Hiya bud, I came across a funny little glitch in Halo 2 involving Rtas Vadum and the elites in a suicidal charge, I uploaded a little video for you to check out with description of what happened. Not sure if you've covered it or if its worth covering/digging into, but thought to let you know anyway! Loving the vids as always!
I think there's a section right after this where Chief meets up with a larger group of marines and runs through the swamps to meet up with Foehammer. I'm sure those guys are save-able but the issue again is the massive numbers of flood, and the fact that the infection forms are lethal to marines. Would love to see that part!
And then in the cutscene where 343 speaks to Master Chief you can sometimes hear them screaming in the background sometimes depending on the number of marines and Flood around
@@jeffplissken8996 On Singleplayer I'd only be able to save 1 Marine if I'm extremely careful. On Co-op with my brother we'd end up saving two or three, but his friendly fire would usually kill one.
You can save them! I found if you rush the part where infection forms fall down on top of your, where they usually all die, and wipe out the popcorn flood then you can usually save all of them. Might take a few tries so that they all make it over, but once you clear that part and do your best to clear out the flood, all you have to do is plasma pistol the sentinels and the level will end, marines intact.
listening to the marines after you saved them it was like. "W-Why am I here I-I should be dead. SOMEBODY KILL ME!!!!" *Other marine shoots him in the face.* Other Marine: "I got you covered mate!"
Weird stuff like that always seems so happen when you’re not even trying. For the longest time, I thought all the marines at the beginning of Floodgate in Halo 3 were scripted to die at some point, until I somehow managed to make it out of the warehouse with 5 marines still alive.
Have you ever done the thing on Long Night of Solace (Halo Reach) where if you just stand outside the base long enough, pelicans will drop off marines to defend the door from Covenant waves?
Justin Lacek that’s how I got my first 1000 kill spree in campaign haha. Just grab wraith of platform and move it to drop zone and keep running over everyone haha
When I was younger I would literally do everything possible to save those men. They were brave soldiers and I got them out a couple times on easy but it was usually always a loss
I got it to happen by resetting the checkpoint constantly whilst trying to kill the flood at the start of the level, I’ve not been able to get them to stop as they did before tho.
Yo! Love your content dude. Have you ever considered covering some of the speedrun tricks? Would love to see your detail-oriented approach - most explanations are just HOW to do a trick, not WHY it happens. Thanks for the content dude.
You CAN actually do this on solo. But you need full grenades, and place the grenades in very specific areas right before you enter the room, try to stand at the very edge of the loading point where the marines will drop down. You need to kill all the combat forms with the grenades use an Assault Rifle and absolutely purge all the infection forms you also need a ton of luck that the marines don’t run into the infection forms.
I saved 2 of those Marines yesterday then after I thought the room was cleared a combat form jumped from above and killed one. Standing before the door/loading point, having the flood come to me helped alot.
Easy mode: It is possible to save the 3 marines and the other 10 marines in the final part of the mission Normal mode: It is still possible but it will take time to achieve it (you can make everyone survive) Heroic mode: It is possible to save the 3 marines and the 10 marines in the final part but it will take too long approx 2 days depending on your agility but it is possible Legendary mode: It is possible to save all 3 marines but it is impossible to save all 10 marines in the final part of the mission (the maximum I could save them was 8 marines, I have been trying for 5 months.
Legendary is a trip because once you're back out in the swamp with your guys, it spawns endless flood. They are basically sitting ducks and then half of the time the Marines end up killing each other by friendly fire.
When I was a kid, I use to replay checkpoints because a single marine died and this mission was no exception. It was fairly easy for me to keep one marine alive, but two was def a challenge. I think it was impossible to save the third one for me back then.
The amount of times 12 year old me tried to save them all. The amount of Revert Checkpoint’s. When I managed to do it I was so disappointed when they wouldn’t move forward.
On legendary, its so hard because they spawn at the same time as almost all of the flood. If you sit outside the edge of the door, you clear out a lot of the popcorn flood and 2-3 combat forms on the other side, but after that it is all about grenades, rushing in guns blazing, and pure luck that one doesn't get stuck on top.
In the beginning of guilty spark after you fight the covenant in front of the entrance to the complex and go down the first elevator and then go back up the first elevator there will be a few dead marines on the edge of the plateau where you fighted the covenant. I found this out by coincidence and tested it on Halo ce pc. I didn't tested it on the mcc yet. I wonder why the marines are there in their dead default lying pose.
yes you can but its VERY difficult. The ones in the basement will simply run around in circles around a pillar yelling "im outa here!", "i'm not stickin around to get killed!", "this is suicide man!", "i'm gone man this is suicide!"
I suggested this video weeks/months ago. Prior to this video, I tested it on Easy and although very difficult, you can save all 3 Marines. They'll just hold position in the room and say unique dialogue. They have very weak health though.
as a kid i always wanted to save the marine on every level, it was an obsession lol. i could never do it on this mission, i would constantly reload the checkpoint never to save any of them, thank you for this! 😂
The easier way to do this is have the bandana skull on and just don’t even get in the room where they spawn in, once your at the entrance just start spamming grenades until all of the combat forms and infection forms are dead but once you get in the room some few combat forms will spawn so be sure to kill them once the marines get down
At the end of the mission Where you meet up with a bunch of Marine’s I couldn’t save them but I was able to save Sargent when ever he was in the group (he’s randomly in the group most of the time) basically I’m saying that I successfully made Sargent the last marine standing by my side he always has been But in the structure with 3 Marine’s get killed, I remember when I was nine I played this on easy and I was successfully able to save one but then decided to be stupid and melee them because I was young and played with the physics of the game
I remember playing this mission a while back I saw Sgt Johnson not only did my brother get depressed when Johnson died early in the game series but I walked over the the dead body and he died with his mouth open but it was some kind of glitch or model screwup and it was armlength like something you'd see in a horror movie lol
I remember being able to save one marine in that room in my normal playthrough of the classic ce a long time ago but yeah I couldn't get him to follow me he would stay there, either because bungie made his character constantly paranoid (he talks like it) or that he was programmed to die, possibly both. Never could save 2 of them (only remember there being 2. One probably died as soon as i entered.) Saving all swamp marines is also impossible
The amount of hours I spent replaying this mission to try and save all the marines. It use to bum me out in halo 1 that this was the last mission with other marines
I saved two of them back when I was a kid. I killed most of the infection forms possible by the door (before entering the room), then focus on the combat forms when jumping down.
Every time I have played any of the Halo games I saved as much of the marines as possible and would restart last checkpoint to make sure I could. I've done most of this solo and also in co-op with my brother.
Ive managed to save them solo years ago on PC. Im not sure but as i remember marines spawn and run into this chamber when u step right into the door space on player side (there have to be some collision box which reach even some space of that "mini room" in elevator chamber). I stayed inside that "mini room" and just throw grenades to clean chamber before marines even spawn. Im not quite sure but ive used plasma pistol or something to shoot spores from there which were visible in range, probably also bait them to come in range by just shooting on the floor (im dont remember now if CE AI was capable to respond in that way to something like this). The most important thing was to get rid of spores than other flood forms
U can actually save all 3 much easier by not entering the room right away, hang back just outside doorway and pick off as much flood and infection forms as u can using grenades. Once ur satisfied you can enter the room and quickly mop up what’s left before they attack the marines and you should be able to save all 3 of them. As long as u don’t go in the doorway, the marines won’t spawn in. So just hang back, kill as much as u can using ur grenades and pistol, don’t enter the room until ur satisfied. This is best done if you have a shotgun by this point as u will still need to mop up some flood when u enter and without a shotgun, it’s hard to do it fast enough before the marines get killed.
@@SgtMcCullin Back then in the second mission where you use the warthog I had Johnson as a passenger and when he was almost killed I let him in the woods and after I finally killed all the covenant waves while the pelican was waiting for leaving I went with the warthog to take him back but he disappeared
