Happening at Nongkhai going to Laos too. Friend had to stay there for a couple of weeks and was told it wouldnt be accepted if he uses again this year. They told him to go to Malaysia for a month next time.
Yeah since I did this video I'm hearing more and more stories from different border crossings and different airports now..... So I guess it's not just Phuket ..... But again being a Phuket vlogger,,,, I can only speak to what I know......
Western, single, retired men are an ATM for these countries. The second these guys get off the plane they spend money. They get sim card, buy something to drink, eat, pay for transportation, pay for accommodations. It goes on and on. Many of these countries have not correlated that these men wealth is where the man happens to be because that is where he is spending his money. As long as these guys don't break the law or cause problems countries need to figure out how to attract these cash machines.
Thailand don’t need only western single retired men visitors, in case you don’t know, from official info, there are more female visitors than male visitors. And there are more Asian visitors than western visitors. And why did you talk like in other countries you don’t need to pay for accommodation, food and transport?🤦tell me any country that give them all free for you🤣If anything you can get many cheap accommodation in Thailand than other countries in the same standard because many of them are illegally rented air bnb condo so it’s no tax, majority of street food are cheap also because of no tax, nearly half of GDP of Thailand is shadow economy aka they avoid tax hence cheaper price. Even prostitution is also zero tax because it’s actually illegal. So basically foreigners from the west can live like a king in Thailand because of stronger currency and also because of many things in Thailand have no tax ( I mean they avoid tax and government officer are too lazy to do their jobs) so it’s cheaper price. Thailand will have bigger GDP like 1.5 times if only they bring all underground business into the system and tax them all.
Really!!!! This is the first time I'm hearing about trouble up in Chiang Mai thank you very much because I have not heard of anyone having any issues other than down here on Phuket......
I thought it was… Yes, and no. There is no limit written into law about how many times you can enter Thailand without a visa now. You cannot stay in Thailand as long as you want. Once your pattern no longer matches that of a tourist (visa exempt is a tourist entry) the immigration officers will start pulling you aside and questioning you for 1 or more hours and warning you that you cannot live in Thailand without a long term visa. Whether this happens the 3rd time you enter Thailand or the 7th time you enter Thailand, no one can tell you. It's up to each individual immigration officer. Most people have started to experience problems entering Thailand after spending 5-6 months in the country.
That's the thing mate you are 100% right and I did not want to get into the legalities and specifics of it because it will just cause an argument with people who are uneducated and unwilling to take the time to learn..... But it does come down to 99% of the time the individual immigration Customs agent..... And it seems to be that all of the problems right now are down on Phuket I've not heard anybody having problems coming into Bangkok or Chiang Mai they're only having trouble flying into Phuket.... Thanks for watching and commenting
Happened to me this year on my third visit and was questioned me for about 15 minutes. Even had to show proof of onward travel, this was bkk, and I was in the USA for over 30 days before I came back to Thailand.
I keep hearing about Thailand cracking down on this even when I came here for my third time this year and I was gone for 34 days out of Thailand they still grilled me at the airport. I thought I was going to get denied entry, used a TV... I mean how long do I have to be out of Thailand before I can come back without the hassle,I keep hearing that the180 day rule is kind of the unwritten rule LOL
I want to be clear that when I left Thailand I went back to the USA and stayed in the USA for over 30 days and then came back and on my third return to Thailand this year I was grilled at the airport and was thinking they were going to deny me...
The crazy thing is they just don't want people doing those stupid border runs like they were doing before where they just hop across the border and then come back the next day typically what I do I'm out for at least a month at a time and I'm not having any troubles at all..... But I also have my return flights all booked I have everything done in advance..... Cheers mate 🍻
I've arrived Phuket intl airport the 14th august, it was my third entry to Thailand this year and immigration officer called a supervisor, at first they didn’t want to let me in, but I have managed to talk my way, told them I had read on the internet that you could enter 6 times a year by air and after many sorry, after 10 minutes apologizing they finally gave me the 60 day stamp but told me not to try again to enter Thailand this way because next time they will not let me in.
Hey Dimitri and this is happening to so many people that it's crazy..... Again like I said this video is not clickbait and it's not fear mongering it's just telling people the reality of coming to Thailand right now especially if you're flying into Phuket..... It's pretty crazy....
@@DimitriTheSaint bro I am scared now I will there next month and this will be my third time this year in pukhet and 4 times in Thailand as I was in pattaya , did they ask you many questions ?
@@niccoloseghezzi5816 I would advise to go through Bangkok, get your story ready, having a return ticket to your home country will greatly help. Did you watch the entire video? Mark is giving a great tip at the end.
I'm on my third visit here this year and was grilled. The first two times this year I usually stay the full 60 days because I'm retired military, and this third time they grilled me for about 15 minutes... even though I was in the USA for over 30 days before returning to Thailand. Next year I'll do two visits and apply for the 30-day extensions but I'm not going to fly in and out of the country during those 90 days because that's what I plan on doing but not anymore. My plan was during the 90 days I'm in Thailand was to go visit other countries and use Thailand as kind of a home base but that plan just will not work...
Agree, when I worked O&G Industry I flew in/out business class on rota and you got a Fast Track pass to use a different area. Like Doc says it was just a quick stamp and no questions asked. After retirement I'd purchase the FT service. Worth the expense IMHO.
Thanks mate I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment on this video because it is important for people to understand that this service works and is extremely well worth the money!!!!! Cheers mate 🍻
British citizens DO NOT NEED a visa for stays in Vietnam of less than 45 days. Just make sure you have six months validity left on your passport when you travel. Not sure about other nationalities. As for Thailand, they change the policies like the wind changes and they normally don't actually tell anyone when they change. You just find out when you arrive and get denied!
Thanks for the tip Doc .Thanks god I never stayed more than 2 weeks in pukhet and I always bought the return ticket before facing the immigration .Here in China I heard terrible stories about people deported from the country as they overtayed for the business visa as they were working
Oh brother listen there's so many people that get deported from Thailand for overstaying their visa especially the Chinese Nationals and Russian Nationals..... It's crazy
This is why I got an ED-VISA (education) for a year, It cost a bit but I have peace of mind. You can also do the DTV visa but you have to get it while you are outside of the country at a thai embassy.
100% if that's what you're interested in is staying there long-term no question at all getting one of the Visas is the easiest and smartest way to go about it..... Cheers mate 🍻
That happened to me in Bangkok at don musange airport, I flew to Laos and back and got detained at the airport, forced to buy a plane ticket right away
Hey Larry just out of curiosity brother how long were you in Laos? If you don't mind could you tell us so that we'll know the best way to go about doing this so the same thing doesn't happen to everyone else.......
The reason for that is when you're flying into Bangkok you're using a specific company to do it but when you fly into Phuket there's just a kiosk there a small little office that says fast track and for some reason they charge you 100 baht so I'm going to guess that when you're booking the service online you're paying about $26 for the service and $4 for the actual fast track line.... Lol It's called capitalism baby it keeps the world turning!!!!!!
Doc nice video thanks a lot. I will fly to Phuket in 3 weeks. I habe been to Phuket 2 times this year already but only for 10 days each and then back to China for like 3-4 months so i should be fine. Thanks a lot for your tips anyway 👌
@dr mark in contrast my land border run was 10/10. There's also been many warnings not to fly when doing the border bounce by reputable people. All recommending land atm. Airports have been mentioned as bad.
Hey Philip and that's what I'm getting to in this video is that Phuket immigration at the airport right now is freaking brutal...... What I would suggest also if you're going to be doing the Border runs don't do the same border run each time.... Switch it up Or fly in the Bangkok like I do..... Cheers mate 🍻
@@whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean was grilled in Bangkok as I came here my third time this year and every time I left Thailand I went back to the USA for over 30 days before returning... they made me show proof of onward travel and I honestly thought they were not going to let me in
@@chriskelly509 same issue 2 months ago when flying into bangkok from germany. I was in thailand for around 6 months, did 2 border runs at myanmar border. Then to europe 4 months. Came back with single entry tourist visa. 1 hour interrogation at bangkok airport. They let me through. Said next time go out and wait for visa. now chatgpt gave me the idea of going to malaysia (georgetown) to the THAI embassy there to get a visa offline since it said it takes only 3-5 business days and could even be sped up to 1-2 business days with additional payment which is quite within budget. That wouldnt be bad I think to get 60 days (+ possibility of +30 days extension for extra cost)
@sebastianshine4262 I plan on returning in june... if a 5 month break from Thailand yields me an hour integration at the airport it will be my last time in Thailand, I come here and spend lots of money and I don't cause any problems and I never overstay my Visa
@@chriskelly509 I will try from now on to go out of country to an embassy and just not come in without a visa. From where I come, its allowed to come in without visa for 30 days and then extend. But as far as I have researched, they only allow that 2 times a year and after that there is a serious chance of not being allowed back in. In that interrogation they basically told me to get a visa next time. They didnt speak english well so it was unclear which visa, but I assume the issue is between coming in without ANY visa (for 30 days) multiple times and coming in with any kind of visa. Edit: Its just strange they did this even though at that moment I had a single entry visa. And these border runs they were asking me about were around 6-7 months ago at that point. From talking to a friend on the phone I heard he came in for 3 years straight till a few years ago with only single entry visas one after the other. However, he also has a gf at that time from thailand which facilitated it sometimes according to him. However, I highly assume it makes a difference whether you go out and come back with a single entry visa or without any visa even though you dont get any advantage in how long you can stay. (heard that since May/June of 2024 you get 60 days on arrival instead of 30. Good friend told me who did one such borderrun since then) So I guess if I dont do these ranong borderruns (same day) anymore, then it should be cool. Thats my hypothesis now. You can go to a THAI consulate outside of thailand and within 1 day get a visa (single or multi entry. Whichever you can or want to get). That makes a HUGE difference to me. I didnt know that before today Good luck to you! Btw if they interrogate you, just say "i dont know" and "tourism". And they might ask what your plan is after thailand. Just say "vietnam, maybe cambodia. Malaysia. I want to see asia, spend some money and have a good holiday" Keywords: -spend money -tourism -visit friends They might also ask where exactly you plan to go next. In that case just have at least one airport top of mind. (I said kuala lumpur). Thats about it. Other than that I dont remember the questions anymore but this is essentially the important stuff. Tried to small talk, ask where we are from, which city. Talked about the city. Kinda unnecessary questions so we calm down I guess before asking more relevant stuff about our trip again. (was with my gf. But he was mainly interested in me. I have a single entry visa, she has a multi entry. From the beginning they didnt care AT ALL about her. Only asked me. But they pulled as both out maybe so we stayed together. They had no questions for her at all though) Hope any of this helps. Good luck
Good one ! I do enjoy your videos. Question on the fast track, you said it’s possible to purchase a pass at a kiosk in the terminal?? I am moving to Hua Hin in December so doing as much research as possible, online the Fast Track option I found for BKK is $139, doable but I much prefer the 100 bhat from a kiosk. Can you elaborate a little ? I am a seasoned traveler with a US passport and Trusted Traveler clearance into the US, so I’m somewhat familiar with the process is. Thanks again for what you do and hope to cross paths with you in Hua Hin.
Hey mate first of all thank you very much for the compliment I truly appreciate that.... I honestly do not know about the airport Hua Hin as there is only one flight per week in there and I've never done it myself personally...... If you go to KLOOK they have a much cheaper option it is about $30-33 and that is in Bangkok...... Cheers mate 🍻 I have not found a cheap way around getting into Bangkok using the fast track but for me the $30 is well worth it..... Had to laugh abt the usd exchange rate you noted. Locals we talked to in BC at the resorts last week envied us, purchasing power wasnt as good as TH, but still pretty good. Thailand has introduced all these new Visas and introduced new Countries that get a Visa Waiver on arrival ,Yet they are stopping people using them . This has been all over the Thai Forums. Rather ridiculous . The Uk and many other countries Get a Visa free stay of 15 days in Vietnam ,no need to apply beforehand .
@@PaddyDoesasia-bj3bb it was in reference to him saying you need to prearrange a Visa to enter Vietnam if your denied entry into Thailand ,You Don't . I was here 15 years ago when Expats used to live here on Border runs and ran bars etc ,happened for many many years ..Ive never actually used a Visa exemption in Thailand myself ,I always got a Tourist Visa whilst in My home Country .. 12 Month Multiple Entry Tourist Visa was the way back then .. Wow ,how its changed . I am now an OAP and get the Retirement Visa .
@ChrisBird1 For the uk you don't, but lots of countries don't have visa exemptions for Vietnam . Most countries in Europe and north America need a visa. Lots of countries around the world are clamping down on entry requirements. But the best if luck with the retirement visa
Hey Chris yes my bad man I did not know that people from the UK were Visa exempt for Vietnam.... Most countries need a prearranged Visa definitely Canadians Americans,,,, etc etc.... Thanks for the heads up I coming to live so I checking with Thailand consultants here in the states for the different type of long term Visa updates to avoid countries hopping I would travel to three or four countries as Bkk is the hub for traveling in southeast Asia
Hey Michael but I would suggest doing is coming on a tourist visa first that's going to give you 60 days and you can extend it out for an additional 30.... See what you think about Thailand and definitely go and check out other countries because again as you mentioned it is so cheap to travel all around Southeast Asia... Come over and pick the spot that's ideal for you and then I would get completely serious about a long-term Visa... Cheers mate 🍻

Im currently going to be coming to Thailand from November for 90days which I'll get the extra 30days sorted when I'm there. Call it my divorce gift for me after my marriage break up from my husband. I'm coming from the UK. But I don't want to come back for at least another 2 months. So how do I get round getting a extra 2 months there after my 90 days?
You'll have to jump out of the country maybe go to Cambodia for a week check out the scene there and then come back..... Sound good? I hope you're having an amazing time celebrating your divorce.... Look out Thailand!!!!! Cheers 🥂
Two stays is 6 months thats a long time for a non working tourist, if you got the money well get a long term visa, dont tell me an agent cant sort something out. As a Thai perspective whats the point of having all these long term options ? Love your work bro, maybe just maybe you need to look at your viisa options?
Hey mate it's not a question about money.... For me the Visa situation comes down to tax implications here in Thailand as well as back in Canada and also it will disrupt my permanent residency that I have in another country..... So for me the tourist visa is the way to go especially the way that I do it I am not having any problems... This video is more directed towards the guys who are taking advantage of the Border run system and who are going to start having problems coming back through especially Phuket...... As far as again not working I don't work at all so.....lol I don't understand why they want us on long-term visas at the end of the day we're all spending money here we're helping the economy were supporting small businesses as well as buying visas getting Visa extensions etc etc.... So who knows why......
@@whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean i guess it damages the integrity of long term options and they have had trouble with people working in Phuket sounds like you have it sorted, do think as you said going to a neighbouring country for a month rather then a day would greatly help/ Appreciate the reply bro.
They are definitely having a problem not only on Phuket but in Bangkok Chiang Mai Pattaya,,,,, all over you're going to find people working illegally.... That being said this new digital Nomad Visa seems to be fairly decent I guess is the best way to put it..... @whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean that's what I don't understand they give me 60 days on arrival with a possibility of 30-day extension and then get mad at me when I stay for 90 days and then come back 2 months later and do another 90 days...after I go home for 5 months and return to Thailand am I going to be denied LOL even though I'm following their own law... I'm not even doing the border runs, I actually go away for over a month before I return back to Thailand... if not longer.
Nothing really changed. Get proof of return flight, accommodation and some funds in the bank. There are services where you pay 13 $ which gives you a verified ticket for 48 hours. Works well. Also have for accomodation
Yes this is completely true for people who are coming and worried about getting approval into the country you should always have a forwarding ticket you are 100% correct..... However this video is for the guys who have been manipulating and using the Border run system and that advice that you're giving simply is not going to work......
Maybe they are cracking down on visitors from a certain county but have cast the net wide so they are not accused of signaling anyone out? I've heard that Phuket has had an influx of people from a certain country, one that started a war recently, and that a lot of those visitors are less than savory. Maybe what I've heard isn't true, I'm going on 2nd hand accounts but not there so I don't really know. Good advice re avoiding this issue Mark. For what it's worth I like the backgrounds... ignore the trolls :)
Hey mate listen what you're saying is completely true sadly enough the Russians have a horrible reputation here on Phuket,,,,, the sad reality of that though is it's not all of them I have met some incredibly wonderful Russians who are here because they completely disagree with what their country has done they are completely totally different than their countrymen that are here giving Russia a bad name..... Yes it is ,,,, sorry I thought I said that in the video mate..... But keep in mind that service online is not available for Phuket once you get to Phuket before you get to the immigration lines on the right hand side there's a booth a kiosk whenever you want to call it and it says fast track right there......
Hey Steve the crazy thing is it's sadly enough up to the individual immigration Customs agent..... Even with a re-entry permit if you actually go online and you read the fine print...... It's always up to the discretion of the Customs agent as to whether or not you're getting entry into the country........
You can fly into Bangkok and take a 11 hour bus ride down to Phuket from Southern Bus Terminal at Taling Chan. I think the shopping center it’s called the SC shopping center Pinklao
The thing is with immigration at the Phuket Airport when you're arriving internationally..... If you get through Bkk,,,, with no issues just fly down to Phuket.... I wouldn't take the bus ... Cheers mate 🍻

The problem is they would not give him the option of flying any place else..... Exact same as my Canadian friend when it happened to her they did not give her the option to fly to Singapore Vietnam Cambodia anywhere they forced her to buy a return ticket to Canada on the spot..... I don't know if it's that people get so scared and flustered they don't know how to handle themselves in that situation but I'm just telling you what I've been told by my subscribers and friends that this is happening too..... As I said in the video I myself would try to fly to Cambodia and figure out from there a plan.... But a lot of people do not do well when confronted with adversity...... Cheers mate 🍻
@whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean 100%. it's the airlines responsibilty. Best question to ask your subscriber is what airline they flew in on cause that's probably why they had to go back to canada. Was probably an airline that only goes back to canada. You can only fly back out on the same airline. Noone can make you go anywhere but when you get this problem only the airline who flew you in can get you out again.
@whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean hmm did they sign the denial of entry form? If they did maybe that's why? When I got denied I refused to sign and said I wanna go to cambo they let me go.
There is no such rule. It is up to your immigration officer`s discretion whether you are allowed in, based on the history of your passport, and some border checkpoints have different practice than others.
A tourist visa is only 60 days extendable another 30 . So you would need to do a border run somewhere and get another visa. A lot of Consulates ( and Embassies) are now changing over to e- visas as well so you would need to check where you intend applying.
@@maxineb9598 I think he means you can only stay 6 months in total in a calender year as a tourist. But as I said, there are no such rule. The last say is up to the discretion of your immigration officer, based on the history of your passport. Some may be able to stay longer than that, some even much longer, on a combination of visa exemptions and tourist visas.

No actually that's not completely true you can stay here a lot longer than 6 months even on a tourist visa so long as you do it properly...... Every year I have been a lot more than 6 months I just understand how to do it so that I'm not getting into trouble with immigration......
Hi wgakh it's up to the individual customs/immigration agent as to if they will allow re-entry..... As there is no exact "amount" as no one can determine what they are referring to lol So it's confusing....

This is the first time I'm hearing about trouble up in Chiang Mai thank you very much because I have not heard of anyone having any issues other than down here on Phuket......
I thought it was…
Yes, and no.
@whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean same, everytime I left I was gone at least 30 days minimum.... still got grilled in bkk.
Brother you'll be ok....
They can see by your passport that you're not manipulating the system.....
That's awesome.i dodn my know that
Canadian and American citizens need a visa for Vietnam,,,, my bad mate

Multiple entry?
100% if that's what you're interested in is staying there long-term no question at all getting one of the Visas is the easiest and smartest way to go about it.....

That's a great question........
I keep hearing stories like this all over the place...
Mark, why is it $30 online, but $4 at the airport... for fast track??
The reason for that is when you're flying into Bangkok you're using a specific company to do it but when you fly into Phuket there's just a kiosk there a small little office that says fast track and for some reason they charge you 100 baht so I'm going to guess that when you're booking the service online you're paying about $26 for the service and $4 for the actual fast track line....
Lol
It's called capitalism baby it keeps the world turning!!!!!!
Doc nice video thanks a lot. I will fly to Phuket in 3 weeks. I habe been to Phuket 2 times this year already but only for 10 days each and then back to China for like 3-4 months so i should be fine. Thanks a lot for your tips anyway 👌
You'll have no trouble brother

@dr mark in contrast my land border run was 10/10. There's also been many warnings not to fly when doing the border bounce by reputable people. All recommending land atm. Airports have been mentioned as bad.
Hey Philip and that's what I'm getting to in this video is that Phuket immigration at the airport right now is freaking brutal......
What I would suggest also if you're going to be doing the Border runs don't do the same border run each time....
Switch it up
Or fly in the Bangkok like I do.....

Good friend told me who did one such borderrun since then)
So I guess if I dont do these ranong borderruns (same day) anymore, then it should be cool.
Thats my hypothesis now.
You can go to a THAI consulate outside of thailand and within 1 day get a visa (single or multi entry. Whichever you can or want to get). That makes a HUGE difference to me. I didnt know that before today
Good luck to you!
Btw if they interrogate you, just say "i dont know" and "tourism". And they might ask what your plan is after thailand. Just say "vietnam, maybe cambodia. Malaysia. I want to see asia, spend some money and have a good holiday"
Keywords:
-spend money
-tourism
-visit friends
They might also ask where exactly you plan to go next.
They had no questions for her at all though)
Hope any of this helps. Good luck

But Vietnam won't let you do border runs either. The uk for example won't

Hey Michael but I would suggest doing is coming on a tourist visa first that's going to give you 60 days and you can extend it out for an additional 30....
See what you think about Thailand and definitely go and check out other countries because again as you mentioned it is so cheap to travel all around Southeast Asia...

You can stay in Thailand 6 months on tourist visa per calendar year.
Some may be able to stay longer than that, some even much longer, on a combination of visa exemptions and tourist visas.
why not go home and get a ligit visa.
