In the BF2, the anti-tank trooper/droid had the potential to be the best unit in my opinion. Hear me out: First, when starting the match, you would make it your main priority to go and get a few kills with the secondary pistol to upgrade the pistol to an elite variant. That variant was like Jango Fett's pistol and it was able to eliminate enemies in 2-3 shots with sniper rifle like range. After you had your pocket sniper, you were an "anti-everything trooper". You had the most health of all the standard units. You had mines and rockets to counter enemy armor. You had thermal detonator to flush out enemies near objectives and you could also snipe enemies. There was nothing you could not do. At that point you could also command 3 engineer units to follow you in order to give you a constant supply of ammo.
Cool. I just use the engineer to give myself heals and ammo while running up to enemies shotgun blasting them point-blank. I suck at long-distance shooting combat.
16:50 When you spawn, you'll have the default gun equipped. But when you switch off it and back to it, it will be the award weapon. So you can still use the default gun after hitting legendary, you just can't switch back to it once you put it away

When playing years ago on my PSP, I found the award pistol to be one of the strongest weapon. While the default blaster for the assault class was the best gun in the game for me.
That sniper pistol was my favorite in the space assaults cause i would just snipe the auto turrets in the ships when i was raiding. That and they were great for removing the troopers from annoying turrets. The advanced blaster rifle was a broken 3 burst unit. But i mainly played trooper or sniper depending on the map.
Best way to win space battles is to land the troop transports in the enemy hanger this will start spawning your own team in the hanger as it is a spawn point and it also has higher health than the other ships so you can easily get past the auto turrets I would still use the speed boost to take less damage one tip with landing is to order everyone to leave the vehicle bc the AI will fly the ship into the wall and you lost your spawn point so make sure no AI is in the vehicle safest thing is to do this in your own hanger before taking off so it’s just you in the ship I use this trick all the time in galactic conquest and destroy all systems and then go and take out the external systems with a bomber and the match is won usually by that point
I did that all the time as well. Though i hated in GC that the point system was so low. I would have it almost done with the escort ships and internal systems alone.
4:20 The amount of people you can have in your squad is dependent on on your Rank your rank is decided by the amount of medals you obtained. You start off at private that lets you have 1 other AI with you. One you get 20 medals in total you upgrade to Sergeant allowing you to have 2 AI members with you and is the rank everyone is defaulted to in online multiplayer to keep it fair. Once you get 100 you become a Captain which lets you have 3 AI teammates which is where your at. It caps out at 4 because once you get 300 you get general which lets you go up to having a full squad of 4 AI helping you, this plus yourself makes a squad of 5 units. (This is because in both Battlefronts the AI are considered normal troops but player characters are considered commanders this is why you can command them and why you can get into a vehicle full of AI units with one automatically getting out. Its also why they make comments about you when your completely shredding the opposition which I find really neat.) 9:50 The best way to avoid auto turrets in a space battle is to dip hard down way below the enemy ships horizon before you get into auto turret range as way below that is the autos blind spot take advantage of that. Then once close but not to close to the door as you do need room for this hard U maneuver you pull hard up and then tilt down into the bay do it right and you'll go right into the enemy ship almost unscathed. If you under shoot the distance you'll take some auto turret fire but less then if you went in head on as you will have to make the rest of the distance while the turrets are firing at you, if you over shoot you'll crash into the bottom of the enemy ship on the upward movement of the maneuver. 10:15 This is semi true in a singleplayer game knocking out the shield and the auto-turret systems will knock those out respectively but a lot of people actually don't know if your own ship has them down you can bring them back online by repairing them with the fusion cutter it takes some time but it can prevent your ship from getting shot up in the late game both in Singleplayer and in Online Multiplayer. Everything else though is down for good and cant be repaired, what's really neat about that is they have unique dialogues that explain on both sides that said ship had gotten said system back online. And I can tell you that it catches a lot of players playing online completely off guard as they don't expect the auto turrets or shield to come back online after taking it out. 16:50 3 things about the Medal Awards. As for facts the precision pistol is more powerful and can be scoped but its downside is it requires ammo which means you can run out of ammo with it and you have to reload it. Where as the blaster pistol has infinite ammo as it uses a cooling system instead but that gun can overheat. 18:25 Some vehicles are on a certain side of the battle meaning slicing them may be the only way to get them to drive in with the enemy getting in it on some fights depending on the side your playing on. Also slicing removes ALL occupants of the vehicle not just the driver. You still have to fight enemies that pop out to commandeer it but if you can this is a good way to completely disable a vehicle if the detpacks are not working for you and you can keep the enemy out of it. Or take it for yourself and go nuts with it.

The lock on to units feature is very strong on maps like Felucia and Dagobah as it'll show you where enemies are that you wouldn't otherwise be able to see. I have it bound to right click and basically spam that button the entire game so that I always know when there's an enemy close by and where they are. It's also great for Endor as it'll continue to track the ewoks that break line of sight by moving behind trees. The indicator will even change slightly to indicate they're behind an object
Yes I had no idea BF1 even had heros to play as and yes I had no bb idea you could lock onto anything in either game… and just like 90% of us here I played from 2000s onward. Great vid! Looking forward to more coverage of our childhood favorite games

The Award Pistol is the best weapon in the game. Also, for a new player, space battles is the easiest way to get the points-related awards, and it's also a great place to get both Gunslinger and Frenzy when you land in an enemy hangar since most of the time, you're facing commando pistol-wielding pilots.
I knew about most of these tips except for locking onto vehicles. Thanks tho for recounting things from my childhood :) Felt like I was in memory lane. Can't wait to play this game in a few hours!
Space battles, bombers, fighters and interceptors have a maneuver button. On a controller it’s usually the right most button (I.E. “O” on playstation, “B” on Xbox, etc). Press the button once then any cardinal direction on your left stick to do a barrel roll in that direction. Press it twice then a cardinal direction will allow you to do a complete turn around in the opposite direction you were initially flying in. So for example, tapping the button twice and then tapping left on the stick will cause your ship to do an animation that rolls and flips your ship to the left and turns you around. Tapping twice and then up (pilot controls are inverted) will make your ship do a flip down and then faces the opposite direction you were traveling. Any of the flips performed will always return your X-axis or roll axis to its original position your were flying in, just depending on which flip you performed you will either be slightly above, below, to the right or to the left of your original travel position before the flip. This is good for when you want to make consistent bombing runs to take out key points on capital ships without having to swing your ship around manually and having to correct your flight path each time.
*with regards to the pickups such as health and ammo etc, the normal singular HP pick ups regen 25% of ur base trooper HP while the HP+ammo combo will restore 50% of ur HP. I believe it also doubles the ammo pick up too.*
I farmed all the legendary medals on weapons and bonuses I wanted and having the heavy with an award pistol at the start of the match is so broken yet so fun
Awards last for a certain amount of time before death removes them, I think it’s 30 seconds. So, after getting the Frenzy award, if you die within 30 seconds of getting the award when you respawn you will still have the Frenzy rifle. This also means if you are farming certain awards to get Legendary rank you can’t get the award again until you wait 30 seconds and then die.
One tip I'll give you for a potential follow up video. Specifically in battlefront 1, getting kills is actually not the most important thing you can do to win. What's actually much more important is getting command posts. If you have more command posts than the enemy, they will lose reinforcements even without you killing them. And this gets more pronounced the larger the difference between your number of command posts is. another one I just remembered is that you can't actually roll forwards in bf1, but you can roll sideways.
Yeah so how do I get command posts? I. Assuming they are the light towers? Does standing next to one make it yours? Bc I stayed near a red one forever and it didn’t change. Also, how do u roll at all? Tia.
@@jc-yc4cq yes you stand next to it. After a bit the meter will fully drain from red and be white. At which point you have to kill all the enemies. Once all enemies are gone, you should see the meter fill up blue. There are some command posts that aren’t capturable (like the ones in space battles in bf2 and maybe the ones in capture the flag. not sure on this 100% since I don’t really play that mode) but that’s rare and if you’re in instant action or galactic conquest they should all be captureable. You roll by jumping sideways in bf1. You might need to double tap jump? It’s been a while so I’m not sure on the specifics
So crazy to see how old this game is and it has so many great features that many modern games are now missing or still have yet to implement. So sad to see modern gaming

I think only a few realized you could run over heros or blast them off ledges in bf1. I only stumbled upon it as i was in a panic when Vader was looking at me. Some heavy decided to send Vader a get well soon rocket as I was hopeless unloading on him. I watched Vader go flying with a smile. Though, the medical and gonk droid were mvps one match in Ren Var Citadel for me as 1 spawn left, 28 enemy left and i sat between both on the last capture point just gunning down everything coming down the choke point
Just figured out how to almost fix the inverted starfighter controls on console completely (not sure if this works on the first version testing might be done on this), you need to remap the left thumbstick to pitch/turn, and right thumbstick to throttle/roll
If anyone is struggling with the 501st journal campaign mission entitled "Knightfall" make sure your heavy trooper medals are all legendary and aim just next to the Jedis feet. Also, turn friendly fire off so you can place mines at melee range. Hopefully I helped but I'm also barely 2 minutes into the video myself 😂.
My favorite class is the jet trooper in BF2. Its pistol is a more upgraded pistol than the assault class and much easier to get the precision pistol. So busted on a nimble class like the jet trooper.

I played the PSP version for a very long time, I loved it. But never knew you could give commands or even reload your weapon. Unless those weren’t in the psp version I can’t remember.
I had a lot of trouble with the reticle and aiming in third person. This is because of the 16:9 ratio of the resolution. If you play the game in a 4:3 resolution you shoot exactly where you aim in 3rd person as well
For anyone trying to grind the demolition award, if you play the tutorial and keep ignoring the prompt to play as Mace Windu, you can just use the heavy trooper from the high CP and aim for the joints of the infinite spider walkers. Bit hard to do from far away but its essentially guaranteed you won't get killed trying to hit them lol
Hey if you're doing the video on things that need to be fixed in Classic Collection then here's my thoughts on your Galactic Conquest gameplay from the livestream. Buying bonuses is bad but it actually isn't different from Classic BF2, when the Rebels built a new ship it was invisible for its turn, not being visible until your next turn and when the enemy used their bonuses they didn't highlight on the screen which they should do. I also noticed how the "MOVE" and "SKIP" buttons are right next to eachother making it easy to misclick which is a problem with the UI that the original Battlefront 2 didn't have. Also to add on what I said about the UI, Sure the console UI is prettier but it was made to be used on a couch. The PC UI is form over function, being optimized for mouse and keyboard it streamlined Instant Action. It also made spawning into games better because you could see the map on the same screen as the classes whereas the console UI has you choose a spawnpoint first and then pick a class for that spawnpoint using separate screens.
Homing missiles from demolishion, atsts and laat landing ships can sprint for far more damage. Hit accelerate ca 1.5s before impact to, i think, tripple the damage and radius. Enjoy

Also, for a new player, space battles is the easiest way to get the points-related awards, and it's also a great place to get both Gunslinger and Frenzy when you land in an enemy hangar since most of the time, you're facing commando pistol-wielding pilots.

Thankfully some of the problems you mentioned are fixed in the classic collection
Space battles, bombers, fighters and interceptors have a maneuver button. On a controller it’s usually the right most button (I.E. “O” on playstation, “B” on Xbox, etc). Press the button once then any cardinal direction on your left stick to do a barrel roll in that direction. Press it twice then a cardinal direction will allow you to do a complete turn around in the opposite direction you were initially flying in. So for example, tapping the button twice and then tapping left on the stick will cause your ship to do an animation that rolls and flips your ship to the left and turns you around. Tapping twice and then up (pilot controls are inverted) will make your ship do a flip down and then faces the opposite direction you were traveling. Any of the flips performed will always return your X-axis or roll axis to its original position your were flying in, just depending on which flip you performed you will either be slightly above, below, to the right or to the left of your original travel position before the flip. This is good for when you want to make consistent bombing runs to take out key points on capital ships without having to swing your ship around manually and having to correct your flight path each time.
I remember unlocking the flechette shotgun. Knocking heroes and villains off.

*with regards to the pickups such as health and ammo etc, the normal singular HP pick ups regen 25% of ur base trooper HP while the HP+ammo combo will restore 50% of ur HP. I believe it also doubles the ammo pick up too.*
I farmed all the legendary medals on weapons and bonuses I wanted and having the heavy with an award pistol at the start of the match is so broken yet so fun
Awards last for a certain amount of time before death removes them, I think it’s 30 seconds. So, after getting the Frenzy award, if you die within 30 seconds of getting the award when you respawn you will still have the Frenzy rifle. This also means if you are farming certain awards to get Legendary rank you can’t get the award again until you wait 30 seconds and then die.

One tip I'll give you for a potential follow up video. Specifically in battlefront 1, getting kills is actually not the most important thing you can do to win. What's actually much more important is getting command posts. If you have more command posts than the enemy, they will lose reinforcements even without you killing them. And this gets more pronounced the larger the difference between your number of command posts is.
another one I just remembered is that you can't actually roll forwards in bf1, but you can roll sideways.
Yeah so how do I get command posts? I. Assuming they are the light towers? Does standing next to one make it yours? Bc I stayed near a red one forever and it didn’t change. Also, how do u roll at all? Tia.
@@jc-yc4cq yes you stand next to it. After a bit the meter will fully drain from red and be white. At which point you have to kill all the enemies. Once all enemies are gone, you should see the meter fill up blue. There are some command posts that aren’t capturable (like the ones in space battles in bf2 and maybe the ones in capture the flag. not sure on this 100% since I don’t really play that mode) but that’s rare and if you’re in instant action or galactic conquest they should all be captureable.
You roll by jumping sideways in bf1. You might need to double tap jump? It’s been a while so I’m not sure on the specifics
So crazy to see how old this game is and it has so many great features that many modern games are now missing or still have yet to implement. So sad to see modern gaming
Very much appreciate your breakdown on the weapon upgrades. I had noticed them in the after match stats page but had no idea how any of that worked. I couldn’t find any other breakdowns about them on yt
I realise now how hard core player i was when i was a kid, cuz i knew every thing u explained, and i dont even know how i knew all that stuff. But still good to be rewinded about everything ! ( To be honest the only thing i didnt know was that we could play jedi on battlefront 1 for some reason i Never found that button)
Glad to know i knew about all of these. He did say it was jist basic tips but i was really surprised that many ppl didn't know that could lock on with the rocket launchers

I think only a few realized you could run over heros or blast them off ledges in bf1. I only stumbled upon it as i was in a panic when Vader was looking at me. Some heavy decided to send Vader a get well soon rocket as I was hopeless unloading on him. I watched Vader go flying with a smile.
Though, the medical and gonk droid were mvps one match in Ren Var Citadel for me as 1 spawn left, 28 enemy left and i sat between both on the last capture point just gunning down everything coming down the choke point
You can also remove the cooldown timer for unlocking heroes in BF2, making the hero permanently available
you forgot to mention when boarding party lands in the enemy ship in space battles you can spawn directly from it...many old players didnt know this.

Just figured out how to almost fix the inverted starfighter controls on console completely (not sure if this works on the first version testing might be done on this), you need to remap the left thumbstick to pitch/turn, and right thumbstick to throttle/roll

If anyone is struggling with the 501st journal campaign mission entitled "Knightfall" make sure your heavy trooper medals are all legendary and aim just next to the Jedis feet. Also, turn friendly fire off so you can place mines at melee range. Hopefully I helped but I'm also barely 2 minutes into the video myself 😂.

My favorite class is the jet trooper in BF2. Its pistol is a more upgraded pistol than the assault class and much easier to get the precision pistol. So busted on a nimble class like the jet trooper.
Cant wait to play online. Ive wanted to play space battles in the secondary seat for so long. Or just sit in the turrets and guard the ship. Im excited to play defensively.
Please make a lot of cool videos of this game but also please play Helldivers 2 cause it's a masterpiece & similar to Star Wars!
I played the PSP version for a very long time, I loved it. But never knew you could give commands or even reload your weapon. Unless those weren’t in the psp version I can’t remember.

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get the AI to use heroes?
I had a lot of trouble with the reticle and aiming in third person. This is because of the 16:9 ratio of the resolution. If you play the game in a 4:3 resolution you shoot exactly where you aim in 3rd person as well
With the engineer tool you can also steal enemy vehicles also
I can confidently say I knew most of the stuff from the first game
For anyone trying to grind the demolition award, if you play the tutorial and keep ignoring the prompt to play as Mace Windu, you can just use the heavy trooper from the high CP and aim for the joints of the infinite spider walkers. Bit hard to do from far away but its essentially guaranteed you won't get killed trying to hit them lol

Hey if you're doing the video on things that need to be fixed in Classic Collection then here's my thoughts on your Galactic Conquest gameplay from the livestream. Buying bonuses is bad but it actually isn't different from Classic BF2, when the Rebels built a new ship it was invisible for its turn, not being visible until your next turn and when the enemy used their bonuses they didn't highlight on the screen which they should do. I also noticed how the "MOVE" and "SKIP" buttons are right next to eachother making it easy to misclick which is a problem with the UI that the original Battlefront 2 didn't have.
Also to add on what I said about the UI, Sure the console UI is prettier but it was made to be used on a couch. The PC UI is form over function, being optimized for mouse and keyboard it streamlined Instant Action. It also made spawning into games better because you could see the map on the same screen as the classes whereas the console UI has you choose a spawnpoint first and then pick a class for that spawnpoint using separate screens.
No mention of watching out for wrist rockets.

Homing missiles from demolishion, atsts and laat landing ships can sprint for far more damage.
Hit accelerate ca 1.5s before impact to, i think, tripple the damage and radius.
