It's a Hindu festival celebrated by Indic Faiths ( Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists). Hinduism is all about lnclusivity. Abrahamic faiths are free to participate , some do unless they are orthodox , conservatives , newly converts and consider it haram or Sin.
Just because Indians Celebrate Christmas/Eid/ valentines day doesn't make them Indian or Hindu festivals. One is free to celebrate as long as they are respecting & Acknowledging the origins and it's roots and celebrating in traditional way. Dont disrespect it trying to cut off it's roots. Say No to cultural appropriation.

Before Holi we celebrate Holika Dahan. In which we make big bon fire. , primarily the tale of Prahlad and Hiranyakashipu. Prahlad, a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu, faced persecution from his father, the demon king Hiranyakashipu, for his beliefs. Hiranyakashipu's sister, Holika, had a boon granting her immunity to fire. She attempted to trick Prahlad into a pyre, but divine intervention led to her demise while Prahlad emerged unscathed. This event symbolizes the victory of good over evil, a theme central to Holika Dahan. Holika Dahan, also known as Chhoti Holi, involves the lighting of a bonfire after sunset. People gather around the fire, offering prayers and chanting mantras. Before igniting the pyre, various items symbolizing prosperity and well-being, such as roli, rice, turmeric, moong dal, and batasha, are placed. The fire signifies the burning of negativity and the triumph of good.

For your info not all indians celebrate holi only people part of that tradition celebrate holi, u guys dont get that hinduism is not a religion like islam or christianity, it is a compilation of various cultural and traditional beliefs of various clans and sects of india and each one have their own set of festivals and each one is diverse from one another and have their own language. India doesnt mean hindi, we have 27 other equally official languages over here. Each state has its own regional language. These together form india. With all due respect, i live in tamil nadu state in south india and dont know a single word in hindi.
