I am SO glad Andy has finally read all the YT comments and decided to do a podcast himself. His commentaries on the Tennis Channel has always been the highlight for us tennis geeks and its good to finally hear him talk and speak his mind on the current tennis landscape, which is rapidly changing and would certainly welcome his commentary.

Best tennis interview ever. I AM 70, a tennis player and witnessed all the matches and events you discussed. Brad is one of the best coaches ever and you and Agassi were lucky to have him. Still have my copy of winning ugly.
One of the best revealing interviews I've ever heard! Have read Brad Gilbert's book, Winning Ugly, years ago, but Andy Roddick's interview with Brad is so fluid, so open-ended, so outstanding, that I feel I've learned the inside-scoop of one of the best coaches on the planet. Thank you, Roddick--well done, man! And, for my own personal wish--I wish Gilbert would coach Shapovalov--that talent and awesome one-handed backhand needs to win a Slam!
His book Winning Ugly changed my tennis game instantly as I suddenly starting making finals in my local comps and winning a couple of them.
Agree, soon as I finished that book I started beating players I’ve never beaten before.

I just looked it up and Roddick was #6 from the week of Feb. 17, 2003, but the week of Queens Club (June 9, 2003) he fell one spot to #7, before returning to #6 after winning Queens Club through the week of July 28, 2003.
Man, what I wouldn’t give to have Brad as a coach for just a few hours. He got with Coco and she won a slam. His results are beyond impressive.

I was an amateur player, and my couch had a great impact in my life. Positive, some negative but i'm glad i had the experiences I have had. Funny that my wife recognizes more influences of my couch in me that my dad. I have a good dad though.
And now that I have kids playing tennis, I hope to pass some good things I learned and also that I learn from hearing guys like you and other former players from the 90's.
It's only 16:45 in Europe, but this broadcast made my day, even if the start of this Monday was a bit rocky.

Andy and Brad, I needed to hear this conversation. I’m a 68 yo woman playing league tennis and started playing in 2021. My rating is 2.5 singles, because of my footwork and 3.0 in doubles. I have a great forehand cross court and working on my one-handed backhand. My serve is getting better at hitting all the spots in the service box. My TV is on the Tennis Channel all day long and I’m constantly picking up nuggets from you pros as commentators. Andy, I’m glad you’re doing this show and I look forward to picking up more interesting nuggets from you all. Thanks 😊🎾

Tremendous interview. Alicya Parks needs either you Andy or Brad. Since Brad's schedule is full hopefully Andy you can step up. Parks just lost in the qualifying for Miami which with her talent is inexcusable.

Andy kinda gets Brad now because he's 42 this year the same age Brad was when they first got together back in 2003 so it was oddly touching when both guys said at the end they wish they'd stayed together longer or got back together when Andy was still in his prime and you know they both absolutely meant it.

I think what makes Andy so good is the nuances he so often adds, due to his tour days...... he would deffinately raise Gills game....... Not sure how much Gills would raise Andys....

Yes I watch highlights or a replay once in awhile. Sentimental I guess, but I watch alot more of the modern game
@@HeliosDroneWorks for some reason I prefere to watch 90s more..... Currently going through Becker vs Edberg 1989 French open semis......... Was watching a few months ago a 70s women's doubles match......which strangely was amazing....... Completely different game, and different skill set which for some reason I prefere compared to today's game..... Conners side ways slice forhand.... Is still such an amazing shot for me....

This is a great podcast. Puts to light the player coach relationship really well. I always though if Andy kept Brad for a few more years he might won Wimbledon.

Yeah he's a magician. Almost every single tennis player he has worked with ended up winning a slam within that season, or the next (Agassi, Roddick, and Gauff)
I always wondered why after Andy won the US Open he decided to part ways with Brad. I believed he would have won a lot more majors if he had stayed with him. Great interview.

Brad usually looked so miserable on the court in his matches. It wasn't fun to watch, but I continue to admire his tennis mind. As a former player and coach, he is someone that I would expect younger players and coaches to study to understand the game.

Absolutely brilliant! Would love to hear from the best physios and racket technicians, also the tennis federations or set ups who are producing a lot of players. Spain, Argentina, Italy. Why doesn't the US have a grand slam winner since Andy? That's a great question to address and what the USTA or the American tennis community doing about it.
Saw roddick play in DC , it was 1,in the morning , 95 degrees and humid as fuck. He had so much stamina , shot after shot , insane

The purpose of modifying Coco's forehand is to get rid of limitations and not creating others.

Inductive reasoning is useful, but just because you drove by 3 pure red houses doesnt mean the 4th house is going to be red. Stats are useful but that doesnt mean you know what your opponent will do in the next match

I dont get it, why not change the backhand, so many have lousy backhands on the tour, and they are so easy to fix, more backswings and using of the wrists instead of the arms. Just copie the forhands, up with the wrists at the backswing and lower them before the shot and use the wrist more then the arms.

Andy, I only wish you had not listened to Gilbert when he was pushing for the faster serve speeds. Like Federer summarized in one sentence, 'you get used to it.' Instead if you had just worked on your backhand and a bit of direction changes, you would have seriously won about 6 GS titles at the very least.
And I would say, you had the best consistency and first serve percentages at 150+ mph.
I wish you would’ve told us what he changed already like to buy Coco
