William Gallas has dismissed the possibility of Nicolas Jackson joining Arsenal this summer despite Jackson's disappointment over Chelsea's sacking of Mauricio Pochettino. Jackson, who joined Chelsea from Villarreal and scored 17 goals last season, expressed his admiration for Pochettino on social media. However, Gallas believes Jackson will stay at Chelsea and improve under new manager Enzo Maresca.
Gallas said: "Nicolas Jackson to Arsenal? No, I don’t think so. Nicolas Jackson is clearly upset at Chelsea for Pochettino leaving, Poch gave him the opportunity to have that confidence and he gave him a very good first season in the Premier League. The new manager will need time to get even more out of Jackson, but he had a very solid season, so I think he can improve again."
While Arsenal are looking for attacking reinforcements, Gallas suggests Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa as a better fit for the team's needs.
