"The more we get out of the car, the more we get out of the trip"...so true!
This is the kind of reporting America needs.
Every night this should be our news for the day
I love Sunday Morning Show!
Excellent video. I traveled that stretch along the Columbia River Gorge during my 5000 mile wild west road trip in 2006 ... as well as some of the others. I have been fortunate to have toured by car every state in the lower 48. I have walked in almost every National Park in the lower 48 and hundreds of state parks and national monuments. I consider myself extremely blessed. My eyes have seen a magnitude of brilliance. I am thankful.
I love taking scenic drives. ☀️ 😎 🚙
Jus drove thru Colorado and Utah for the first time. Just driving on I-70 was very scenic. Now I want to go back and see more!
I've driven many roads, Interstate and state highways. I-70 heading west out of Denver to Grand Junction is amazing. I enjoyed it better than the Pacific Coast Highway driving from SF to LA
Try route 12 in Utah!
A few years back a buddy and I took a four-week road trip across America (from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic and back); it was one of the greatest trips of my life. I now live and travel in Europe but shall never forget the beauty and awe of America’s nature.
Love it!
I rode a bicycle through the Avenue of the Giants, ( northern Calif. Redwoods), amazing what you can see when not in a vehicle.
Love love love scenic byways. We have some awesome ones in my area.
love to drive, and I LOVE THE SCENIC BY WAYS!!
Cars are Killing the Planet says CBS...Until CBS needs a Fluff Piece to promote Driving them....#walkaway....Trump 2020
This post aged . . . poorly.
I'm from the UK and will be doing a 10,000-mile motorcycle road trip in March 2021. I can't wait!
Good for you! See as much of this planet you can while on it. PCH in Ca is a beautiful trip! Hope u see some of that
Beautiful.
Great video, wish it was longer.
I’ll never forget seeing the Columbia River Gorge the first time. I had been living in OR for about 3 years and had no idea it existed. This was in the early 70s, before I-84 was built down along the river. A friend and I had gone driving just to watch the sunrise, when we came upon the Gorge. I was completely blown away. I’d never seen anything like it. These days, I drive through the whenever I leave my home in eastern OR and head to Portland or the Seattle area. It still takes my breath away.
Love these!!
Don’t forget taking back roads instead of the highway.
Drove byways 7 cross country trips including cross routes stopping at all history markers overlookes traveled in Jan in a Volkswagen Beetle covertable with a 110 lb dog in back seat. A 34 ft motor home and a variety of old cars best of America
Columbia River Gorge is the jewel in Nation's crown.
I love driving cross-country.
Great story!
That is so cool
Mine is on the I-15 from San bernandino to las vegas. I love it even though their practically nothing there.
That is odd I think bc to me there is nothing there but if u enjoy it happy trails
What some Americans have never though of or realized, is the difference between a highway and a parkway. Parkways started as just what they sound like. a Way thru a local or national park. this is why most parkways are so scenic and have grass or woods between the opposing direction lanes. Highways are the new roadway to go around the scenic route for the sake of speed and the shortening of the distance from one place to another
Apparently, my home state of Pennsylvania didn't much feel like participating in "America's scenic drives". Tiny pieces of three shared byways reach a bit into PA. That's it.
I have had the pleasure of driving across PA a few times. Beautiful state.
The run between Troy and Wellsboro on 6 is pretty exhilarating as is 15 coming south into Williamsport.
wow
A good book about byways is BLUE HIGHWAYS by William Least Heat Moon. A great read.
On the map at the beginning, I noticed Texas (where I currently live) does have any scenic byways! (I also double checked on their website....NOTHING!!!)
6 dislikes are the people who ran out of gas
💜
The map of the continental US show not one single scenic roadway in the state of Texas. A good number in the Appalachian mountain area, as well as the Western states.
1:12 Notice there are no scenic byways in the entire state of Texas lol. When I had to drive from San Antonio to my next duty station in Clovis, NM during my Air Force days, I saw nothing but flat, ugly, dry land and tumbleweeds the entire 10 hour drive. That drive was depressing asf.
What about driving through the hood of a typical large city? Why no mention of that ?
What’s up with Texas not having any?
I took a by way thru Kansas. Was stopped for speeding 2 miles over speed limit. Was searched for drugs. Then given a ticket and told if I paid an extra 50 bucks it wouldn't go on my record #smalltowncopsarecrooks
When did we stop rolling our “R’s”?
Rip Texas 😂
Funny
Europe doesn't have this
Actually almost most roads that are not highways are Scenic in Europe so they don't need to craft them also they have trains that go through some of the most beautiful parts of the world and also are more environmentally conscience
The violet violet greely pray because catamaran consecutively disagree aside a rampant plough. royal, rambunctious city
Great list! Glad you kept Montana off the list, can't tell you how ugly and unimpressive that place is! No reason to visit!
Why are there no Scenic drives on any MLK Blvd's in America yet CBS?...They are all in the Heart of Democrat-controlled Cities..
They should be so beautiful by now after 50 years of "Progressive" Politics....#walkaway...Trump 2020
there is actually a scenic MLK Blvd in SF. It's near Golden Gate Park. I did a double take when I first saw street sign. LOL
I haven’t owned a car since 2005. Cars are evil👈
PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS VOWED TO RE-BUILD THE GREAT SCENIC HIGHWAYS! MAGA! TRUMP 2020!
