The fact that she sacrificed her personal happiness for the sake of her people makes her a truly noble and selfless leader, worthy of the utmost respect. Her unwavering dedication to her nation, even when it came at the expense of her own desires, is a testament to her strength of character and her unwavering justice for her people.
I'm gonna get flak for being a downer, but no, Furina is still not a "good ruler of a nation". That was never her job, nor was she ever fit for such a job. Furina is a hero to Fontaine, worthy of the respect of an Archon, but she is not one, yet she should be treated with the respect of one like Zhongli, Raiden, and Nahida say so. I suppose the reason I'm so caught up with this is because if I were in Furina's shoes, like hell I'd want someone to think I'm a good ruler, I'd never want to do that again.
And don't forget shes a mortal/human being When she's playing the role with human emotion! No one can't handle such emotion like her definitely earn the best archon alongside nahida
yes it is her job to rule a natioon, archons are ALWAYS refered to as "leaders" of a nation. Deos that mean they make every decision? No. Does that mean they need to make a majority of decisions? No. Furina had final say in everything.@@draaxus2969
A really great and well written character, shame her fans really miss the point of her character in the story. She was never meant to be the archon, she was meant to be a human that is capable of achieving great deeds. Selfless actions that saves other people at the cost of her own life, even for the people who are against her, and the determination to do it for 5 centuries
I felt so bad for Furina after the archon quest, felt like she didn't get the closure she deserved. Seeing her rediscovering herself in her story quest was really touching.
She really deserve more more more then a vision, she deserves to be respected as an archon, but I am also very happy at least she got freedom, and get to live as her true self finally. Looking forward to her 2nd stroy quest, she just deserves more.
I love how, in a way, Furina's fate was opposite of Nahida's. Nahida had real power, while her own people denied and belittled it, to the point of calling her "lesser". Furina had no powers, yet people celebrated her and treated her like royalty/vip, trusting her completely. Nahida was trapped body-wise, literally imprisoned. But at the same time she was free in spirit. She traveled trough dreams and used this type of freedom to learn about the world and help her people. Furina could go anywhere and walk freely, but her spirit was trapped with no way out and no end in sight, knowing she couldn't actually help anyone. Nahida had her predecessor's legacy stolen. Furina is technically the one who "stole" her predecessor's legacy. Nahida fought to stop a fake god (scaramouche). Furina sacrificed herself so that Focalors could restore the power of a true god (the dragon sovereign). Nahida went from being neglected to being recognized as the one and only archon of sumeru. Furina went from being celebrated as the magnificent hydro archon to obscurity (at least for a while). Both were of great help for their element's dragon sovereign (healing apep, contributing to Neuvilette's full dragonhood). Edit: another parallel/opposite I found: Sumeru would have fallen if Nahida didn't take action (realizing her worth, rebelling against the academia, stepping up as the archon). Fontaine would have fallen if Furina did take action (revealing who she was, or generally doing anything that went beyond acting her part). As for Buer/Focalors: Buer was imprisoned by others, and wanted to get out and live. Focalors imprisoned herself and wanted to die.

Hoyoverse has a lot of respect for different cultures and it shows, in how they weave the story around certain countries, religions and folklore. The song was great.
My mom knows nothing of Genshin, but she loves French, so I showed her the other music video of this. She loved the song but was only able to make out a few words, and so she wanted the full scope of the story. I gave her the best version I could without having to involve Genshin specific stuff, and in the end of me paraphrasing the story, I just came here. I showed her this video, and it hit her. She loved it and was heartbroken. Genshin is so good at what they do that I was able to share this with her and get equally the same feeling from her that I felt, even though she didn’t know any much background. There’s just something powerful about that
I did the same with my mom, and she LOVED furina design mainly her Eyes, she said " her eyes are so beautiful but looks like she cried a sea of tears" indeed I said, and tell her a resume of Furina/Foçalors drama, she found it very heartbreaking.
Remember when people were saying she’s the worst and stupidest archon? But to think that she’s not even an archon but a human being who showed the dedication to her nation worthy of the true archons! She truly deserves the whole world. So precious I can’t
@@AyumiKaedehara Yeah! Furina may not be an "archon" in the technical sense now, but if she gained the respect of ACTUAL archons for what happened...it seems like she'll be invited to take a seat at the table with them regardless.
I was one of those people who find her an annoying archon.... But then after the 4.2 archon quest everything changed.... This proves that she acts so well that even the players believed in her facade as an archon ....
@@EarthJenYeah , even all the Archons including Zhongli the oldest of them all was flabergasted and in awe on what Focalors has done, destroying a Hydro Archon Throne of Heaven instead of Gnosis is the most direct middle finger to Heavenly Principles and the system she created. If there's someone that can make Heavenly Principles mad for this 500 years since Khaenriah, that person would be Focalor.
the fact that she was given a single chance to be selfish, to confide in someone other than her own thoughts for five centuries, and she chose not to take it proves she is an incredible and selfless leader, despite being only a human. but since she has lived those 500 years as the archon and pretty much gained an identity crisis from it i believe she has earned it nonetheless
Exactly this. She really could have just enjoyed her life with someone and telling that person everything, but that would mean facing the worst ending, which is Fontanians dying. She cared more about the future of the people than her own desires. She really deserves the best now as a true human.
Her responses to the troupe members also show she would've been an excellent archon had she not been forced to play her role up. Stepping in to direct a theatre production is a difficult task, yet Furina showed great leadership skills despite her reluctance. She was only ever "useless" because Focalor's plan required that she not actually know how to counter the prophecy
She made the right choice, if she revealed it to the Traveler, he/she would have leaked everything to the rest of the courthouse right afterwards, dooming the whole plan
The video is really proof that we have a Creator.❤️ If Genshin Impact is made by artistic people, how much more real life? Since Furina took over as archon before Focalors was announced to the people. She’s basically been ruling this entire time. Neuvilette helped out but it wasn’t like he knew anything about humans at first.
The team did such a great job writing her character, as a human AND as an archon, for just one character we got to see 2 different sides of her. The human furina who endured 500 years of isolation and agonizing loneliness pretending to be someone shes not with no ending insight yet still followed through so faithfully and the focalor that spent the last 500 diligently collecting energy in order to execute her plan only to die without getting to see the fruits of her own labour. Both of these are great duality of furina, considering they came from the same person before they were split, and the writers did such a good job tying these different yet so similar characters into 1
I also like how Focalor reacted to Furina's choice. And how Furina's personal opera showed how much she was ready to give up on for this world. I want to give her hugs and blankets.
Furina in general suffered. Furina is also Foçalors since she admitted that to deceive the world she must first deceive herself (Furina) by admitting that they are the same person. In fact, Furina was born knowing about the prophecy when she spoke to the mirror to Foçalors, proving that Furina is also Foçalors, but it nullified her powers and much of her memories. So Furina, even though she is not human, would be the most normal human of all. The prophecy represents the flood of the bible, even the ship of wriothesly represents noah's ark. In that sense Furina/Foçalors represent Jesus. A sacrifice, the hatred of the people in exchange for an act of salvation.
I swear, these 2d animations keep on getting better, the water movement at 1:26 are so smooth. Massive props to the artists behind these works of art. Hands down, one of the best story quests in Genshin Impact, I'm glad I've pulled for Furina, such an amazing and well written character.
Yes! the animation is so smooth… and the story quest felt like the perfect thing we needed after the archon quest. I’m so glad things ended well for furina… Isn’t the style also amazing? I don’t know about you but when I first saw this art style in a quest or event I had though it was a little too cartoonish, and quite strange, but now, its completely grown on me… Its so beautiful.
Je suis très heureux que hoyo a décidé de collaborer avec une chanteuse française pour Furina, cette chanson est vraiment magnifique. Les paroles m’ont rendu ému 💙💧
@@kkkkkkk6668No, her development was being able to put the mask off and being able to live as a true human rather than a god. Being depressed was the consequence of 500 years of keeping everything to herself and her story quest shows that she still finds meaning in acting and wants to, at the very least, be involved with it, thus giving her a new purpose.
@@kkkkkkk6668Her depression comes from her being unable to quit her act(or everyone else dies) and not having anyone to share her burden. Now that she isn’t considered in power anymore(the fontainians think she sacrificed her archon power to power the oratrice),she doesn’t need to put on a mighty act.Now Furina can be herself and do what she wants. She,although hesitant due to her 500 years masquerade, still likes acting.
In one quest she became literally my favorite fictional character out of any game, book or movie ever. Insane storytelling that I never expected to find when I first started playing Genshin. I just wanted to physically hug her for being so brave, kind and strong. It's fantastic seeing all the love from the community as well.
in 2 quests the final part of the trial and the story quest she went form my most hated character to the one i love most in what took essentially less than 2 hours of gameplay
There is no Hydroarchon anymore as the position of the hydroarchon itself was destroyed. Now Neuvilette is the defacto ruler of Fontaine, though he is not the archon. This makes Fontaine the first nation to be ruled y its corresponding elemental dragon.@@saitama1999
@@saitama1999Neuvillette is the Archon for the timebeing, he said so when ur talking "About Future of Fontaine" with Neuvillette at the end of the whole quest
Felt sick from how much Furina emotionally levelled me. She's so spectacular. Also, I love how this SQ revisits the impact of the serial murder case. The fact that the grief it wrought still lingers makes it all the more real. Those journal records left behind by the director were so heartbreaking and disturbing.
Indeed, it's how realistic it is that really hurts when I first played this part of the AQ as someone that watches True Crime documentaries. It's so sad that the diary was never found early despite it having key details that would solve the case, and this can happen irl. It's sickening what Vasher did, and I'm impressed at how well Hoyo portrayed that
@@laikeree_4213omg yes. Especially about that part about true crime- listening to the part where they read her notes out loud is so depressing because it just reminds me of all the real life “ Aurelies “ that we know from podcasts and documentaries. Some of which have yet to be solved. At least this story quest got some closure…
This scene was really unique because it is the first time we see Furina showcasing her power, which is her ability to perform. Unlike the other archons, Furina has absolutely no combat experience or knowledge of it, and we started off doubting her abilities. This scene truly showcases why the people of Fontaine actually adore her so much, despite her having no archon powers. Additionally I see her as the loneliest archon. Even though Zhongli, Venti, Ei, and Nahida have all been isolated in the past in their own ways somehow, Furina had to endure 500 years of loneliness with no one to confide in *as a human*. Imagine living for 500 years, and then add the fact that you have to pretend to be someone else while doing so, and you can’t tell anyone.
It's even worse when you think that after 500 years of acting the way of someone, you forget who you used to be and that person you acted as somewhat blurs into your real self. Y'know?
@@eleden99 And the nail in the coffin must be near the end where she thought that after the endless and painful 500 years it was all for naught. I can't imagine the pain that must've struck her at that point.
Well, if you read her character story. After the Archon quest, Furina moved out immediately to a simple apartment. 500 years acting plus what happened at the court may have given her depression, girl lost the will to tidy her room, shut herself in, eating macaroni day by day thinking didn't "free" means being someone who no one needed? Even Clorinde was shocked to see Furina states when she paid her a visit, and wanted to take Furina in, but she refused.
@@kolapsg7748Yeah but Ei was a meditative isolation to stave off Erosion, aka loss of memories, sense of self and bouts of explosive anger over this. Furina didn't have any of that and kept acting as how the Fontainians thought an Archon should act for 500 years......and she was able to not lose her normal self as a humble girl that just wanted to experience the world. Heck, this now recontextualizes all the moments when she spoke to herself and we saw it, she doubled down because that was what people expected of her act.
For some reason, that dramatic turn around with the accompanying beat drop and lens flare at 1:44 always seems to get me. It was first done by Ganyu, Hu Tao, and Kokomi. Now it was done by a male NPC and I STILL feel emotion swell within me. It's like magic.
@@raifikarj6698 For Ganyu, it is near the end of her character teaser. For Hu Tao, it is near the end of her character teaser. For Kokomi... it is also near the end of her character teaser. I think I see a pattern here now.
The story behind that male NPC is really deep too. His director/crush got murdered right before this performance, and he's doing all of this as a way to send her off. Freaking Vacher man, we got Celestia that nukes civilizations, and Abyss that seeks to destroy every living being, yet humanity's crimes are the most depraved of them all.
Furina singing in French really reminds me of when Yun Jin sang in Mandarin Chinese back in the 2022 Lantern Rite. I really hope we get to see more characters do songs in their native langauges. Even if they don't sing it will still be cool to have more characters do traditional dances, like Nilou with her Persian dance and Eula with the Spanish flamenco.
I was just thinking about how they said that Mondstadt will be added to. I hope they add a German song or more things that seem uniquely German and not just European.
@@StephanieDraconia yeah I hope so too. Mondstadt’s dancer does a dance from Spain and it would be nice to see one form Germany. Maybe Venti the German performer we’ve been lookin for this whole time.
I'm just happy that unlike the sung part of the demo, the French is this time easily understandable because in the said demo it was difficult to understand what was being said on first viewing even among fans of the French-speaking community.
Furina might have been human, but her resolve and patience is that of a true Archon. She still deserves to be called a God. Furina was the actor for the God of Justice... but she has never gotten justice herself for 500 years. It's just as she said, "Patience is a virtue." I'm so glad that I managed to pull for her!
To be honest Furina is the smartest character in the entire teyvet, she was able to hide her true identity as a human from the people for 500 years pretending to be an archon and even the most knowledgeable judge did not discover that except after 500 years. Truly magnificent
I think looking at her intelligence might be missing the point a bit. Nahida, Dottore, or even her counterpart of Focalors all make her look pretty dumb by comparison. But she has amazing acting skills to deceive an entire nation, and impressive willpower to stick to the act, no matter how painfully lonely it got.
I just wish people of Fontaine knew the WHOLE truth of what Furina endured for them. She literally neglected herself in order for them to be saved yet some people blame and hate her. This was truly an act of self dedication and the most important role she had to play. Bravo.
I just finished playing her storyquest and when she visited Poisson and met Navia I felt so upset about their dialogue. I get that the people of Poisson went to a lot of trauma but if only they would know what Furina actually went through the past 500 years 🥲
The official declaration from Neuvillette says Hydro Archon sacrifices all her power and throne to save Fontaine. Therefore Fontainians still show high respect to Furina and admit Furina is still their god. Moreover, the other 4 gods show high respect to Furina in their new voice line, and they still admit Furina is the God of Justice.
We cannot tell the truth because all the plan is to fool heavenly principle, so we need less people to know the truth. But don’t worry, because people know Hydro Archon’s sacrifice, so Furina is still beloved❤
@@vincentvigano9990I think it was stated in her story quest. Not sure if Neuvillette said it though, but if it was an official declaration it's probably Neuvillette only.
@@saurabhsharma6168Well, the French music that is popular these days is not really at its best level because even if there are some artists with good lyrics, the majority of them make songs with stupid lyrics and uninspired music. Anyway, a lot of old songs are really very good. Note, however, that many are French covers of American songs (even if it was rare for the lyrics to keep the same meaning), especially in the rock'n'roll side. If I had to recommend French-speaking artists (there are Belgians in them) who have left their mark on France, I would say Johnny Hallyday (he's more or less the French-speaking Elvis: he was a fan and was enormously inspired by him in his young years), Jean-Jacques Goldman (my favorite, he wrote many popular songs for other artists), Léo Ferré, Michel Sardou, Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg, Nino Ferrer, Charles Aznavour, Francis Cabrel, Laurent Voulzy, Georges Brassens, Michel Berger, Claude François, Joe Dassin, Charles Trenet, Renaud, Hugues Aufray (his French version of "Mr. Tambourine Man", "L'homme orchestre", rocked my childhood), Henri Salvador ("Le loup, la biche et le chevalier", better known as "Une chanson douce", is one of the most popular lullabies in France). A more recent one (he started his career in the 90s) that I love is MC Solaar. His texts are very good and studied in French classes of foreign countries. I could also mention Damien Saez but his voice is quite unusual (his detractors say he sounds like a goat) and his songs are tinged with depression, besides he has alcoholism problems and has already been drunk on stage. Renan Luce also deserves to be mentioned. Regarding French-speaking female singers, I know a lot less but the most obvious is Édith Piaf. Other well-known names are Mylène Farmer, Dalida, Céline Dion, Barbara, Patricia Kaas, Françoise Hardy, Sylvie Vartan, Frances Gall, Véronique Sanson, Zazie, Jeanne Mas and surely others that I forget or have never listened to. As for more recent female singers I find them too often overrated. That said, I like Olivia Ruiz. There you have it, with all these names you should be able to expand your knowledge about French song! 👍 PS: I didn't mention them because the few lyrics in their music are in English but Daft Punk is also a French duo which I don't think I need to introduce.
As Focalors said, the most difficult part to keep that secret is to fight against humanity, and that's what Furina had to do to herself during the past 500 years, no matter how many times she felt desperate and suffered in loneliness, she had to endure all of them and even had to kill her own soul while no one can stand on her side and share her pain. She was just a little girl who chooses to start her fate for an unknown future of the people of Fontaine without knowing she was going to walk down onto a thorny road for 500 years. On the other hand, Focalors might be the very first existence who successfully weaken the system created by Heavenly Principles. Archorns might all have experienced pains from their losses in different ways in the past, but Focalors clearly had chosen a different path to resist the fate since she succeed Egeria on the throne, she planned the ultimate rebellion she can make and sacrifice all that she had even her self to it to save her people. Her death scene was so dramatic and I probably will never forget it. to me, Focalors and Furina had perfectly performed two faces of the Hydro Archorn, together the move they made, is truly something that Teyvat had never seen.
Please tell me im not the only one who teared up while watching this. The singing, the lyrics, and the animation..I just feel so happy for Furina, she can finally be herself ❤
IM so sad but I felt she will not have a 2nd story😢cuz she is a human and without more messages about Archon, maybe the 2nd in Fontaine will give hydro dragon😢
@@江生-v1t She is gonna get a 2nd story quest. If you look at the similarities between her and the other archons, she is actually treated pretty similar. All archons have their constellations as a silhouette of themselves, and the same applies to Furina. Neuvillette doesn't have this, and instead has a normal constellation. She also has already earned her title of archon to many players. Even if she isn't an actual born god, she has helped her nation far more than any of the archons we have seen up to now. The people of Fontaine still refer to her as "Lady Furina" as well. Pretty sure if everyone in Fontaine knew of what Furina did (If they actually do and I missed a detail then mb), and Furina wanted to stay as the archon, they would gladly let her.
Yes because every others archon quests have a good lore and story but a really bad storytelling, 4.2 archon quest have a really good lore, story and! storytelling.
One noble, but tragic trait of Furina is her weak sense of "self": she was already born to be kind, and her five hundred years of selfless sacrifice has engrained the principle "I place the value of any person above my own" into her bones. Even after being freed from the shackles of the prophecy, this almost nonexistent sense of self of hers remains: for instance, she was still blaming herself for the deaths at Poisson, even though she was already doing her best playing her part, all the while ignoring her own suffering in all this. In some sense, apologies and gratitude mean little to her, and might make her feel even more guilty about the people she couldn't help... La vaguelette reflects that noble soul of hers beautifully.
@@mystery8820 You know how when someone does something amazing and some people would go "OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU!!! MARRY ME!!!" Do they really mean it? If you bent down on one knee they would almost always say they were joking. Such is the case of Furina saying "Pearls before swine." Shes simply exaggerating because its a habit she's gotten from playing an act for 500 years. She probably meant to say somethinf like "You're annoying" in the most dramatic way possible.
Well it's because she is responsible for Poisson - in her act we are shown that she was so used to her routine and drained empty that she shruged off all warnings about Poisson and thus didn't order evacuation when she could. Remember when Hydro Dragon has shown her a list od casualities? He kicked her out of her role for a second and we can see how terrified she was realising what just happend. Not to mention that he knew about her investigations and monitorings so propably suspected that she knew beforehand.

What crushed me was that part showing scene 182375, when she is talking to the descendent of a family she first talked to centuries ago, starts crying without noticing. Can't believe this story arc is actually better than Sumeru. People that think Genshin Impact is just a mobile gacha with waifus should give the game a shot. It's so much more.
The game has its ups and downs in terms of story quality but if you manage to put up with Inazuma, which was very poorly written, you will see good sagas like Sumeru or even better sagas like those of Fontaine or the Dainslef missions in general.
yes, im so glad they are treating narratives carefully instead of just caring about digging in cash and being perfunctory by writing tacky and souless stories
I couldn't hold my tears when the vision dropped, this is so well deserved, she is the greatest hero of all Fontaine among humans. Knowing it's actually Neuvilette who gave it to her while watching her performance makes it even better 😭
@ILoveChicken2021 Yup, and if you closely examine her vision, it has 4 dragon fangs. No other Fontaine character has it. Neuvilette is looking after her in his own way. It's quite cute if you think about it. Even his quote on her is he wants to be there when she acts and give a heartfelt round of applause
Been awhile since I was interested in a Genshin Character, I'd say they nailed her. Her suffering, her pain and what her divine self put her through is pretty unthinkable to begin with. She had to fool everyone for 5 centuries just so she can save her people from the catastrophe that would occur in the story. All wrapped up in a beautiful bow tie with this character story event. Yeah they did good with this release.
The prophecy represents the flood of the bible, even the ship of wriothesly represents noah's ark. In that sense Furina/Foçalors represent Jesus. A sacrifice, the hatred of the people in exchange for an act of salvation.
@@hinachan70I love how our perception of Celestia has gradually shifted with each piece of the puzzle from each continent, and the balance tipped here in Fontaine, at the midway point.
This song completes Furina as a character. In the archon quest we get to know her pain, this play shows the other side of her 500 years' suffering, her unwavering will to protect her people as a god who loves the world. May all the beauty be blessed.
The "Little Oceanid" play means a lot more for Furina than you might think. As the story goes, the oceanid sacrifices herself to save the human she loved and even the people who persecuted her. This parallels with how Focalors sacrificed herself to save the Fontainians whom she is trying to protect yet had her put into trial and eventually into a death sentence. With everything they've been through, may Focalors found peace in her final dance, and may Furina live on freely as a human, that which both she and Focalors dreamed of.
It's not the death sentence that parallels her to the little oceanid story, it's the people who questioned her like the knave and even towards the end, neuvillette, navia, clorinde, and the traveller. The death sentence was agreed by everyone was never meant for her
Not only this, the thought of her failing to act as an archon after all these years, her failing mission she had and because of this her nation disappearing... without knowing a thing about what "mirror me" was going to do.
Honestly, Furina is the most popular character right now as everything from teasers, archon quests, demos and even her story videos are portrayed very well, Moreover, she always wanted to be the center of attention and now that has become a reality, She is truly great in many ways
There was not a single cosplayer of her on a con I went not too long ago (there's always way too many genshin cosplayers), my cosplay of her arrived too late. Next con I won't be the only one for sure now she popped of. But she was always best girl for me from the start
All the archon's character's are great, but they all have a dash of heartbreak and sadness mixed in them as well, all in different ways. Can't get enough of that, when you really look back they really all are one in the same
Furina's story quest hit me like nothing else from this game has. The experience of doing something you love, but doing it as a duty - as a job - and then the pressures of that duty traumatizing you so much that it destroys the passion your originally had... Watching Furina rediscover her passion and rekindle her joy broke me. I feel her pain deeply but I am also so happy to see her turn things around in the aftermath.
I was not expecting Furina's singing voice to be in French nor to be so, Angelically & bewitching it's both beautiful yet melancholy at the exact same time, you can "FEEL" her Pain, Suffering, Resolve, & Unwavering Love for her people...all intertwined a single voice. This hit's different now that the "Finale" of 4.2 has played out.. The song shows with her singing that through it all She truly is worthy of being a "Divine Being."

@@amateurbarnaby I litteraly said that "both Monstatd and Fontaine have been inspired by Europe"... and this is also why I said "main inspiration" and not "only inspiration". As for Monstatd, Fontaine have some little referencies from other country around. But we can see that Hoyo push really hard the french part when it comes to Furina, lyrics in French in her demo and now they even put it in her story quest, they never really do that for a Monstatd character, or maybe I forgot...
Fontaine is most definitely one of the BEST regions, if not the best. The storyline was so interesting and I was always on the edge of my seat. The emotions shown almost drove me to tears (which means a lot coming from me because I barely EVER cry). From Lyney’s tragic performance to the Primordial Sea flooding the Fortress to Focalors demise, I enjoyed every single bit of these quests. I promise you that they get better and better. I have high hopes for Natlan. Genshin, please don’t disappoint.
Can we just talk about how hard they went with this entire video. The singer. Aesthetics. The entire scene play. The music. Never in any game I have EVER played, was as phenomenal as when I witnessed this right here during gameplay. I was blown away so hard, and still get chills.
Furina and before her Neuvillette. Genshin's story telling has taken a step up like never before. Thanks for creating two of the most memorable video game characters ever .
Honestly my heart hurts for Furina. What a selfless person, enduring what she did for 5 centuries. Unfathomable. Her story quest was one of the best I’ve done and the cutscene was so beautiful. I’m glad I always liked her character. So well written by Hoyo. They went above and beyond
This song was all a musical they acted, but i cried my eyes out bc it also resembles Furina’s story with her people :( Every time genshine reveal the story of an archon, i sit there and think that there’s nothing more miserable than this archon, then BOOM, the next archon is even more heart breaking. Ei broke me then Nahida and Rukkhadevata and now Furina. not mentioning the Adepti, Xiao, Shenhe and madame ping T.T
Her story is simply too good. Although I was saving for maybe arlechino and clorinde, I just went and got her weapon. For her who sacrificed everything, I want to give everything and a very special place in my genshin account. Thank you Furina for all the sacrifices you have made and for being the actual tragic star of the quest . An archon who went against the laws of the heavenly principles and saved her people from extinction
wasn't it actually focalors tho? Furina just did what she said. Also...I still find it arguable (people always just go by their simple emotions), the principles exist for a reason. The law was not to create more humans, these oceanid humans should not exist, period. A nation basically went against the laws of their superiors. I'm still on celestia's side. I hope in the end of the game we can decide to either side with the dragons or with the gods.
@@glasperle77 while Furina did what focalors said, to keep up that promise and never reveal even at her lowest point requires a will few have and that is what's admirable for her . Also about the transformation of the oceanids to human and breaking the laws, the heavenly principles are outsiders to this world, they took the 7 dragons power and took over this world. By that logic the hydro archon did the right thing. She created her people, fooled the usurper, released the power of the water dragon back to its rightful owner and was awarded with her people's salvation . We can't make choices if we don't have the full picture . We can't see who is right or wrong . So far celestia isn't a righteous land but rather a land who is feared by its emissaries to the teyvat world
@@glasperle77 I'd argue that Furina did 99% of the work though. Focalors made a machine that collected indemnitium for the past 500 years and just waited. Whereas it was up to Furina to deceive the heavenly principles for those 500 years.
@@glasperle77 oh so imagine you live hapily ever after for more than 20 generation in your country. Then i come to your house and declare war to u and all of your homie. And in the end I got your whole money, house, and land. Then i claim all of it as mine from the beginning and try to sweep off everybody that knows my sin in the past. That’s what celestia, the second who came, and even primordial one did to Teyvat. They took the real owner (the sovereign dragon) of the planet and their true power (elemental power). What a colonist. Luckily its a fiction story. wait a minute, “Fiction”? 🤨
Hoyoverse really improved over the years, from the animation to the soundtrack to the actual gameplay and characters. It’s amazing, also the French singing was so unexpected but so beautiful
Easily one of the best Story Quest cutscenes yet. The lyrical soundtrack on top of the paralleling story... I can't wait for her second story quest to further uncover who and what she is capable of.
The philosophical meaning of this song is so good. The meaning is that you have to sacrifice something in order to get something, living between the rope and the pit falls. she sacrifices her truth of their fate to save her people, it is bending the fate itself, the fate that one day she will be alone on her throne, so she keeps her promise sacrificing herself. both her and focalors sacrificed something but is it for them is it truly for their self? their Ideals? no its sense of responsibility and love! for the people that makes the world thriving, makes it worth living, hard work of each individual giving gratitude giving the deserved love of one another...
I love that they used French title rules for the title "La vaguelette", (in French when you are making a title, only the first word is capitalized whereas in English it's basically every word) the little details make it just so much better!
Furina will always be one of a kind, her story in the latest Archon Quest has broken my heart, And I'm just happy that she is finally free from this curse and now becomes human to find peace, well written character Hoyoverse!
After the revelation in this new chapter everyone started to see the figure of Furina with respect, damm she's really strong (emotionally). 500 years acting and suffering her secret in silence without even failing once, we can even see in the opera between the traveler and Furina she weren't gonna reveal the truth to the traveler in Poisson either. Seeing her crying in the throne after thinking all her work and suffering was for nothing was devastating, but later realizing her "image in the mirror" was right and she was finally free was beautiful. Awesome work Hoyoverse, truly amazing.
After all the suffering she endured, and the major identity crisis she must of developed, to see her perform on stage after swearing it off, proved that her love for theater was the one thing that never changed after all those centuries. That's really beautiful to me. Holy cow, this character 😍
The genshin impact developers truly put so much passion and love into their creation. Furina is now one of my favorite characters. This cutscene was absolutely stunning.
At first, I hated how Furina acted ( even doubting that she was an archon ), but considering the things that she went through to uphold her “ justice “ and save her nation makes her the God of Justice in my heart. She is so well-written.
@@nakoni for sure, that entire bit was definitely meant to be a mirror of her haters before 4.2, except haters are even worse than fontainians because players are deliberately being told that her personality is a facade and she's clearly hiding something, but oh nooo she's useless let's hate her
@@ziggystarduskThe average Genshin player's opinion is usually very extreme and biased. They usually misunderstand the lore and base their opinions on memes they see about the game thinking those memes are accurate.
I love how everyone thought her facade was that she was acting weak, the truth with her being a human playing the role of god is a way better writing choice than I could've imagined
Not going to lie, at first, I thought she was really full of herself. But after going through the story, I was wrong and misjudged. She had been suffering for 500 years and was all alone with no one to lean on. Now that it all comes to an end, I wish her happiness and hope that she will never have to suffer again. If there was an option in the game where we could ease her 500 year loneliness, I would definitely take that option. She deserves to be treated nicely for all she has done.
She deserves better, she never got any apologies at ALL. She literally placed her mental health aside to act like a god in order to save fontaine for 500 YEARS. She reached her limit and didn't even noticed she was crying.
Furina was so well written and has so much depth, knowing everything that she went through, I can’t help but wish her every happiness. I have to admit, she’s brought me to tears more than any other character, now I just hope she can be happy, in her own special way.
Despite being powerless, and absent of any divinity.. She still have the heart of a true archon. When arlecchino threatened her and she beg for her life.. its not herself she is worried about, she worried about Fountaine...she worried about the plan failing. she didn't report the attack to anyone, cause it will jeopardize the plan.
Not me. A liar is a liar, and no amount of necessity makes lying any more excusable. People love holding other archons to a high standard, but not Furina, which is funny how unfair it was, considering how Focalors was the god of Justice.
Honestly, Furina's quest was super amazing and honestly, one of the best character quests. The song was super beautiful and I'm happy to see Genshin Impact tackle all kinds of beautiful languages and music for their game! She may not be the true Hydro Archon, but she still is Focalors body and is the embodiment of her wish to be human. Furina living as a human, is what Focalors wanted, but sadly, could not be, when she had everything thrust upon her, when she became an archon. She honestly succeeded in a way that Zhongli could not, as in, he "kills" his role as an archon to all of Liyue, but can't decieve certain groups who know who he really is and she also had similar methods to her other archons with Venti's sense of freedom (obtained after everything for Furina), Ei's detached spirit (Focalors was able to detach her divinity and from her body/spirit and placed herself into a machine) and Rukkhadevata's love for her other half, as in, she was also willing to erase herself, so Nahida could walk on her own and live her life and Focalors did something similar for both Furina and Neuvillette. Damn, this just so good for a story! Also the other archons are aware of Furina and know of her story, they HIGHLY respect her and those voicelines are amazing for it.
Whoever hired the story writer deserves praise for sure. This is the first Archon quest that makes me feel so attached to a character I barely know for a moment (focalors, not furina). rest now, you've played your part well.
@@MinJyo-Ciel my apologies if what I said left you puzzled. what I meant by whoever hired is that the writer's talent was recognized by and entrusted to handle the story flow. from my understanding, it's like, you're an artist but it's less impactful when your talent is not found. So in short, I'm glad they hired this writer for her story. They deserve praises much as you said.
I feel so bad for Furina, i felt the archon quest didn't end properly, furina was basically excluded after the trial, i felt so sad for her, i would like to see traveler talking to her and letting her have a happy ending....
The fact that Furina canonically have this angelic voice made my day. She is basically a precious angel in the human body. Well, she's an Archon after all, always will be in my eyes. This song and choir made me chill. This song means so much with Furina in mind.

Easily one of the best archon quests of all time Imo sumeru archon quest was good but Fontaine is another level And hope furina lives peacefully as a human now She has done enough carrying the burden of an archon long enough And this story teaser will personally be one of my favorites We need more singing teasers
Her whole story made me more sad than any other story, the part where she sits on her bed and cries about how much longer she has to continue this act really hit me harder than anything in this whole game and thats not an exaggeration
I think deep down, we all know who the "Little Oceanid" supposed to represent is. Furina truly made people into believers in the grandest of Opera she played. People thought she was annoying, dumb, selfish, and ignorant. But she was the exact opposite, making people that oppose her before a fool. She is just like Eula, where she gets hate from both ingame and in real life, just because people don't understand yet what the inside.
Well at least unlike Eula, Furina’s willing to still reach out to people in spite of what they think of her. Eula’s kind of a defeatist herself tho ngl and that’s not entirely good for her in the long run. I understand why she wouldn’t bother anymore but that’s still not an excuse. Furina >>>>>>>>>>> Eula.
The part from 1:26 onwards always makes me sob, no matter how many times I listen 😭😭😭 Furina may not be a hydro archon but she sure is controlling the Hydro in my eyes, lol
Same, I keep replaying it. 4.2 got me messed up- I need to lie down. When Pauleau turns around to look for his lost lover at "Yet I am here, and here I shall remain," after she had given herself up... ouch times one million.
By the end the one big blue water drop encircled with 2 other smaller water drop was definitely a reference to Furina, Focalors and Neuvillette, kinda creative
J’ai tellement pleuré lorsqu’elle a commencé à chanter en français 😭💙 Furina est tout simplement incroyable, je l’ai aimée dès le début et je l’aime encore plus maintenant
Her story broke my heart so much, I really wished for the Traveler to hug her, comfort her, to tell her she did great, that she doesn't have to suffer anymore.
I watched the entire Archon quest of this version on RUclips. Watching the cutscene about the truth of Furina and Focalor's plan killed me emotionally. I seem to relate to Furina because of all those traumas and loneliness she experienced throughout those five hundred centuries........ I couldn't stop crying during that cutscene. Furina is another GI character after Scaramouche aka Wanderer to who relate so much. And this cutscene about Furina singing the finale also made me emotional 🥺💔
The way I sobbed loudly during this part in her SQ... Furina really brought out so many crying moments of me in AQ and her SQ! I love her so much, she deserves true happiness.
When i heard the vocal, it immediately brought me to tears. It's so beautiful and depressing. Hoyo put so much effort in designing Furina, and to me, i think she's the most well written character by far.
0:26-0:581:27-2:01 cécilia cara's vocals are STUNNING and i hope whoever in production that decided to bring her in gets huge kudos!! would love to hear her insert song as an officially released track someday. in the meantime i love how this cutscene works as both an almost-MV and bittersweet story of furina's journey :') 💙🤍
As of this moment, Furina is my favorite character in Genshin, tied to a role her entire life for over 500 years till finally being free from that role yet even so, after all this time she has to learn who she is as a person. Honestly, if they had characters join Aether/Lumine on their quest, I would say Furina and Xiao just so we can explore even more of their characters rather always being just Traveler and Paimon/Emergency Food/Mora Spender.

@@nyankosoldier5156Arguably, I assume that the song was written in French (if not maybe Chinese) from the start, and when you do translate songs, you wouldn't keep the exact 1:1 meaning from a language to another, sometimes instead opting for lyrics that 1)flow better in the translated language (which is what most the translation in English does here) 2)replace words/expressions that either don't exist in the target, or the original language (the usage of thee and the likes when the French vocals don't use the old language equivalent to fit the theatric narrative, but also expands to directly tl /douce et amère/ as its intended meaning, bittersweet (=doux-amer being its true spelling but wrote differently for the song's flow) instead of bitter & sweet. All and all, the English translation isn't exactly a 1:1 and does take a few liberties from French, however both lyrics inherently keep the same meaning, même si implicitement (Non, même le grand amour ne suffit pas = No, even true love isn't enough basically means the same thing as "If only true love was enough", but the latter flows better lyrically in English and conveys the same idea in a more poetic way than a literal tl
Which is all the more true since the lyrics in English aren't meant to be sung as they are, so it leaves more room for lyrical liberty as long as the meaning remains somewhat consistent
Seriously why can't we replay amazing story quest like this? Would love to relive it over and over again. Instead of just watching it on youtube. Please for the love of god make these replayable.

I’m looking forward to her second story quest
Imao
They took the Raiden route with her, that is really good..
She really deserve more more more then a vision, she deserves to be respected as an archon, but I am also very happy at least she got freedom, and get to live as her true self finally.
Looking forward to her 2nd stroy quest, she just deserves more.
I really hope she can become a god again. Even if not as the hydro archon, at least the god of justice
Edit: another parallel/opposite I found:
Sumeru would have fallen if Nahida didn't take action (realizing her worth, rebelling against the academia, stepping up as the archon).
Fontaine would have fallen if Furina did take action (revealing who she was, or generally doing anything that went beyond acting her part).
As for Buer/Focalors:
Buer was imprisoned by others, and wanted to get out and live.
Focalors imprisoned herself and wanted to die.
wow, that's really cool!

Genshin is so good at what they do that I was able to share this with her and get equally the same feeling from her that I felt, even though she didn’t know any much background.

the fact that she was given a single chance to be selfish, to confide in someone other than her own thoughts for five centuries, and she chose not to take it proves she is an incredible and selfless leader, despite being only a human. but since she has lived those 500 years as the archon and pretty much gained an identity crisis from it i believe she has earned it nonetheless

Both of these are great duality of furina, considering they came from the same person before they were split, and the writers did such a good job tying these different yet so similar characters into 1
yea, still hurts me though that the whole her that split into halves had to suffer so much
I also like how Focalor reacted to Furina's choice.
Think that if you have Furina in the Banner you have a dam jesus reference as character.

Furina is probably the best thing to come out of Genshin so far. Her writing is so beautiful and her character development is INSANE!!
uh isnt the only development she got is being depressed in the aftermath? shes already peak the moment she choose to play the role
Felt sick from how much Furina emotionally levelled me. She's so spectacular. Also, I love how this SQ revisits the impact of the serial murder case. The fact that the grief it wrought still lingers makes it all the more real. Those journal records left behind by the director were so heartbreaking and disturbing.
screw Vacher. seriously.
Fortunately(?) I was already quite sick before I started playing, but yeah the AC quest left me with an extra pit in my stomach :,)
So now, who is the hydro archon?.
Furina received her vision in her story quest. But it doesn't explain who is next hydro archon.
Even Clorinde was shocked to see Furina states when she paid her a visit, and wanted to take Furina in, but she refused.
even nahida talk to her people trough dream
ei, she chose to be alone
but furina she forced to be alone, she has endure it for 500 years
😢
From which video each of those moments, care to share it?

Well in HSR & HI3 they been doing that (bonus a whole animation cutscene).
Could not have said it better. She may not be a real Archon but she deserves that title.

To be honest Furina is the smartest character in the entire teyvet, she was able to hide her true identity as a human from the people for 500 years pretending to be an archon and even the most knowledgeable judge did not discover that except after 500 years. Truly magnificent
Even Ei admired her will and compare hers to that of a god
perhaps not the absolute smartest, but one of the strongest willed
I think looking at her intelligence might be missing the point a bit. Nahida, Dottore, or even her counterpart of Focalors all make her look pretty dumb by comparison.
But she has amazing acting skills to deceive an entire nation, and impressive willpower to stick to the act, no matter how painfully lonely it got.
I wonder if Nahida knew Furina wasn't an archon when she talked about her after the sumeru quest? 🤔
@@lowliethxd1471 I don't think so, if she did, Celestia would also know
I just wish people of Fontaine knew the WHOLE truth of what Furina endured for them. She literally neglected herself in order for them to be saved yet some people blame and hate her.

I don't know anything about French music ..but yeah..it was beautiful..🔥
PS: I didn't mention them because the few lyrics in their music are in English but Daft Punk is also a French duo which I don't think I need to introduce.

La vaguelette reflects that noble soul of hers beautifully.
woah. kudos.

Do they really mean it?
I think u r wrong about death sentence, that death sentence is very planned by herself to destroy divine throne of hydro archon
@reinhartnata47 it could tho, if you think about it, the fact that everyone didn't trust Furina and did the persecution looks like the story here.

Watching Furina rediscover her passion and rekindle her joy broke me. I feel her pain deeply but I am also so happy to see her turn things around in the aftermath.
What really pains me is that throughout all of this, Furina KNEW all she could do was say sorry, and knew she could do absolutely nothing.

Her story quest was one of the best I’ve done and the cutscene was so beautiful.
I’m glad I always liked her character. So well written by Hoyo. They went above and beyond
This song was all a musical they acted, but i cried my eyes out bc it also resembles Furina’s story with her people :(
Every time genshine reveal the story of an archon, i sit there and think that there’s nothing more miserable than this archon, then BOOM, the next archon is even more heart breaking.
I love that they used French title rules for the title "La vaguelette", (in French when you are making a title, only the first word is capitalized whereas in English it's basically every word) the little details make it just so much better!
yeah I think they consult french writers and artists for fontaine, which is rare in today’s games
sorry for asking, but whats that title mean? (dont understans French, sorry)
Little wave@@JustRen_owo
Vague means Wave
lette is a suffix used to make something lesser (but as in little)
So here it's little wave
@@Yaya-lz4pxso basically vaguelatte means little oceanid?
that's also used in spanish
*May she find her peace and happiness, what a noble Archon she was* 😭
Furina will always be one of a kind, her story in the latest Archon Quest has broken my heart, And I'm just happy that she is finally free from this curse and now becomes human to find peace, well written character Hoyoverse!
Furina cutscene is her vision

In french, this song is really INSANE.
J'adore, beaucoup de choses se rapportent à l'Histoire de la France ❤
1:38 the chills I got from the build up and the vocals was insane when I played the quest
Last year Nahida gave us massive feels, like previous archons and now Furina. I love it that HYV do Archons justice. This was great.
She is so well-written.
everyone doubted her as archon literally same like when she first introduced to fontaine people
@@nakoni for sure, that entire bit was definitely meant to be a mirror of her haters before 4.2, except haters are even worse than fontainians because players are deliberately being told that her personality is a facade and she's clearly hiding something, but oh nooo she's useless let's hate her
@@ziggystarduskThe average Genshin player's opinion is usually very extreme and biased.
They usually misunderstand the lore and base their opinions on memes they see about the game thinking those memes are accurate.
She had a reason to act that way. She needed to make the people of fontaine believe she was the archon
I love how everyone thought her facade was that she was acting weak, the truth with her being a human playing the role of god is a way better writing choice than I could've imagined
The fact that Furina has the voice of French Juliette hits on another level, that gives me goosebumps
It's called whaling until you get her
We all thought she was just a bratty spoiled god at first let's be real.
That Teaser was so beautiful. The music, the visuals... just perfection. Furina is really a spectacular character.
She deserves better, she never got any apologies at ALL. She literally placed her mental health aside to act like a god in order to save fontaine for 500 YEARS. She reached her limit and didn't even noticed she was crying.
It was first noticed from the Lyney Quest and now HERE THE ANIMATION IS INCREDIBLY EVOLVED!!!! Can it get any better than this!??!?!!
You jinxed it, Hoyo gonna gassed it even more😂

Furina was so well written and has so much depth, knowing everything that she went through, I can’t help but wish her every happiness. I have to admit, she’s brought me to tears more than any other character, now I just hope she can be happy, in her own special way.
Despite being powerless, and absent of any divinity.. She still have the heart of a true archon. When arlecchino threatened her and she beg for her life.. its not herself she is worried about, she worried about Fountaine...she worried about the plan failing. she didn't report the attack to anyone, cause it will jeopardize the plan.
A masterclass in writing for Furina. One of the best “tragic heroes” that has been presented in the story so far. Absolutely fantastic.
furina was the character that actually fooled us, we came close to dislike her but we came to love her. she is an actor that sacrificed and delivered
idk I see a lot including myself that liked her sassy attitude at the start. If anything, she was more mixed received.
@@neurofiedyamato8763 Same. Her dramatic nature really appealed to me.
Not me. A liar is a liar, and no amount of necessity makes lying any more excusable. People love holding other archons to a high standard, but not Furina, which is funny how unfair it was, considering how Focalors was the god of Justice.
@@Grayewickyou have to be joking, are you saying she should have let her nation be dissolved into water because lying is wrong.
Truee I love focalors even when she just appeared for one scene😢
why not the writer themselves ... they deserve the praise way more
@@MinJyo-Ciel my apologies if what I said left you puzzled. what I meant by whoever hired is that the writer's talent was recognized by and entrusted to handle the story flow. from my understanding, it's like, you're an artist but it's less impactful when your talent is not found.
Do the story quest next.
that’s what her story quest is for 😭?

Because the archon quest was for Focalors, the true archon. Furina gets a lot of development is her quest.
How many times have you listened to this song?
me : yes
The fact that Furina canonically have this angelic voice made my day.
She is basically a precious angel in the human body. Well, she's an Archon after all, always will be in my eyes.
This song and choir made me chill. This song means so much with Furina in mind.

Basically judging books through it cover
Its pretty friggin obvious that The Little Oceanid represents Furina.
Neuvillette is the one who said the heronine in this show is Furina herself isn't he?
Well at least unlike Eula, Furina’s willing to still reach out to people in spite of what they think of her. Eula’s kind of a defeatist herself tho ngl and that’s not entirely good for her in the long run. I understand why she wouldn’t bother anymore but that’s still not an excuse.
Furina >>>>>>>>>>> Eula.
@@gnw_AstAI am EULA main but I still agree.👍
The part from 1:26 onwards always makes me sob, no matter how many times I listen 😭😭😭 Furina may not be a hydro archon but she sure is controlling the Hydro in my eyes, lol

Same
By the end the one big blue water drop encircled with 2 other smaller water drop was definitely a reference to Furina, Focalors and Neuvillette, kinda creative
I don't know if you guy feel the same way or not. But when she tilt her head in the opening here 0:26 feel really satisfying.
1:44 - When the acoustic guitar slipped in with the transition of the animation that showed so many emotions.
0:26-0:58 1:27-2:01 cécilia cara's vocals are STUNNING and i hope whoever in production that decided to bring her in gets huge kudos!! would love to hear her insert song as an officially released track someday. in the meantime i love how this cutscene works as both an almost-MV and bittersweet story of furina's journey :') 💙🤍

you can, but you cant replay sort of 😭 it’s in the archives if you did it (i think??)
Thanks Hoyoverse to let Furina sang in French, it was beautiful and as a French person it's even more exceptional ❤
