  • Walk through of the install of a 2” spacer lift system for the 1st gen sportage. The rear install is very easy and can be done in 15-20 min if not replacing the shocks. The front is more difficult but if you take your time and think it through it is worth it in the end. Thank you for watching and don’t hesitate to ask a question.

    The only thing I did different in my install was to put the rear spacer above the spring. The “nubs” that the spring centers on are steel originally, and now one will be replaced by urethane. The top perch never moves, but the bottom does especially during articulation. I placed mine on top as a choice to reduce wear on the spacer as well as to reduce the chance that the spring could tear the urethane “nub” off and pop out. You can see it on my Micro-Pig video covering this lift.

    Saw one of these pop up in my area with a manual, is it worth getting? It’s an 02 with 130k miles. How hard/easy is it to find parts and any thing to look out for. Might try and take a look this weekend. Love your videos btw, really cool to see this little suv

    • @jecustoms52
      @jecustoms52  Год назад

      The manuals are definitely better. They are great suvs. Having a non interference engine takes away some of the stress related with other higher mileage vehicles and rushing to get the timing belt done. For the most part getting a parts is not bad at all although aftermarket support is lacking and requires some out of the box thinking or fabrication.

    I just bought one , a 1999 2wd 5 speed and I like it so far. It's not fast or anything but it's tons of fun and peppy enough for highways :3
    But
    A couple days ago my tire rack won't disengage when I pull the lever
    Is there a way to disengage it manually ? Badly need the trunk but no one is wanting to help me out
    Super new to this. Hope you can help
    Love your video btw ^-^

      The lift kit is on eBay, I can provide a link but I am not sure how long it would be active, it shows up with an easy eBay search of sportage lift kit and make sure you get an appropriate year. The shocks were purchased from summit racing with the part number provided in the video.
