What Lorna Shore is doing right now is on a different level from nearly all of their peers. They're generational talents, plain and simple. Can't wait to see what they do next and how they inspire others.
Yes, LS are all top notch musicians, there's no way around that. Whitechapel, however, does emotional deathcore a lot better I think. LS always goes full throttle, balls to the wall metal, which I have no problem with... but if I want some emotion alongside my daily dose of blast beats and breakdowns, Whitechapel are my choice. They aren't afraid of slowing down a song, or go real quiet with a stripped-down acoustic segment. And Phil, he's got such a beautiful, vulnerable clean singing voice in these new songs, it's crazy. Lost Boy is just a perfect song.
Certain people just can't bring themselves to be happy...with anything. Legit criticism is one thing but if you spend more time bitching about music instead of enjoying it, then we probably have some deeper issues to discuss.
I've never understood why metal specifically has so many fans who's sole existence is to love to hate on the genre, fans will rip a band constantly for staying in their comfort zone, but any deviation will also be ridiculed and mocked. It's no wonder why so many bands now are transitioning out of the metal genre entirely because the fandom can be do needlessly toxic and self-deprecating. For this track, I didn't want a breakdown, I wanted something different, and LS did it. These guys will never be stopped - they have managed to stay relevant for over a year
Being that Slaughter To Prevail's most recent song 1984 had some clean vocals I think its time for Lorna Shore so do the same Will is an amazing vocalist and the band is so much more capable of writing different kinds of songs.
Whitechapel has good cleans as well, and I'm glad you pointed that out. Also, Lorna has a melodic death metal feel too, which is very cash money. Adam has that Alexi Laiho philosophy when it comes to solos. Write a solo that serves the purpose of the song.
Watch for Finn's eyes at 7:05 and how he started blinking way more often after this bridge. Amazing. I had the same reaction for the first time. Awesome song
This is a very well-done song, it's epic, it's dramatic, and it feels like it kinda transcends what we think of as deathcore. This band is so much more than "funny dinosaur noise", and I'm absolutely here for it.
Lorna Shore shouldn’t be afraid to keep the listeners on their toes, I like a breakdown with monster vocals as much as the next guy but this was so refreshing!

Lots of deathcore sounds the same after a few minutes. I genuinely cant tell the difference with each so g in bmth's first album. At least lorna finally added a new sound to deathcore and made each song have a distinctive melody different from the rest
Mourning is a curious thing. It would seem that we get sad because someone has left and now they're gone. What sucks just as much is the fact that YOU are expected to CONTINUE in their absence. That can be even harder than the fact that they are gone.

Critiques are never fleshed out with any kind of technical breakdowns or reasons aside from "iM sO tIrEd Of HeArInG aBoUt LoRnA ShOrE". Blame deathcore itself then. There are dozens of amazing bands putting out great deathcore music like Mental Cruelty, Ov Sulfur, Spite, Oceano, Brand of Sacrifice...but bands like Shadow of Intent and Lorna Shore are doing it at such a high fucking level while throwing in non traditional deathcore elements. And anyone who listened to the 3 songs on And I Return to Nothingness and came away saying they all sounded the same....get your fucking ears checked and take that idiotic chip off your shoulder.

In Flames, one of my favorite bands of all time has a signature sound, the melodies are present throughout every album, although they became less and less tied into the overarching themes as Anders got all introspective. But when I listen to Colony it sounds like a continuous journey until the end. At the expense of stating the obvious given Pain Remains is broken up into 3 parts, I hope they are doing that with this album. I really love the melodic, emotional aspects of these songs. It was there a little bit with Immortal too, although CJ seemed to growl with much more straight up anger. I'd hate to see them be like "let's be more like Cannibal Corpse" or something and ditch the melody.

Unbelievably talented band but I think the drummer (my opinion) overplays ever song with his double bass speed and the amount of blasts he uses. Let the song breathe my dude! The lead melody seems pretty randomly thrown on top

Everyone remember that their EP just dropped a little over a year ago. I don’t know why everyone expects their sound to be so different so fast. I would get if it has been 3 years or so and they still sounded like AIRTN, but this song shows they’re capable of changing their sound up. I know it’s hard to focus in this modern age for more than 10 minutes but let them breathe and if their next album sounds just like Pain Remains then complaints will be more justified than they are now

Everyone remember that their EP just dropped a little over a year ago. I don’t know why everyone expects their sound to be so different so fast. I would get if it has been 3 years or so and they still sounded like AIRTN, but this song shows they’re capable of changing their sound up. I know it’s hard to focus in this modern age for more than 10 minutes but let them breathe and if their next album sounds just like Pain Remains then complaints will be more justified than they are now
