50 children lined against the church wall each with their throats cut and their hands chopped off you realize the creature that could do this does not have a soul" this line from Niko still haunts me to this day its made even darker by the fact the war Niko fought in was real and this scenario could've very well actually happened
@@triadwarfare while GTA protagonists arent saints and niko is only rivaled by trevor in ruthlessness i dont think rockstar would have us play a guy who killed 50 children and even nikos not that evil
Roman's Sorrow is the peak dramatic moment, beautiful culmination of the first and the best act. At the same time, the dialogue and performance make it truly relatable and believable.
Roman’s Sorrow is truly heartbreaking. Like I said, you hear the anguish taking place. He goes from being very outraged at the situation, then, seconds later, he desolates.
Same here. I also think it’s one of the peak missions. You also get to unlock a new area. Not also what makes this mission incredible. It’s one of the best not as good as unlocking the second island though, but still both islands are my favourite both Bohan and Algonkin are my favorite.
@@radioactiverat8751I think Niko does care if he lives, obviously he would just let the Russians kill him if he didn't care about his life, I think hes just so numb to the life of crime and thinks Americans have it easy in liberty city compared to the shit he's been through.
@@santosarr I Think Rockstar didn't wanted people to be exposed to the dark side of the world anymore, so they made GTA V more enjoyable about great things of life.
@@Dr_CJ_ Rockstar already exposed people to the dark side of the world with Carcer city in the game Manhunt. Carcer city is even mentioned by Michael in GTA V which makes Manhunt cannon to the GTA universe.
fun fact: At 17:59, Mrs. Faustin offered niko tea and throughout the whole story, this is the only time he accepted an offer or a drink from someone which is wholesome in a way
Kind of strange that so much attention is turning back to GTA IV. I remember playing this game on day one and was amazing back then, and holds up almost untouched by time. GTA 4 is probably my favorite out of all of them, and I'm pretty much at the end of the game for the second time in 10 years or more. One of my first memories was playing the first GTA on the PS1 at the foot of my moms bed, and I grew up with the franchise from there
Wow, thank you for sharing that here on the video ❤️ Reminds me about how this game also got attached to me. My sister is actually the one who got me this game when I was younger. I was just 8 years old when it came out. I desperately asked my mom and dad for the game on my PS3, for which at the time is when I was playing Metal Gear Solid 4: GOTP. My parents said no. But my sister snuck it for me and spent her work money on it. What an amazing memory for me. This game holds true to my heart.
No problem, it's a core memory that actually got brought up & discussed recently so I guess it was on my sleeve. I can tell you had an awesome sister. Shout out to her! I remember how difficult it was to get some games back then. The days @NotAJ
I think it would be even creepier if they counted Eddie Low as another victim of the serial killer, which means that liberty city thinks that the player is the serial killer
What's really creepy is if you don't kill Eddie the first time he tries to attack you and he gets away, a failed mission screen will appear along with the message "Eddie is still out there.... waiting...".
Unlikely.. it wont count because a serial killer has an M.O and methodical in his killings.. after all, a serial killer is creature of habit, and its always their downfall.. also, eddie low has already confessed to the killings, can assume he did proudly like so many other real life serial murderers.
Couldn't have said that any better. And look how long it took them to just exceed this from their previous GTA title before this? Took only a very little number of years and it has the one of the largest sets of voice casters in any video game.
The Darko fate one is a win/lose situation... Morally you did the right thing, Darko will have to live with the guilt. However, if you were tracking someone down for all those years and dedication you would've done those 12 bangs. Gra 4 was an art
@Darkwear-vr8biwell yeah, it’s pretty obvious that the one where u don’t kill the guy is the win in that scenario, nobody is saying it’s a bad thing to spare the guy
Killing darko is morally right. Retribution is justified in his case. There's no guarantee that darko won't get some therapy and start feeling good about himself again.
@Darkwear-vr8bi that is hindsight no way to be sure that would be the result b4 sparing him. And dying from an overdose is too peaceful a death for him in my opinion.
Eddie Low,The serial killer from RDR2, and the Manhunt series shows that Rockstar really knows how to write psychopath killers in a truly disturbing and unnerving way
I wish you added the conversations between niko and packie during their hangouts. There's 2 that I can specifically remember. Packie talks about a time Gerry and Francis had the absolute worst fight of all time. Gerry nearly Killed Francis and the way he describes it makes it sound so brutal. Kate was only a child when she witnessed this crying in a corner, their mother witnessed it but just remained silent and emotionally destroyed by what she witnessed. Another conversation Packie gets a bit emotional as he's talking about how him and Gerry were molested by their father when they were kids. That's why they hate him so much even in death. Their father killed himself shortly after. Packie thought for a long time that Gerry must have killed him but realised that the drunken bastard most likely killed himself. And the amount of times the children witnessed their own mother being beaten to near death by their father made packie question why she still leaves a plate for him at the table given that he's been dead "not long enough" according to Packie
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on what you believe were also some dark moments in the storyline. I do agree that this actually does make Top 10. I can't believe I'd miss that. What a sad story in the McCreary family, honestly. Their own brothers sometimes don't care about each other (such as Francis to Derrick, etc.), the father they had was abusive, and the family relationship they all have has torn Kate apart, making her exit a sad story.
@@NotAJnah man you're all good. I get it there's so much content within this game that it's incredibly difficult to find everything. There's youtubers still finding new content to this day whether in game or cut content (excellent video on the cut phone calls by the way) so no ones really expecting 11 out of 10 things to be listed 😂. It is still a fantastic video even without it, I just wanted to bring it up in case you didn't know because like our drunken friend Mel says "it's good to share" haha. So keep up the good work. And what you said about the Mcrearys, tell me about it man. Their entire lore can possibly make for a really interesting video just centered around them if you ever feel like it'll be fun to make one. Though... depressing is more accurate given the context. Their past honestly makes me understand why and how they all turned out the way they did. Packie being addicted to coke, Gerrys drinking problem and Derricks unfortunate demise in Ireland leading him to be addicted to heroine and alcohol. A horrifically depressed mother who had to witness absolutely anything bad that could happen to her family, happen right in front of her with her not being able to do anything about it out of fear. Kate on the other hand, it's like Packie said, "Kate's the only decent one" but I do believe her being religious would have been more of a cry for help. That was her only option. She's in denial of a lot of things but still sees right through everything involving her family, even though she wishes she could be completely oblivious. A choice to force herself to live in denial as a coping mechanism makes her just as tragic as her brothers. But Francis..... he is the worst. Arguably not as bad as his father but he is without a doubt 2nd to the worst. A clergyman who was stealing from his own church, gets caught, becomes a cop, makes you go after a lawyer (unless there's actual proof about him being a horrible person from anyone other than this lying scumbag that I couldn't find/remember) who sounds like someone who actually wanted to make the world a better place, just for evidence against him. Not bad enough, he forces you to kill his brother who, while yes desperate for help and in incredibly bad shape, still treated you with kindness and respect... only because he was scared that Derrick would rat him out and prevent him from becoming commissioner. His own brother. And manipulates you with that "he's already dead just put him out of his missery" bullshit. And as an extra layer on this shit icing cake, he treats you like shit since the moment he asks you to meet with him at the pier then pretends to act friendly to get you to do his bidding. F uck him. It's because of this I always assassinate his ass. Only depressing part is it kills their mothers soul again because at the end of the day he was her son. Also that little shit convinced her he's "always been a good boy" so she genuinely believed out of all the brothers he was the only good one. Just terrible. And Kate does not deserve to die especially after all that's happened in her life. Her brothers and their mother do not deserve that type of pain. Not anymore. Especially her mother. Stockholm confused grief for her dead husband, two sons are addicts, one is in prison, one is dead (based on Packies conversation in GTA 5 Derrick ends up dying at some point after the story regardless of your choice so another son dead and probably from an overdose), having her lose her only daughter too.... fuck... that. Doing the deal is my only option personally. As much as I hate that rat Dimitri, as much pain that it'll bring Niko, Mal, and his friends with Roman dying, that family has suffered too much. Both terrible options but I can never stop thinking about that family throughout all my playthroughs (except the first since I had no idea that was going to happen and I needed my sweet revenge). For me personally, the price of revenge is not worth bringing that family the absolute worst pain imaginable after what they have all been through. And on a side note, unless I'm missing something, Packie calls you crying after her death (which genuinly hurt) but Francis never says shit about her. All he sends you is an email on the LCPD database... piece of s hit. Shit... I'll shut up now 😂
@@mirekned9989I love GTA IV like no other GTA game. And I also love how you took your time to type all of this. As much as I love Roman and even tough it's (probably) canon that Kate dies and not Roman, I also like the Revenge ending more. Not just because that Kate gets to live and Packie still got his sister but I also believe it makes the ending more impactful. Plus killing Dimitri in the final mission just seems more cooler and dramatic since he's been the villain throughout the whole game.
the older i get the more i respect this game, i remember when i was younger just playing it for fun, later paying some attention to the story and then taking the story completely seriously and it just hit me like a truck, like it has so many details that i didn’t notice before on previous playthroughs, i realized that the game is genuinely “scary” and intriguing (in the way of life, the stuff that happens in the game and what people are capable of) and i respect it more and more with each yeah passing
I was the same way, because I first played this when I was 8 years old. I was around this age when the game came out. So having played the story mode at that age was kind of like “eh, I could care less”. But growing up, and now being 24, it’s easy to see how remarkable this game is and how truly underrated it is for its awesome writing by Rockstar 👏
@@NotAJ oh yeah i just remembered that when the game came out and for a few years after that people hated the game for its realism but that turned around thankfully and people actually realized the worth of the game, but because people didn’t like it very much we lost johnny klebitz in gta 5 for a gag which is sad because he was a good character and gta 5’s story was much much less serious but still good in some parts like with michael and franklins past, but i will always prefer gta 4 multiplayer to gta online because i like having fun and not grinding all day, but atleast they included gay tony in gta online dlc as of now so they still acknowledge their past, but i still prefer old rockstar developing games, trying risky ideas and publishing more than 1 game in half a decade instead of milking a single game for every stinking cent it’s worth
if you finish the ending when Roman dies and you kill dimitri, you can call everyone you can. Kate promises to help you, but in-game weeks later she will break up with you and you can no longer call her again. I find that more painful
In all my playthroughs, I couldn't let Roman die in the ending, without even knowing about his mother, now I know I did the right choice. Bro deserves a happy life.
The mission where you choose between killing Francis or Derrick was the hardest emotionally for me: Derrick's life was already in ruins it seemed killing him puts him out of the misery he endures, but still he fears of his life that he calls for protection. Francis had a promising future in the LCPD along with the threat of having "Dirts" on Niko and exposing them should Niko disobey him. For me, killing to protect someone was far better than to protect yourself, so Francis went to hell.
That’s so true. It’s like Niko’s hand was forced no matter the direction he magnetized himself to, or got magnetized to 🙁 Such a sad storyline to take place, especially after knowing what their family has been through
You seem to have forgotten Malorie's call after the mission Mr. and Mrs. Bellic where she revealed she was pregnant. This made that whole scene of Roman dying even Darker.
Eddie's encounters were some of the most disturbing missions I've ever come across in gta 4, at first i thought he was playing some kind of sick joke on niko but then at the end he felt like a total deranged serial killer there's theories that he's obsessed with his mom as in he wants to marry her, Manny getting killed then have his organs sent to a doctor was really messed up I know he was annoying but I didn't expect his fate to go down in such a dark way.
Yes, you’re so right about that, Eddie is truly one scary person. Even playing GTA IV today, I still find the encounters with him to run chills down my spine. And for real? He wanted to marry his own mother? I know there’s those websites of him up at the internet café which I’ll check out more on, but that’s insane. Also yeah, Manny getting killed was a shock for everyone - no one would’ve expected someone like him to die. But he was also kind of asking for it and putting a lot of risk on the line by wanting to bust drug dealers and coke pushers. Crazy storyline, isn’t it?
@@NotAJ they claim that as a young child his dad would make him cross dress and perform sexual stuff on him which caused Eddie to kill his dad, and he was in a sexual relationship with his mom, so he placed his dad body in an oven and buried his mom in the sand but he regretted it because he wanted to marry her, the game doesn't mention it but it's definitely disturbing and messed up.
As powerful as Roman's Sorrow is, it annoys me how much Roman tries to blame Niko for all his problems. Saying everything was fine until Niko showed up. His computer was smashed and he got beat up because he was in massive debt, was shot in a basement because he wouldn’t stop screaming despite being told to stop, and they were only there because Niko killed Vlad AFTER Roman basically called him disloyal all because he didn't tell Roman about a suspicion that Vlad was sleeping with Mallorie.
You’re so right about that. I also find it annoying that Roman accuses Niko for all his problems. And simply because Roman got Niko wrapped up in his problems, by forcing Niko to practically work with Vlad (in the mission, “Easy Fare”). And this wasn’t even Niko’s choice (lol). Especially with all those loan shark problems he had. But then again, I guess we kind of have to remember, Roman didn’t really ask Niko to kill Vlad, did he? He just confronted Niko for not telling Roman about it, even though Roman was out of his mind and drunk on the alcohol. And this is how Niko unfortunately got himself and Roman wrapped around in the mess with the Russian Mafia. I do imagine that things would’ve gone better if Niko didn’t lose his chill. There’s actually an unused phone call from Mallorie that says she slept with Vlad only to get back at Roman for having affairs with other women (I have a video on December 1st about that lol). So there’s a lot of outlooks on the entire situation. I suppose there’s no right or wrong from Roman’s context, but what he says is definitely contradictory and draws the blame back on him for a few reasons while also sharing it with Niko.
Well Niko did kill Vlad out of impulse and he did get manipulated by Dimitri into killing Faustin. Had Niko not been there/acted by impulse/been manipulated, Vlad and Faustin would've not been killed (at least by Niko). Can't really blame him for killing Faustin but I always thought the Uncle Vlad mission was a little bit out of place, judging that the boiling point was Vlad sleeping with Mallorie. Was Vlad really tho? If so then Mallorie herself is also partially to blame here for even considering Vlad, who's a scumbag goon and drug addict. There were no hints of Faustin betraying Niko anytime, but Dimitri would betray Faustin soon or later regardless of Niko's actions. Hell, he could've even contacted Johnny to kill Faustin had Niko not been there, just like he did contact him to kidnap Roman. At the end, Roman shouldn't have blamed Niko for it all, sure, but Niko did collaborate to part of it. And so did Mallorie and mostly everyone else. I'd say the only one who can't take any blame for anything is Jacob. It's kinda like how Sweet acts in SA, as he's extremelly annoying once he's released from prison and blames the downfall of the families on CJ's moving out and working with Woozie, when in fact it wasn't CJ's fault but Smoke's and Tenpenny's.
@NewRodin oh I'm not saying Niko didn't contribute to any of what went on, but for Roman to say everything was fine until Niko showed up is laughable. If anything Niko turning up probably saved Roman from getting killed by either the Albanians or Russians because no way would he have paid off the debts without Niko working for Vlad or anyone else because he couldn't control his gambling addiction. Yeah as far as San Andreas goes, growing up and playing that makes you realise how immature and selfish Sweet is. Can't stand that CJ wanted more to life than just "the hood."
I pretty much said the same thing, like technically it wasn’t all Niko fault. He just stood up to them mfs who were probably gonna try to fuck them over anyways… like when vlad was screwing his girl and he blamed Niko for that too like no they were assholes and Niko was technically not wrong 🤷🏾♀️
Give Roman a break. His entire life just crumbled in front of his eyes, he's stressed out, so he's trying to vent frustration the only way that is available to him. No one is ideal.
GTA IV was sooo ahead of its time its crazy. You could start it up right now and it would still feel like a modern, relatively recent game. I bough a PS3 just to replay the game again. Fantastic storyline and atmosphere.
I have been playing it recently on Xbox S and it's insane how, even by today's standards, it's far superior than GTA 5. Like the cover shooting may be a little wonky and almost all the missions just follow the same " Get job, go to location, shoot some fools and get paid" but what I think is awesome is that it actually works really well for the game. Also the seedy crime filled city still feels incredible to explore.
I wanna add something, Ray Boccino. To think that everyone thinks he's an a$$hole and not to be trusted and in the end he was one of the more decent ones in the game. He was loyal and a man of his word. In the end Peggorino did him dirty.
I agree with this outlook heavily, in the sense that Ray was pretty much a man of his word and keeps his loyalty to Niko. However, I do find that him getting whacked was probably foreshadowed, because think about it - and Pegorino said it best. Ray went way far ahead of the boss' plan and made moves on his own, when yet the boss (Pegorino) wasn't even ready to meet that stage yet. This whole 'diamond' thing was really coordinated by Pegorino in the first place. But Ray had his eye on the prize and figured that taking further steps ahead of Pegorino's plan would help him in the long run, so he can get the diamonds and call it a win. What Pegorino didn't suspect was Ray having the diamonds all to himself, even he doesn't say that to Niko - all he says to Niko is that Ray messed up the entire diamond ordeal even after having taken so many steps ahead. And because the Pegorino family was being watched by the feds, he only could suspect that Ray had to be the one since he was making moves that were probably for his own good and not the family's (greed, in other words). There's a lot of strange things that Ray did as a member of the family. Since Ray's greed took over, Pegorino saw it as a way of Ray probably trying to capitalize the situation for his own good. And doing that in a mob is dangerous and makes anyone such as Ray to be portrayed as someone who's untrustworthy. The Lost and Damned showed that in a pretty crazy way too.
Some people find him annoying, which is true, but he has a parallel to Gracie. He’s just innocent and doesn’t like the guns and crime ordeal. He’s more of a sweetheart if you will, just a good soul altogether. So people find him more intrusive to Niko than as someone who’s actually cool and keeps Niko’s mentality afloat.
I hate but i like roman at the same time, i hate roman because GOD MY, HE DOSENT S T O P OF CALLING ME FOR BOWLING. (tho is an fun minigame bowling) but i like its character so much
I completed this game maybe 4 or 5 times and I don't remember a single moment where Niko gets to be happy without something messed up happening afterwards making him feel miserable again. Either way there's no happy ending for him, only more suffering. Thank you rockstar for making this masterpiece it trully made me think at the time i played it about how life can be rigged from the start
I always killed Derrick. He always came across to me as a rat, everyone he's ever had dealings with said that too. And he's dead by GTA 5 anyways so there's not really any point in sparing him. Frank was a crook, but a commissioner in the making and every thing the city represented. Having him in your back pocket was a good thing for Niko (at least until the end game when his slate got wiped clean and got cut loose). People like to shit on Frankie, but I think him getting out alive has to be the cannon choice, considering the way game ends. All McRearys either dead or inside, Packie leaving town and their mom likely dying of grief/old age, and he becomes a Commissioner and runs the city.
@@AbdulAziz-im2emit’s definitely canon Derrick needed to go because he was suffering. Francis was a crook but also like you said a good thing to have. He was like mikes Saul.
That was sick, great work. This reminded me how much of a great game GTA IV was. Much better than GTA V in many ways. You can't replicate the atmosphere, realism and darkness of GTA IV. It's immaculate.
Fun fact in the beta version all the visuals look really light and creepy because the design with it has a creepy look and it's all lighter still even though the game could be dark I think the weather and the visuals look exactly creepy as the beta version
One thing you missed. There is a girl you could meet in a park in a random encounter same way to the jeff guy. The girl is actually a teen who had ran away from home, is a substance addict, and is apparently that Minecraft tool for farming. She asks niko for some money to buy her substance and offers to have stuff with him for money, but he denies and instead goes out of his way to make sure the girl goes to a rehab and is recovered. Towards the end of her arc, it's shown that she has gone back home to her parents and mailed niko that her life has been resolved now and she has started learning psychology at a college. She returns in GTA 5 but as a member of epsilon cult. Apparently, even after getting rehabbed, she was still predated on by that cult and her life is again in ruins.
@@NotAJ yes that's true. I saw a video about her last week. GTA 4 goes a long road to show how people think of America as the land of dreams but land in ruckus pursuing their ambitions
Yeah...i need to replay this game. Seeing Roman die still makes me tear up. This game deserves more love, R* did something special with this story. Its so so bleak yet completely captivating.
It’s truly an underrated game. I know that’s a bold thing to say, but I’d like to think that’s true. The story is unique, and so is the protagonist along with the characters he meets throughout the storyline. Definitely give this game a shot ❤️
I’ve watched a walkthrough of this game and didn’t realise how dark the themes were. Great video highlighting this. Goes to show the amazing writing involved for the dark moments of the game.
I 100% agree with you. It's such a solid story. Yeah there is over the top characters but they fit with the setting and the theme. 5 was WAY to jokey and honestly nihilistic. All three characters you play as in 5 are so fucking unlikable and seem like people you would do jobs for in GTA 4 then kill. The driving and shooting in 4 are so deliberate and slower paced because it's supposed to give the player the feeling of being in a REAL shootout where you would have to take your time and not move fast. It's just still to this day and incredible game
It was most definitely heartbreaking 💔 I never even knew about it until recently when I heard it in a conversation between Kate and Niko. This game is truly dark.
I always thought the sad part about Elizabeta was that she grew up with Manny or something, and most of Mallories aquantances were all childhood friends in Bohan the way she talks about them.
Will forever be my favorite gta. From the characters to the story to the location… such a great game so many memories as a kid playing this. I heard they might be remastering it after all these years , I hope they actually do it
I just finished GTA IV a couple of days ago, and I also heard the Roman’s mother story and I felt so sorry for Niko. Things like this make me think how deep GTA IV is, and wow it was a horrible surprise. Also, Niko’s voice made it a lot worse because you can hear the level of sorrow
Every stranger you met in IV felt part of the city, grounded in reality with their own issues or problems that Niko stumbled across. Some more light-hearted than others, but realistically told. The next GTA could easily be a trip down "look at me toon town" lane i.e. GTA V, but I hope Rockstar takes a more grounded approach with it.
I hope so, too. Because I do agree with you, GTA IV had really well-developed side characters that had rather more personality and character to them as opposed to the ones from GTA V that were kind of random and didn't make much sense.
Sadly GTAIV was a product of its time, back when gritty and noir was at its peak, when Nolan's Batman was the gold standard of filmmaking. We'll never get that again, as right now, social media, memes, and internet culture is king and GTAVI will represent that.
Definitely agree on Eddie being the scariest thing in the game by far. He's probably the biggest monster you can pull down next to either Dimitri or Bulgarin. The other scary thing is the sting/honeypot website the LCPD uses to catch predators. While it has no importance to the story, you have to wonder if online predators were so prevalent in LC that they had to make a sting site.
Eddie is truly one of those characters that Rockstar, I believe, worked really hard on to make him as realistic to a serial killer as possible - and they nailed it. AND THAT'S RIGHT! I can't believe I forgot to make an honorable mention of that. You're talking about the Little Lacey's Surprise Pageant?
@@NotAJ Yup. LLSP (the sting site) is actually a reference to older games (mainly VCS). In those games it was an actual brand for pageants and underwear, with some VERY creepy ads and implications on the radio stations (I think Espantoso was the one). I think it was mentioned again in GTA V since there's a mission where you steal a JB 700 with an actress who was in a LL ad, and in GTA CW since you get an email from an undercover LCPD/FIB agent that mentions the site. It isn't the only reference to predation in the game, though - there's a baseball player who went out for a date with Jill von Crastenburg (who was 13 at the time) and one of the guys that hosted a show on WCTR in San Andreas got arrested on CSA charges in Bali. It's spine chilling when you look into it. And Eddie's website doesn't make it any better too.
that manny death scene still haunts me because of how unexpected it was. and that subtle gasp from the camera man made it even worse. Man GTAIV's stranger missions were pretty F'd up, looking back at it.
Yeah, literally. Imagine the camera man’s last moments. All he saw was his boss/friend being shot, then all of a sudden saw the tip of a Glock in his face.
@@NotAJhe’s dead not wrong Packie leaves LC at the end of TBOGT it makes sense Gerry Is in prison for a long stretch, Francis got shot and killed, Kate shot and killed (canon), Derrick definitely Odeed him being him, and obviously the matriarch the mother she’s old it was just her time and Packie was the last one left.. that on its own is dark too bro lost his family and home.
@@vintage_sole4065Well, at least Gerry is alive. Was it explained how long he'll stay in prison? Not sure if I heard 10 years at some point in my playthrough. It would be cool if both Gerry and Packie can come back in 6. Packie is unlikely since he already returned, but you know.
I’ve read a Q&A of Rockstar years ago and they said they chose not to make canon / non-canon choices as they want to respect all players choices. They said they would love to bring Roman back for example, but that would contradict some players choices.
The more years go by the more I recognize how R* absolutely outdid themselves with this game.. Always will be my favorite. Niko is a captivating character or antihero I should say, even the fact that they made an European main protagonist was huge for me at the time, its like they went all against the expectations and wanted to deliver something fresh narrative wise, which they absolutely did. I dont mean to bash other GTA titles but compared to them IV is very tasteful and doesnt suffer from identity crisis like SA and V do sometimes. I appreaciate the more minimal and realistic design. - Though seeing some of its BETA or unused content I have to wonder what this game could look like remastered or if the console hardware limitation wasnt an issue..
Rockstar truly outdid this themselves with GTA IV, without a doubt 👌 They did a great job with Niko Bellic’s character and making him very fitting with the storyline in mind, showing him trying to transition from bad to good, but, as it turns out, he couldn’t escape from the darkness. Thank you for sharing these thoughts ❤️
I replayed the game last year, his speech to Roman - “War is where the young and stupid are tricked by the old and bitter into killing each other”. That just hits different now that I’m older. I first played this game very young (kind of a bad idea, now that I look at it lol).
just mod it yourself. Ultimate textures 2.0 and Icenhancer 3 or 4 on at the same time is a better remaster than Rockstar could make with their current staff.
I can't believe I just watched a 45-minute video in one go-one of the best compilation videos I have watched in a long time. Thank you for your hard work.
I’m super appreciative of that, thank you so much ❤️ I hope I can continue to make videos like these for IV! I originally made this as a Halloween special, and well… here we are! Your guys’ words mean a ton.
I love how you put your strong efforts on making this great GTA IV video. It feels so good when this type of games are still recognised by people which makes it more interesting to realise what Great Game it was.
I don’t know about any of you, but that delivery on “does that make you happy” is the darkest we ever hear Niko himself. If anything it feels like a hint of his fate after Roman dies. Curiosity in a place where it has no belonging, No ending. Very close to losing himself in a void only monsters like Dimitri know.
I agree, the delivery on "does that make you happy" was the hardest hitting point in the conversation after having been done with the confrontation to Darko.
Manny only wanted the fame, he didn’t care for the streets and it’s implied he’s still on drugs himself. And Niko’s comment at the end is sarcasm, as he knew manny’s true intentions
My favourite GTA. The dark undertones of the city and story beats make it feel so alive. Cant beat the euphoria physics either. Truly ahead of its time. I never liked the plastic look of GTA 5s character models and downgraded physics. I hope rockstar took notes for GTA 6
Like I told someone else, look how long this took them to make after their previous GTA title - it took them very little time. Yet, it's the game with one of the largest sets of voice actors and actresses involved. Rockstar truly outdid themselves with this title.
Darko is a mirror for Niko. Someone who let revenge ruin him. He sold out the squad becausw Goran and his men killed Darko's friends and neighbors. He had little incentive not to give up the squad's position especially with his H habit also playing into the equation. Niko has the choice to let go.
A lot of people don’t realize Darko is not evil, and Darko was more justified than Niko. Like you said they are mirrors; Darko could not live with his crimes, Niko became apathetic to it. If you know more about the ethnic cleansing in Bosnia done by Bosnian Serbs against Bosniaks (which Niko and Darko are Bosnian Serbs), how they would kill their own neighbors and family friends and the world they knew was turned to shit, people would sympathize with Darko more. Darko “sold out” his squad because of what they had done.
If Kate dies, the phone call from Packie is really sad. If it’s one of his brothers, he’s kinda like “ah shit that sucks”. Kate is a different story. The sadness in Packie’s voice is heartbreaking
I still remember the shock on my face, when I first heard about what happened to Roman's mother, especially when Niko said that Roman doesn't know anything about it.
"Whatever gets you off" is one of the worst ways Niko ever said even when the intent is to say "whatever you say, just get out ASAP", since it aggravates the predator side of Eddie even more. Dark humor, though.
GTA IV is still by far my favorite GTA story and Niko is still my favorite character. They knew when to use humor and when to get serious, and when the serious moments hit they hit hard.
Manny was annoying but at least part of his heart was in the right place. There’s a performative part of his “cleaning up the streets” where he does not partake in the dirty work (having Niko murder drug dealers in a warehouse). Manny is the clean face to the otherwise dirty work of “cleaning up the streets” and the irony is he dies despite the fact that he’s mostly clean.
@@octm1lmfaooo right, remember when Niko snatched the camera and threw it to the ground and looked at it, shook his damn head and said “sorry” and asked him “now what did you want?” LMFAOOO
I definitely didn't know the Romans mom bit, sheeesh. Eddie Low is such an interesting character, just how deranged and sick he is makes him one of the most twisted characters in all of GTA, if not the most twisted. Is there enough moments like these in the other GTA games to make more videos like this? Would be a cool series to make, top 10 darkest moments, or even theories.
I didn't know about Roman's mother after all these years until recently. Again, I was just bored and this happened to pop-up, so I was taken by surprise. And yes, Eddie Low is indeed one heck of an interesting guy. And of course, I can try to do that. I'd have to get myself as familiar as I could with the other GTA stories.
Imo roman dying (while not ideal) is the superior emotional ending that makes the most sense in how you exact your revenge, chasing dimitri in the helicopter to easter island for the final showdown is so much more satisfying when you feel the pain of losing roman, while with Kate it was personal for sure, but it just doesn't carry the same weight as the alternative.
I love how in gta the protagonists would willingly go along on sime insanely messed up missions. like Cj helping catalina rob a place and her ending up killing innocent people because she couldnt kill the guy behind the cash register, Trevor having so much fun torturing a guy, And Nico backhanding the fuck out of a poor girl to snap a pic of her kiddnapped to send to her father. Then always having to comment how fucked up it is after the fact and all the things wrong with it 😂 Like bro you didnt have to do it.
This game has by far the best storytelling in the GTA franchise. So, I do agree with you that it's brilliant! :) Also, THANK YOU for showing your support on the video. I'm happy to do videos like these!
Niko is my favourite Rockstar character, but I NEVER knew no.2 and no.1 in this list even existed in gta4. Thank you for this video, because even though the Gta6 trailer is out now, and everyone is exited for it, gta4 will always be one of a kind.
Niko will always remain to be my most favorite character in the GTA series ❤️ And of course! I love this game to bits and pieces, so it’s never going to be over for me on this game.
The Roman death scene feels even more impactful by the way they don't have Niko even look at Roman, he hears Mallorie's crying and doesn't even wanna look over. Just instantly goes back to the killer.
Yeah, it's almost as if the picture was painted for Niko as soon as he heard Mallorie. What a moment that made us all feel sorrow for Mallorie and Niko.
Makes sense why GTA IV sticks out from the rest of all the other GTAs. It was not about fame, money and being a king like all the other GTAs, its a real gritty story that honestly makes a great movie just from watching the cutscenes
“It’s a real gritty story that honestly makes a great movie”… exactly 💫 The movie like thing reminded me of Metal Gear Solid and how they also did the same with their stories. This game is something else, man.
@@NotAJ I will say it takes heavy influence from a lot of gangster and crime movies from the 90s, even the soundtrack plays a part. I love how it reflects the unique New York culture of 70s - 00s which is undoubtedly New York's grittiest but most soulful decades
The look that Niko gives Little Jacob after he says "you won" is so haunting. It's as if Niko is asking Jacob with his eyes, "At what cost?" or "Did I really win?"
Shed a tear after the wedding and actually cried at Niko's speech in the finale. Amazing game, so dark, gritty and one hell of an atmosphere. They dont make games like they used to.
It's not actually that dark because Trevor actually did a favor to the guy by letting him live and dropping him at the airport so he can gtfo from that place. Otherwise the government people would have disposed of him already
I also like to think in the mission "Darko Brevic Fate", when the game shows you the dialogue to kill or let Darko alive, his name will appear red (as an enemy) and green (as an allie), showing how Niko has also betrayed friends to get where he is at.
I just realised that if the cops ever caught up with Niko, Eddie Low might be why. He had journals, and knew Niko's name. He could have written about him, and there might have been more evidence in his apartment too.
Excellent point! You'd think that Eddie would've jotted down his name, his origin, his race, his ethnicity, his 'accent', all that stuff at his home - especially since the police department did a search inside of it. Who knows why that wasn't something written into that sub-storyline.
@@NotAJand those journals would be burned/not exist thanks to Niko’s unwanted connection with the I.A.A thanks to agent Karen (Michelle) and keeping him clear of the police.

The voice acting overall for this game is just top notch. It’s “Metal Gear Solid” type of good ❤️

Unlikely.. it wont count because a serial killer has an M.O and methodical in his killings.. after all, a serial killer is creature of habit, and its always their downfall.. also, eddie low has already confessed to the killings, can assume he did proudly like so many other real life serial murderers.
That could've never happened because Eddie Low blogs about his murders online.

You’re making me want to do the same, I have my PS3 and my PS3 copy still ❤️
Any issues like audio looping from the radio and muted dialog in cuts scenes?
You should've gotten a Xbox 360. That's the best version of GTA IV
@@robertloweiii8790 That's a bug with unsupported audio devices. You need to go to sound settings, and select automatic.
How anyone hates Roman is insane
Some people find him annoying, which is true, but he has a parallel to Gracie. He’s just innocent and doesn’t like the guns and crime ordeal. He’s more of a sweetheart if you will, just a good soul altogether. So people find him more intrusive to Niko than as someone who’s actually cool and keeps Niko’s mentality afloat.
Probably because bowling
Well i dont think you would love someone calling you to play bowling while you are busy fighting 56 drug dealers and robbing a bank

Truest words spoken here, my friend - well said 🙏
I feel like the McReary brothers asking you to kill eachother is pretty dark.
Couldn't have agreed more, that is pretty dark.
@@AbdulAziz-im2em I agree 100%
@@AbdulAziz-im2emit’s definitely canon Derrick needed to go because he was suffering. Francis was a crook but also like you said a good thing to have. He was like mikes Saul.
Wow I almost forgot about this one. Definitely agree
Ilyena Faustin was a greatly acted and written character. Short in the game yet permanently burned into my mind.
The person who played her role did such a fantastic job, she was underrated. I wish there was more that could’ve been done with her 👌
Niko looking apalled when he heard Darko did it for a measly thousand is top notch, the guy who made the face needs a raise

That was sick, great work.
This reminded me how much of a great game GTA IV was. Much better than GTA V in many ways.
You can't replicate the atmosphere, realism and darkness of GTA IV. It's immaculate.
Thank you so much for the kind words! And I think truest words have also been spoken - can't replicate that at all, no way.
Imagine care about realism in video game
Fun fact in the beta version all the visuals look really light and creepy because the design with it has a creepy look and it's all lighter still even though the game could be dark I think the weather and the visuals look exactly creepy as the beta version
Wow, that's interesting! I've never tried the BETA visuals before. There is a mod out for it right now.
Absolute beta fanboy schizo post
R u saying that the beta is dark and griddy
Ah damn, you’re talking about Marnie, aren’t you? I didn’t even know about her ending arc with the cult. That’s so sad 😞
@@NotAJ yes that's true. I saw a video about her last week. GTA 4 goes a long road to show how people think of America as the land of dreams but land in ruckus pursuing their ambitions
I had it with Minecraft tool for farming😂
I like people who make videos on GTA 4 😊
Thank you! 🥹❤️ I’ll keep doing them!
Thank you so much for the kind words, my friend ❤️ Yes, this game truly has some special type of writing to be a story that beats Hollywood.

The actor who did niko’s character was fantastic. I still say IV is the best gta ever made
I agree with you, my friend.
Romans mother line just broke me. Makes so much more sense for Niko as person.
It was most definitely heartbreaking 💔 I never even knew about it until recently when I heard it in a conversation between Kate and Niko. This game is truly dark.
I loved Little Jacob his Jamaican accent was so fcking entertainin
For real, bredren 💯

I always thought the sad part about Elizabeta was that she grew up with Manny or something, and most of Mallories aquantances were all childhood friends in Bohan the way she talks about them.
That's so true, I think that's why Mallorie suspected the entire reasoning of Manny's death to be because of Elizabeta.
The darkest moment in this video is at 8:55 when all the NPCs take a sip of their coffee at the same time
LMFAO 😂
Will forever be my favorite gta. From the characters to the story to the location… such a great game so many memories as a kid playing this. I heard they might be remastering it after all these years , I hope they actually do it
Gta 4 is boring.
@@element021993 you’re calling a game that came out in 2008 boring…. Okay? Bet you weren’t saying that when it first came out
@@skid126 It was boring back then and is boring now. Gta 4 is the weakest in the series. SA and 5 are the best. 6 will also blow 4 into dust.
@@element021993 gta 6 is gonna blow any game out the water 😂 gta 5 sucked , gta 4 was way better you were probably 8 when it came out
We need to start a petition for remastering GTA IV. Totally agree with you itst the best of all GTA games
You most certainly could feel and hear Niko’s sorrow. It’s so saddening 💔
The one with the heroin addicted chick in algonquin was super messed up
By the looks of things that won't be the case
Talking about Marnie?
Im not gonna lie i dont even know what a predator is
Is that the website that says " we know everything"
that manny death scene still haunts me because of how unexpected it was. and that subtle gasp from the camera man made it even worse. Man GTAIV's stranger missions were pretty F'd up, looking back at it.
Yeah, literally. Imagine the camera man’s last moments. All he saw was his boss/friend being shot, then all of a sudden saw the tip of a Glock in his face.
I found that part disturbing to especially with what Manny was trying to stop then gets killed from it.
the ending involving Kate's death is actually the canon ending while the one with Roman's death is non-canon
That's my belief, as well.
I always like to kill Darko but take the deal. Feels right
@@vintage_sole4065Well, at least Gerry is alive.
You know consoles can't do that right.

@@NotAJ Thanks
@@NotAJ Agreed! Great job on the video. I don't think I knew that detail about Romans mother before. That was especially haunting.
Give the Manhunt saga a try. Carcer city makes Liberty City look like a paradise.

I have to give that and RDR2 a try! It’s sad I’ve never played it…. :( I am this winter
Darko is a mirror for Niko. Someone who let revenge ruin him. He sold out the squad becausw Goran and his men killed Darko's friends and neighbors. He had little incentive not to give up the squad's position especially with his H habit also playing into the equation. Niko has the choice to let go.
“Darko is a mirror for Niko” couldn’t have been anymore accurate 👌 Well said.
42:22 🤨
Quite a serious list, good work AJ!
"Serious list" is truly the right words for this. Thanks, GTAHeavyImpact ❤
I still remember the shock on my face, when I first heard about what happened to Roman's mother, especially when Niko said that Roman doesn't know anything about it.
It was jaw-dropping to hear something like that. Makes you think of all the stuff Roman went through in his life.
"Whatever gets you off" is one of the worst ways Niko ever said even when the intent is to say "whatever you say, just get out ASAP", since it aggravates the predator side of Eddie even more. Dark humor, though.
Yeah, for real! But I wonder, did Niko probe at him purposely to see if maybe he could affect his psychological triggers?
GTA IV is still by far my favorite GTA story and Niko is still my favorite character. They knew when to use humor and when to get serious, and when the serious moments hit they hit hard.
That’s such a true depiction of Grand Theft Auto IV’s balance of humor and seriousness. I loved this game for that being one of the reasons.
Honestly, on No.8 Manny is annoying overall
When Elizabeta shot him. I don't feel a sense of guilt on this guy.
I've heard people say this and I can totally see why.
she was coked out worried about police then some guy puts a camera in her face
Manny was annoying but at least part of his heart was in the right place. There’s a performative part of his “cleaning up the streets” where he does not partake in the dirty work (having Niko murder drug dealers in a warehouse). Manny is the clean face to the otherwise dirty work of “cleaning up the streets” and the irony is he dies despite the fact that he’s mostly clean.
@@octm1lmfaooo right, remember when Niko snatched the camera and threw it to the ground and looked at it, shook his damn head and said “sorry” and asked him “now what did you want?” LMFAOOO
The flatline mission straight up killed me inside, especially when the life supporter machine started bleeping more and more
And then hearing the guy’s groans moments before his death… tragic 🥺
Yeah, I agree - I can see what you're saying about the whole 'emotional imbalance' between the two endings. Good point.
the way Elizabeta just kills Manny and his cameraman so effortlessly is funny for some reason
This is normal for someone unmoral as her and high as a kite at the moment
I love how in gta the protagonists would willingly go along on sime insanely messed up missions.
like Cj helping catalina rob a place and her ending up killing innocent people because she couldnt kill the guy behind the cash register, Trevor having so much fun torturing a guy, And Nico backhanding the fuck out of a poor girl to snap a pic of her kiddnapped to send to her father. Then always having to comment how fucked up it is after the fact and all the things wrong with it 😂

Lol niko literally roasting Eddie while ending his career was funny in a rather dark event.
In the darkest ways possible… like “spill your guts”, bruh.

OMG nothing was more dark than Trevor torturing that guy in GTA 5, breaking his knees, pulling out his teeth and then tossing him out at the airport.
Oooof, yeah, that’s dark alright 😥
It's not actually that dark because Trevor actually did a favor to the guy by letting him live and dropping him at the airport so he can gtfo from that place. Otherwise the government people would have disposed of him already
The real story of murat kurnaz is even darker
Unpopular Opinion: GTA 5 has a pretty dark story underneath the facade of a lively city of Los Santos.
« well, he said he was gonna bust a dealer » 😂
One of my favorite Niko jokes 😂
LOL gotta love Niko 😂😂😂😂
soon those cringed streamers or pranksters meet their demise like that

I also like to think in the mission "Darko Brevic Fate", when the game shows you the dialogue to kill or let Darko alive, his name will appear red (as an enemy) and green (as an allie), showing how Niko has also betrayed friends to get where he is at.
Ooooh, that's bold - I like the way you thought about that.
@@Γιάννης-ξ8μExcellent point. But you think that might be canonical considering that the UL Paper at the end said Niko’s on his own?
You are a sweetheart for pointing out these sad moments.
Thank you! ❤️

I remember playing this as a kid not understanding much, but now as a conscious adult this game hits in such a heavy dark way.
I’ve went through this same exact experience with GTA IV in my years growing up.
My favorite game of all time. I’m glad people still show gta 4 some love & this game will live on forever. 🙌🏾
GTA IV is also my favorite game of all time. I'll continue to show the love to this game no matter what :) Thanks for the support!
Grand theft auto 4 is amazing imagine if there was a remastered version for PlayStation 5, and Xbox series x,
Yeah this game was ACTUALLY GOOD and fun story mode wise. Underrated and full of details
4 is boring.
13:21 I broke out laughing when I heard his British accident
14:16 when you gave established a nice shelter in RLcraft but an Eruption event happens and fire mobs spawn all over the place
“I accidentally ran this poor chap over” 😂
@@NotAJI'm pretty sure we can apply a British stereotype here😂
Also, I haven’t ever heard Niko talk so loudly, aside from his random screams in combat. What a crazy guy.
That was a really good video. You should do top 10 darkest moments in GTA five
Darkest moments in GTA V… hmm 🤔 not a bad idea, eh?
Mah mans I'm really enjoy your videos 🔥
Thank you so much ❤ I appreciate the love and support!
