Well, I do remember this one, and please look again-- it is well directed and carries a strong story line. Warner Bros. went crazy and came up with a zillion heroes....and had a show or two every night of the week. These 13 episodes were, at the time, an intelligent and tasteful approach to the very difficult healing period of the late 1860's and 70's. It was also a foretaste of the glut that would follow with the centennial of the Civil War. Perhaps a wounded war vet was a bit too much, so soon after the Armageddon of WWII. But then I was only 11.....what do I know.Still, to see this series, and the rare and other forgotten shows... well, Thank You. (Oh yeah, Donna-- you want Yancey Derringer (probably misspelled), the dandy San Francisco wharf detective and his silent partner Pa-who. (Pardon my phonics), who DID carry a knife--and a sawed-off shot gun under his blanket! Please bring that one back too.... Played by Jock Mahoney. ANOTHER cool series.)
David McLean (born Eugene Huth) was the "Marlboro Man"...the guy who did the cigarette commercials in the early 1960s. One of the "benefits" he received was all the free cigarettes he wanted. Later, after he developed lung cancer, he became a strong advocate for non-smoking and became instrumental in getting cigarette advertising removed from television.
Hey Copperfield I agree with you I wish they'd made more of these, one of the comments said there was only like thirteen something like that I'm going to watch them 🤗
@@KNT.63 I just finished watching all 13 with this one. I watched episode 13 first and thought it was lousy. But I ventured on and enjoyed all of the remaining 12. Overall I found 'Tate' an entertaining series. I too wish that there were many more episodes to enjoy. Many thanks to Pizzaflix for posting this 'unique' series that I had not previously heard of. I am 66 and love old tv & movies. I am a fan of TCM.
I don't remember it either,...but now that I found it ,...I like it too bad there were only thirteen episodes,....Martin Landau and Leonard Nimoy were good actors,...they were good at playing villains.First time I see Dave Mclain.
David McLean was one of the Marlboro cigarette men - ironic, I think they all died of lung cancer. Back in those days the cigarette companies claimed that cigarette were good for your lungs. The menthols actually helped your breathing and some of the ads actually had babies in them!
Never heard of this one. Interesting if not a bit unbelievable. With the glut of westerns during this period reminds me of the weird detective series of the 70's with the fat, bald, old, retired, scared, etc. detectives to fill the demand then.
If I was a one armed gunman I wouldn't be karate chopping everybody.caught a glimpse of the camel riding kid that was in ride the high country.he was the last gunmen who didn't shoot.ron starr
Tate maybe was a bit to violent for the tv executives at that time.. heavy themes of vengeance & seething hatred, very few opposers were wounded by Tate, he shot to kill.
In all the episodes he always claims hes not a bounty hunter..this guy has always gotten out of the most incredible situations..guess why it only lasted 13 episodes

Yancey Derringer was based on New Orleans, under Union occupation.
Ppl
I think they did a poor job of writing these...story line is always week and pretty much the same..
I didn’t like it. It was all made indoors in the studio. It lacked reality.
Young Martin Landau ! Hallelujah Trails!
MARTIN LANDAU!---They had alot of cool guests!
All Tate episodes are nice...

China has the One-Armed Swordsman, Japan has Zatoichi, the Blind Swordsman, and the US has Tate.

Great Show Thank You For Sharing 😄
Remarkably good acting for a tv western.
Most western actors are even better.
Tate just seems to generate woes for hapless innocent people as he moves around.
I don't remember this series at all from back in the day.
I don't remember it either,...but now that I found it ,...I like it too bad there were only thirteen episodes,....Martin Landau and Leonard Nimoy were good actors,...they were good at playing villains.First time I see Dave Mclain.
