Ey am from Lebanon and as far as i know, yes you can still buy dushka's, mortars, guns from dealers, they are of course illegal. Their are some families that turned themselves into tribes, though those tribes are few, some have Katoyshas. All of those where collected from about 50 years ago during our civil war. But we ain't like that no more, there are still weapons dealers, but its not like everyone has a dushka in their attic :p But Aks, almost every house has one lol, and alot of new m4s too Also we can buy and register fully automatic weapons, but licences are not handed out easily.
I watched this movie years ago and I was always surprised that it did not get more accolades. Kind of reminded me of idiocracy, a movie they tried to hide.
So its it's basically "oi mate your invadin me farm" "soviet Russia invade you" followed up by AK firing, and then the movie is over because guns are illegal in Australia
That film should have won a suite of awards. It's pure decadent indulgence. I remember watching a history channel (back before the present era) show in gun dealers where they inverviewed one of the guys Yuri is based off of, he was talking about the post-cold-war era where he was commissioned to buy a submarine, the seller asked "with missiles or without?" :D What a time to be alive.
According to the commentary on the DVD, it was cheaper for the production company to buy those tanks than rent them. The tanks were then sold back to the guy that they bought them from
I'd actually love to see you call out weird prop guns in other films. Especially re dressed guns in sci fi flicks. Aliens pulse rifle (thompson) Protectorate issue rifle (ak) Loads of opportunity there
The one thing I remember from the movie is when Yuri said to his brother: ''why are you so fucked up all the time?'' I say that to myself a lot these days
Hearing the cash register ring with each shot is so very 2020, and it hurts my soul a little. Surprised you didn't do the life of a bullet shot. It's truly iconic from this movie. So War Dogs next? Similar (ish?) plot but for the modern-er era.
Hey Brandon I just thought I’d tell you my theory as to why they used VZ 58’s. in 2004 the assault weapons ban was lifted. When this happened a mass influx of AK style rifles hit the market. When this happened most of them were pretty pricey at first with the exception of the VZ 58. In 2005-2006 dealer price was between 250-300 with a lot of them in stock. You couldn’t give them away because they didn’t take AK mags and (at least in my area) you couldn’t find back up mags or if you did they were expensive compared to AK mags. Also other AK style rifles in this price range would be obvious to any gun guy. For example everyone knows the wasr 10/63 doesn’t have mag dimples and many at the time took single stack mags or the N-pap which would have required a complete stock change. So the short version is it came down to the cost to look authentic.
Loved this movie, especially the ending. Very eye opening. An unfortunately often true quote from this movie- Yuri Orlov: They say, "Evil prevails when good men fail to act." What they oughta say is, "Evil prevails.

"Allegedly" the makers of the movie has stated that it was cheaper to buy the racks full of VZ58's than it was to rent movie prop AK's. After the filming was done they where also sold back to the same international arms dealer at a loss and ended up in some war thorn country.
I just posted almost that same comment before I read yours, lol!

"It will shoot whether it is covered in mud or filled sand..."
InRangeTV would like a word.
Just saying, like Iraqvet8888 meltdowns, they usually go way harder than just covered with mud or filled with sand, its more of a demolition test than reliability test, I wouldn't take their word as gospel in the matter even though it is coming from gun jesus. Like sure mud and stuff gets all over and in the firearm but not purposely rubbed into the bc and cl unless your purposely trying to make the firearm fail lol. Or like Lunkers firing his bolty in a lake lol.
@@desertedgoat17 in range put both the AK and the AR through the same test. They dumped mud on top of both and the AK failed. It does mean the AK is a bad weapon, it just has more ingress points than an AR.
Look at it this way. It takes more to make an AK malfunction than it does an AR, but it is easier for the debris to get into an AK.
What most RUclipsrs use in their videos are American made aks
@@atf8501 I love a good AK. It is easy to maintain and to clean. But the fact is because of the AK's basic design there are more ingress points for mud and debris to get in. It does not matter what country a gun is made in. Once crap get into the action and chamber the guns is going to malfunction.
Ak can't deal with mud, but will eat sand like a fat man eats butter.
The arms bazaar that he said everyone wishes shot show was like, is actually really the AUSA conference. It’s defense contractors pitching the military brass their latest stuff and they really have tanks, helicopters, MRAPs, everything. It’s glorious. It’s in DC every October.

I think he does that because in my experience at least the Chinese rifles have much nicer looking stocks. It also might be Yugoslav like me mentioned, because I am willing to bet that he could figure out how to change a stock on an AK. lol.

The best part about this movie is that end scene where Yuri gets detained and interrogated, and he explains to that Interpol agent what's going to happen next. It was a true statement about international politics and why Yuri was a necessary component in it.
And now it happened in reality.

During the making of the Christopher Walken movie, “The Dog of War” the director met and spoke with a couple of real arms merchants in order to make a scene in the movie more authentic..
In the commentary track the director said he had never met anyone as scary as those guys.
He was literally terrified.
If you haven’t seen the Dog of War…see it…you’ll love it…
Ey am from Lebanon and as far as i know, yes you can still buy dushka's, mortars, guns from dealers, they are of course illegal. Their are some families that turned themselves into tribes, though those tribes are few, some have Katoyshas. All of those where collected from about 50 years ago during our civil war.
But we ain't like that no more, there are still weapons dealers, but its not like everyone has a dushka in their attic :p
But Aks, almost every house has one lol, and alot of new m4s too
Also we can buy and register fully automatic weapons, but licences are not handed out easily.

Can you review the movie “tomorrow when the war begins”? Its a Australian version of Red Dawn

@@poppaeddi i mean, anytime before 1995 australia had good gun laws so
That film should have won a suite of awards.

Brandon, could you make a video series called, "What's that ak?" where yiu educate us on how to tell a Romanian Ak from a Russian to a Chinese etc etc
Chinese are actually easy to tell they have a built in bayonet and a full circle Front sight atleast those are two of them
According to the commentary on the DVD, it was cheaper for the production company to buy those tanks than rent them. The tanks were then sold back to the guy that they bought them from

I have only ever seen the intro of this movie.
