I used to work in a mall close to where Jonah Lomu lived in South Auckland. He was a phenomenon on the field, but was often seen shopping in the mall besieged by folks wanting his autograph. It must’ve driven him nuts, but he was always so polite and gentlemanly towards these people. I never once saw him be snippy towards anyone.

I’m a proud Samoan Kiwi so it’s always good to see another Samoan Kiwi lead the Haka but for me personally, the best All Blacks Haka’s were always lead by Piri Weepu.

So the boys do have cultural advice from kaumatua(elders) about how you do haka. Use of PUKANA(protruding tongue and Wide eyes) Rhythm and stance. But each man produces their own IHI ( Spirit) bringing THEIR own characteristics to the amalgam of the team.

I know for a while South Africa had a haka of sorts but it didn't really work. Tbh I am relieved. I don't think we can do a haka in the same way these Islanders can. Best leave that to the professionals. They perfect their chants we will perfect our rugby.

Aussie here as well. As a rugby union supporter, it's the one thing everyone should aspire to watching live. I saw them performing the Haka in Brisbane before they flogged us in a Bledisloe Cup match quite a few years ago now. Memories of the match yes, unpleasant. Memories of the Haka? A lifetime experience that is hard to match for pure entertainment. In fact, it was brilliant.
Very powerful, I wish every country had their own hakka, representing culture, struggle etc
It would be cultural appropriation. Its best when we respect culture and traditions. Culture and traditions should be preserved , important and sacred to countries , races and ethnicities. And the reason why those traditions must be protected if the globalist have their way , all of our traditions that make our countries and people unique will disappear because globalism wants all of us to act and think the same way and culture and traditions stand in the way of those global dreams . I use to lead my School House Hakas...and for a 14 yr old leading boys my age and older it was BLOODY INTIMIDATING. But my kaumatua told me
" E Tama, your Tupuna will rise within you, they will guide you. YOU have to OPEN YOURSELF to them and those you are facing. You do that during your practices and on the Day you will start to understand the VALUE of Haka" he instilled Convidence and Pride within me and buggar me? We won. Even more incredible for me was I was getting advice from a WW2 28 battalion vet, MAORI WARRIOR.

It's Haka is maori/polynesian culture in all Ploynesian countries like NZ, Samoa, etc. and most people in NZ Rugby team are Polynesian. In Cricket team most players are White.
