Sent By Ravens' new song "We're All Liars" from the upcoming album "Mean What You Say" available in stores and online February 28th on Tooth & Nail Records.
I'm not a christian, but I absolutely love this song, and it's lyrics are still incredibly strong. If you have any belief in anything at all, this song still has a powerful meaning.
Christianity is not just about going to church or giving tithe or putting on your "everything is good" mask in church. its about accepting Jesus into your life and having a personal relationship with him. growing more like him and living your life to serve. not to be the one who sits in the pews on Sunday and says that all others are sinners and wont go out to help. spread the love of god, don't tear those praising Him down

Verse one is about a man losing his faith in church/religion after they kick him out in exile after taking his money. Church being the "Liar" in the song for promising him that if he gave them money, God would grant him relief from his struggles. Verse two is very introspective. It's about realizing We, as human beings, are no different/better than each other, yet when someone else does wrong, we often fail to show God's grace and forgiveness to them. Even if it may be the same things we find ourselves guilty of. Finally, in the bridge, he comes to terms with it and admits (to God) That he committed to live for God and hasn't been holding up his end of the deal. "I ran for You. But I broke my word." This is possibly the deepest and realest song on the entire album.

Exactly my thoughts! "Somebody is a liar! You shouldn't play with fire you may get burned!" A preacher wasn't teaching the truthful word of God and now the person is getting rejected from heaven. It's how we need to make sure the truth is being preached, not man's opinions, so that the recipients of the preaching aren't led astray. That's how interpret it, anyway.

He recognizes his own hypocrisy in giving to God with a wrong attitude & expecting financial relief from the men that he trusted and whom he equated with God. This caused him to break his personal promise to God in his bitterness. If we say we trust God for our eternal salvation and yet cannot trust Him with such a small thing as a tithe then we are not really trusting Him at all. Lesson learned... God will choose from where our help comes. Trust God is true and every man a liar (hypocrite).
