Trying out the EVH Stripe Red and Peavey 5150!
i been made in México too!! XD!! greetings from it!
Nice, just recently had to sell my EVH Wolfgang special..sad times. Loved the D tuner
We likes yes? Najs gurka!
Hola...Ola hey after downloading Sunday drum track do I go back to your .com to upload? Help 🆘 I want to add a touch of Steelman to your Sundays, ah talking in the third person...feels good 😬
I have the same guitar
instagram.com/tv/CEUH2qEiIpH/?igshid=7n6b6docucvs
"It's not the guitar, it's the man that chugs!"
Then the answer to the question "Will it chug?" is soley dependant on the man
I'd say it %80 depends on the amp %10 percent the angle of the pick (so yeah, man) and %10 output of the pickups
I’d rather be crunch man vs chug man.
I'm convinced that playing an EVH guitar into a 5150 makes anyone 10 times better.
When can I buy that Solar with the invisible body on the left?
Solar guitars dot com 🌚
Dough, it´s camouflage finish. These jokes are getting old!
I think u got that wrong. That's a double neck with a half invisible body
you can't, that one's made especially for the emperor
@@Sticky_Tea you mean *The Senate*
What a coincidence I was just watching Eruption covers lol. Sick Evh guitar. Rip Evh.
Any particular standout covers that you’d recommend from your recent quest?
I have to say the note clarity on that guitar really is outstanding. I can hear every single chug, harmonic, single note, etc. Really sounds awesome. Oh and extra thumbs up for playing flat out metal on an EVH guitar.
Ola! There’s a tiny, fine tuner on the side of the D-tuna. You can adjust it w/ the proper Allin wrench so when you pull it from E to D, you won’t have to fine tune it every time!
Hey Ola, I noticed that when you pulled the D-Tuna out you actually swivelled the entire body of the D-TUNA 180 degrees so it won't be able to push back in properly for E standard.
I was going to say this.
When I had a D-tune I did this intentionally, because if I dove the trem, the D-tuna would half shove itself back into place due to its internal spring.
If you don’t flip the d-tuna it doesn’t drop as far so flip each direction relatively speaking and then a small fine tune adjustment works great for me. Hope that helps
If you take a guitar tech's word for it:
To make the D-tuna work properly, tremolo needs to be blocked, lowered to work one-directional only, or stabilized with an additional device. MagLok will do the trick (or Tremmory, never got it to work though). Otherwise the guitar simply won't stay in tune.
In the first half of the vid i thought the 5150 is boosted, damn what a tight amp
It the guitar i have a wolfgang and a 6505 and no other guitar sounds as tight
There's a reason why it has become such a standard metal amp. It sounds fucking awesome. I have a 6505MH that is a dream to play in my music room.
You should hear the 7020 amp. Almost sounds like a 5150 but not
I'm gonna be honest... the solar guitars have always looked f*cking killer, I've heard nothing but good things about them and they truly aren't that pricey either. Yet, I was still on the fence about buying one. It wasn't until I actually started watching your content and just saw how much of a great funny cool guy you are, it fully persuaded me to want your guitars man. henceforth why the 7 string e type is on its way rn XD. Thanks for being just a dope guy that is the best face of any guitar company I've seen. love you ola
I just installed a D-Tuna on an indo EVH for a guy. It worked perfectly.
You have to adjust the D-Tuna. There's a Hex Screw on the side of it somewhere.
Legendary combo
To get the dtuna to work you tune the headstock tuners DADGBE with the d tuna in the drop d position with the fine tuner screwed as far out as it goes. The rest of the tuners you use like a regular floyd rose.
If you need to tune the low E when you are in the e position there is a little screw in the side of the d tuna that adjusts the pitch. I just bought a 5150 evh and had the same issue for a bit till i figured it out haha.
Loved to get one of evh striped series it go great with my evh amp and 5150 pedals
Its on back order the evh red striped series
hey ola, the D-Tuna only works on guitars where the system is blocked from pulling up, just like on this EVH guitar you have there. tune it to drop-d first, with the d-tuna pulled out, then push it in and tune to standard by using the little screw in the unit. make sure the spring tension on the floyd system is high enough so it doesn't move when you tune the low e-string from d to e, so the other strings remain unaffected by the process.
Never knew this. Good info!!
With my D-Tuna I just popped it out to Drop D and popped it back in to return to standard. Had a tech set it up.
It does require a set up, but a brand new one should be?
@@kitoyobeni1 Maybe they messed up when they set it up initially.
I think tightening your trem springs will fix your d-tuna problem. The bridge shouldn’t move when you engage or disengage it.
This ^^^^^ I’d love to get one on my Floyd guitar but I love the squealies too much.
Oh, I was wondering how these work without throwing the other strings out of tune. Since the bridge is flat against the body, you can tighten up the springs so that ti stays there regardless of tuning. Interesting.
I have that same guitar. Its pretty damn nice and sounds great.
Sometimes it is almost unbelievable how different atmosphere a different microphone creates.
The other day I was recording riff ideas with my phone. My phone fell on the floor when I picked it up and listen to the audio and the sound was unreal.
For Eddie’s tone you need a MXR PHASE 90. Also you need to push the D-Tuna in and tune the string to E , then when it is pulled out it drops to a D tuning. There is a small Allen screw in the D-Tuna for fine tuning the drop D
Hey Ola! Thanks for showing this pairing awesome! The D-tuna is supposed to detune when pulled out, so you tune the string in dropped tuning 1st Incase you didn’t check the instructions.
The drop tuner works for a low E gauge of 42 when tuned down a half step. Standard tuning and heavier strings make it go out of tune wayyyy more when switching
but, it's a D-tuna, not an E-flata...
Imho it's the tension of the springs. Raising the spring tension could be a fix (only works for non-floating trems)
We need to make ola a signature pedal and call it "ola-drive"
That would be dope
Gain knob should say chug
I'd be game for that. And maybe a clap button!
I would call the tone knob chug and the gain knob burp
Needs a fart button.
I got my EVH striped used, and the D-Tuna worked perfectly. You seemed to be doing a lot more fiddling than it needs to make it work. Pull out for drop-D, push back in for standard. Mine usually needs the bar to be pushed a little bit to make some slack.
If you’ve changed string gauge it might need setting up again. If pulling out the D-Tuna made the other strings go slightly flat, it probably means the bridge wasn’t resting completely against the body with the D-Tuna in.
YOUR WALL IS ABSOLUTELY SICK
The D-Tuna works well if set-up per the factory instructions. They tend to always be off if they're not set up according to these instructions.
I installed a d tuner on my sl2h and it was great. The trick is to tune the low e string with the knob popped out(for drop d)and then pop the knob in and check the tuning. That keeps the springs at a higher tension though and it gets harder to make bends.
Great sound, again Lewitt for the Win again!
classic 5150 tone , cheers Ola.
I just bought a Solar guitar, Merry Christmas Ola! And merry Christmas me!
Juicy intro riff, Ola
Ola you can make any guitar or amp sound great it’s your fingers bro you are one hell of a player brother
Love you ola thanks for all that do bro
The wolfgang pickups are some of my favorites. Very underrated.
perfect video, just a straight forward video with some awesome gear
Perfect timing to come out with that guitar. Strike while the iron's hot
Yep... Should of ordered one right away.
That Drop D Tuna is the biggest pain in the ass!
This is a new segment. Called “Ola Breaking Shit” 🤘🏻
That drop tuner is sick
Sounds better with no boost. The second you kicked the boost on lowend was gone
Sounds better than I would have thought ..gotta be Ola!
Nice vid Ola have a great day, cheers from Cumbria UK
You're supposed to have the guitar setup in drop D with the D-tuna not engaged then when you push it in it adds that extra tension to make it standard. So technically, the default position is drop-tuned and then you engage the D tuna by pushing it in towards the neck to bring it to standard.
I use it on my seven string to go back and forth between B standard and Drop A.
Yeeeees I have that guitar, I bought it when Eddie was alive and I got it just for the look only for 666 euros and suprised me a lot, that guitar has the balls!! the pickup is killer and the guitar is as confortable as my Jem.
I compared with my LP using my Triaxis and the LP left the building (I cannot afford so many guitars) and the EVH kicked in the teeth to the Gibson, and looks soooooooooooo great!!
That was a great deal, where you bought that from?
@@nguynsketch6531 In my hometown store a couple years ago in Valladolid, Spain (Musical Tamayo), I remember that was at the same price as Thomann. Today It´s 100 eur more expensive.
Love that sound
That opening song was fucking sick
Right on
Perfect tone
Ola!!! Please review the boss pocket GT!!! I'm poor and you're the only RUclipsr I trust!
That set up sounds really good.
Your wall is looking cool btw! You need an EVH guitar up there heh
He used to have this one on the wall
Huge tone, amazing Man 👏
it should be in standard when the d-tuna is pushed in, tune and balance the trem. then pull the d-tuna backward to get it to drop d, then use the fine tuner to get it where it needs to be. it can work great if the guitar is setup properly, but it takes adjustment, like an evertune.
At last, a amp and guitar that doesn't sound like every other amp that he plays through. Its nice to hear different tones for once.
Solar Guitars that have the floyd 1000 should come with an EVH D-Tuna!
I know Chuggo probably loves this video!
Damn that sounds beautiful.
Amazin
Ola, you could make a cucumber chug 😅 I love how physically huge the Dime guitar looks on the wall compared to everything else haha.
Let’s be real, ola has the best thumbnails
Those lessons having been paying off, Ola.
There's a whole process to setting up the D-tuna. You tube your guitar to your drop tuning. Balance the tremolo spring tension. Slide the D-tuna in sand use the assisting screw on the D-tuna to get it to the correct pitch. Then you need something like a tremolo lock or stabilizer as well. I put one on my Dean ML '79 reissue
Too much work man I just want to play.
@@jamessteelman9276 Nah. It sounds like a lot on paper. The most complicated part is the balancing. But once I figured out to put a wooden block behind the tremolo it only takes a couple minutes.
@@joshritz7067 man you don't live anywhere near Dayton Ohio do ya this area needs a good guitar tech, I don't have the eyes for it or patience thanks PTSD! Na but seriously be nice if ya did ha.
@@jamessteelman9276 sorry, brother. Phoenix, AZ. But if you hit me up on Facebook I'd happily walk you through this stuff and do my best to answer any questions you got.
Nice work, as usual!!!
Great review
You nailed eddies Sound
Beautiful guitar
Thanks for the great Video
Killer man, loving the sound and looks!! ;)
Wow that guitar really can into metal.
When you went low gain it all came together, the low harmonics started pumpin
Hey Ola! I don't have a lot of money to spend for Christmas this year and I thought it would be super cool to try and put a shoutout video together. He is a huge fan of yours! Now that he has introduced me to your music, I very much am too! He is a really good dude and does a lot of things for our music community. I know its a long shot but, Would you mind creating/sending like a 15 sec shout out video just saying hi or merry Christmas? his name is
Zac
The bad part of the D tuna. have to block the bridge so no pulling back. But they work good. Have to dial in the little set screw to make it work right
Ola you can really play bro. Like you're very good. I was surprised how good you were
Hilarious and awesome. Love that you throw in Pantera wherever possible.
That sounds freakin awesome !,
Alnico 2 pickup, leaves space inbetween the over harmonics, sounds a lot more brutal actually!
you cannot use that drop tuner unless its set to non float or you get a stopper..
Ola check the pedal pitch fork by electro harmonix, is better. You can go to E standard to D or C or B or A. Is so cool
RIP TO ONE OF THE LEGENDS
Just for the record, Ola, you pull the d tuna to drop the pitch a whole tone and push it in to go back to standard.
You have to calibrate the d tuner. It will function properly then. Mine has since 1996.
Ola loves playing a note and then bending up to the same note when he plays leads.
2:11 sounds like phillip mcknight’s intro lol
Nice OLA DECKS! Yes, I didn't mixed up the e with an I...
"I'm just gonna warn you. I'm not going to play any EVH songs. It's out of my ability." Proceeds to play Ain't talking bout love by Van Halen.
Most ppl I've seen on the RUclipss dip the trem to slacken the strings when switching the D tuner. That could be where the tuning issues come from?
It's a funny feel to hear light strings chugging like this ! !
Always love tone feom OC18
Sounds killer!!
I love how u disprove morons saying the "brown sound" was fizzy, brittle, high gain, squealing. you saved me hours of conversation! its all about the cabinet. evh sound is brown colored, high gain, from far away with loads of bottom, tight and chuggy tho. u're in control, always. thats evh
Hey there Ola! Your videos are awsome. Idea for distortion pedal test: the Line 6 UBER metal pedal. See if you think it chugs!
Ola Englund the Man
Hello Ola! Greetings from the Philippines
Thanks for being original. Olas playing style is unmistakable. Thank you for not opening the video with evh riffage. Lol. Goodmorning from Texas
First time seeing the set up at the office. Love it. But where is the coffee?
Was loving the pantera 🤘
Use the littérature Hallen screw to fine tuning
that opening Riff!!!
Viewing this with 1 view shown on the video. Feels good to be early. Point of fact: It's very hard to go wrong with a 5150 boosted with an SD-1. Classic chugs.
I was read the info of this guitar the got the notification of this video :)
4:22 i get Iced Earth vibes! Jon Schafer is extremely underrated. He has write excellent songs with Iced Earth
And - of course - make a nice video about working with the D-Tuna!
I am always on a tight budget, so I got a George Lynch ltd tiger instead.
I still want a Kamikaze someday, but not the new one with the jagged headstock.
Probably one of the best guitar i own for that range of price.
