I think a great new function this has over the previous is the very large button which any dog inside can press by accident when they are excited with noise when someone comes near the door like the postman. Bingo the door is opened, a really smart lock.

Yes that's definitely a possibility if you dog is tall enough and your Lock is low enough!
Probably a similar consideration if you have a small child.
I can't see an option to disable the button in the app,, but that's something they probably could and should add via a firmware update.

@@lets-automate Locks are generally at the same height. Dogs jump up when they get excited. I used to have a Maine Coone cat who could open the front door whilst standing by just stretching up to pull down the handle which is above the lock.
The issue is the design is not complete it a huge button which can easily be hit by pets., who open the door when I am not home. The lock should know that it was locked from outside so this means no one is at home and disable the button until someone returns, this would be smart.
The other issue I have is if someone gets in via a window then they can open the front door from inside to carry out whatever they want. If it was locked with a key they cannot open the door from inside.

Yeah, it certainly sounds like this lock is not for you. I don't have pets.
Anyone without a smart lock and who has a thumb turn on the inside will have the issue of someone being able to open the door from the inside though.
The original SwitchBot lock definitely makes it harder / impossible for it to be accidentally opened.
They should provide an option to disable the button, then you could just rotate the dial instead.

I have this and I was afraid of ordering it because I thought I would be too bothered by how bulky it is. But I'm honestly fine with it. I don't love the size, but I'm not bothered by it either. It helps that I think it looks quite nice from a front facing point of view.
The main reason I got it though is because of all the unlock options with the keypad, which I love. If it didn't have all that then to be honest, I would have gone with something more aesthetically pleasing. But for the price with all these options plus Matter support, I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Yeah, you get used to it. After all, they have to fit a fairly powerful motor in it. I think if you have a black door then it would blend in.

I wouldn't want that if it was free !!!
It's way too big and ugly, and it's pretty much useless as you have to push the door handle up to enable it to be locked......good video though

Yeah I get it. When we bought the first version we struggled with the aesthetics, but we agreed to compromise on it for the convenience of having a smart lock.
Not ready to carve into the door for an integrated one yet!
