I went to this show with my wife when she was pregnant with our first child. I was looking for some of his acoustic songs, and to instantly see this, before playing, seeing the first frame, I was instantly back there. Every detail, getting out late and locked out of the parking garage and running across SF in the middle of the night to catch last bart train home at 1am. We were upstairs slightly further back on the same side. Thanks, that was incredible to see, words can't express it fully.
Love you, Tim. You've been my savior. The only thing that brings any peace to my heart. It's been 20 years now and I still get the same feeling I did the first time I heard you sing. Angels walk amongst us, and you're living proof.
I turned 23 last week. I remember listening to this song while sitting in the back of my 8th grade math class instead of listening to my teacher. I wish they would release this song .
I turn 25 next week, Im still here listening and now learning this song on my own guitar. I started playing just to one day be able to play this. Whenever i stumble back to this song, I love seeing my comment, And all the memories of the younger days when i would listen for hours.
Wrapped up in a short black coat worn thin A hand around her match to block the wind She smiled as the smoke escaped her lips Then let her hand fall gently away from his. Cause it's late now, and I'm tired of all these games And the cold night stings my skin I won't say it now, but I get closer everyday to letting this world win And the city choked on everything it makes But the sunrise heals every heart it breaks And not unlike the birds we all sing songs To celebrate, to mourn or just hang on Cause it's late now, and the day has not been kind So I came here to forget It's a hard town, but I hold my head up high Like a death row cigarette Can't this all wait 'till the morning I can't think straight right now Seems like we're better off without these clenched fists All boxing us in, I want out, I want out Like Xmas lights left off till mid July We kept alive something that should have died And everyday another light burns out Till on this street we are the darkest house Cause it's late now, and everybody's left And I think I might too Like my mother said, you always leave with who you bring And I came here with you
I agree with you. By the way I like all your Tim videos. I was at his first show on the tour but had to leave before his set so watching your videos almost made up for it. Thanks for uploading them bro.
I can dig a softer more deep album from him but please i need more punk from rise against and the gang man. no matter what you do ill love it cause it's real and we can all feel it.
+0ryGreg1 I really hope this is true and you're not just messing with us. I would love to have album quality copies of the songs he's only done live. I check iTunes pretty much daily hoping they'll be there lol.
2:02 What is that lyric? It's NOT "Like a death row cigarette" like every lyric page says, because 1) that makes no sense and 2) I can distinctly hear the end word being "regrets."
God, I just love this song, I also love "Restless World" and "What Are We Gonna Do". Does anyone know if he has some plans, like releasing those singles or maybe even publishing a solo acoustic album?
I know that their song "Restless World" (which is one of my favorites), is a song Tim McIlrath only plays at concerts. Don't know if it applies to all of them ;)
Tim should release his own songs apart from rise against. Not to compete or anything with the band, it's just they're too good not to have a studio version
Rise Against has a habit, at least on recent albums and perhaps more-so on "Appeal to Reason" now that I think about it, to soften the sound of Tim's vocals. We all know that he has an incredibly powerful voice, but personally I don't feel that power being transmitted completely onto studio records.

Am still waiting for this song💕
Wrapped up in a short black coat worn thin
A hand around her match to block the wind
She smiled as the smoke escaped her lips
Then let her hand fall gently away from his.
Cause it's late now, and I'm tired of all these games
And the cold night stings my skin
I won't say it now, but I get closer everyday
to letting this world win
And the city choked on everything it makes
But the sunrise heals every heart it breaks
And not unlike the birds we all sing songs
To celebrate, to mourn or just hang on
Cause it's late now, and the day has not been kind
So I came here to forget
It's a hard town, but I hold my head up high
Like a death row cigarette
Can't this all wait 'till the morning
I can't think straight right now
Seems like we're better off without these clenched fists
All boxing us in, I want out, I want out
Like Xmas lights left off till mid July
We kept alive something that should have died
And everyday another light burns out
Till on this street we are the darkest house
Cause it's late now, and everybody's left
And I think I might too
Like my mother said, you always leave with who you bring
And I came here with you
I really hope one day that Tim will release a solo acoustic album. This is just beautiful.
Like my mama said, you always leave with who you bring
And I came here with you
He played so many songs that aren't any albums here i hope he puts them on albums.
Still upset about the fact that all these acoustic songs were not recorded in the studio
Did he? :D
Really!! (He says like a child on Christmas morning). I hope so.
I just had the same thought, but then i thought that I would very likely prefere this version over the stuido one
So I dont need a studio version :D
the lyrics are just stunning...
This song makes me cry :')
one of my favourite acoustic songs from rise against :)
One of the prettiest songs ever written
What is it?
oh my god he needs to get a solo album with all of these songs on his revival tour on it! it would be heaven :O
Beautiful song. Beautiful vocal from Tim. Made a new tab of this video.
LeeChristmas You have to do it for your own! :D
Thank you fur sharing this.
ahhhh this is refreshing
I agree with you. By the way I like all your Tim videos. I was at his first show on the tour but had to leave before his set so watching your videos almost made up for it. Thanks for uploading them bro.
I dunno if it's correct or not, but I always hear "Like a dead rose staying red."
I love this song :3
"like a dead rose stained red" !!!!
I love this so much.
I'm liking that guess not only does it sound right, it makes sense too.
Nonstop chills.
GUITARISTS: the tabs for this song are on my channel. Go learn this beautifully written song.
I can dig a softer more deep album from him but please i need more punk from rise against and the gang man. no matter what you do ill love it cause it's real and we can all feel it.
Can we get a ride against revival album for 2019 like if you agree
Like this version much more than the one I uploaded sadly enough. Haha, and yes the song name is "It's Late"
RUclips removed his cover of Emmet Till
will there be a studio version of this song ?
Kinda defeats the purpose of the song.. (see also: Restless World)
I don’t see how.
Does anyone know if rise against/tim ever recorded the this song, restless world and what are we gonna do. If so where can I find them.
He did but you can't find them anywhere. Watch for a release next year though
+0ryGreg1 source?
No source, just listen to what I'm telling you. I met and had a discussion with Tim himself.
+0ryGreg1 I really hope this is true and you're not just messing with us. I would love to have album quality copies of the songs he's only done live. I check iTunes pretty much daily hoping they'll be there lol.
+HABI7A7 You and me both.
Name is "It's Late" !
is it "like a dead rose staying red"?
late but yes i think so
+LeeChristmas just a little late haha
+Marina T i saw your comment and listened very carefully and was happy to tell you it is right and then i saw the date haha:D
+LeeChristmas lol thanks though!! I'm happy I heard it right then haha
+Marina T Some things take time
sorry for my english im from germany:D
2:02 What is that lyric? It's NOT "Like a death row cigarette" like every lyric page says, because 1) that makes no sense and 2) I can distinctly hear the end word being "regrets."
....Doesn't matter...it's still good :D
McIlrath has some explaining to do.
Why doesn't he sound like this on "Endgame"?
That was sort of the thing. Rise Against's later studio albums feel rather overproduced and flashy. Surely some of that could be toned down?
God, I just love this song, I also love "Restless World" and "What Are We Gonna Do".
Does anyone know if he has some plans, like releasing those singles or maybe even publishing a solo acoustic album?
I know that their song "Restless World" (which is one of my favorites), is a song Tim McIlrath only plays at concerts. Don't know if it applies to all of them ;)
It would be awesome if he would release a solo acoustic album :3
Has someone tabbed it? Or does someone how to play it?
I distinctly hear "death row" but the last part always changes for me.
That's not a bad guess, and it even makes sense, but in most other videos that last word of that line ends with an S sound, like "regrets."
Tim should release his own songs apart from rise against. Not to compete or anything with the band, it's just they're too good not to have a studio version
because Endgame is recorded in a studio? 0_-
Rise Against has a habit, at least on recent albums and perhaps more-so on "Appeal to Reason" now that I think about it, to soften the sound of Tim's vocals. We all know that he has an incredibly powerful voice, but personally I don't feel that power being transmitted completely onto studio records.
What do you mean?
It makes sense because someone on death row would savor a "death row cigarette"
'Like a dead rose staying red' makes even more sense if you listen to the rest of the song as well...
#BiblePass
you cant really sing that way with electric guitars with distortion, and drums and everything this is how he sings with just an acoustic by himself
Wrapped up in a short black coat worn thin

Like a death row cigarette
Can't this all wait 'til the morning

All boxing us in, I want out, I want out
Like Christmas lights left up 'till mid-July
we kept alive something that should have died
And everyday another light burns out
'till on this street we are the darkest house
Cause it's late now, and everybody's left
And I think I might too
Like my mother said, you always leave with who you bring
And I came here with you
I think he says "hold my head up high like a dead rose staying red"
I think you re right!🤣
@@biancopanna It does sound like both though, but the death row version doesn't make sense.
