  • In this video I use my Nikon Z 180-600mm lens + Nikon Z7 to photograph Willie Wagtails. A small Australian bird full of character. I even got to photograph its nest which is probably one of the cutest things in nature you'll see! I've been really enjoying this Nikon Z 180-600mm lens since buying it. No regrets.

FUN FACT: Willie Wagtails are extremely fierce in protecting their nests. I’ve personally seem them in pairs attacking other birds 5 times their size to stop them coming within the vicinity. It’s pretty funny to watch, but yeah, don’t mess with Willie 😂🤙

Great short video Adrian! Glad to see you've finally got some substantial rainfall. It's amazing how nature reacts to getting a much needed soaking. Fantastic video clips in this one, that lens seems absolutely brilliant! Cute little things those wagtails! Thanks for sharing, this looks like a lovely location for all kinds of wildlife photography! I would love to see a wallaby or kangaroo video! Hope you are doing well my friend, have a great week down there!

Thanks Paul. You’re so right re what the rain brings. About the only thing I left out was the mosquitoes that were there too 😂 Almost got carried away they were that thick. The Wallaby bounded off across the creek just as I was lifting the camera to get a shot. Just too fast for me the little bugger 😂 Have a great week ahead mate, cheers 🍻 🙏📸

Just picked this lens up for my Z9, and can confidently say this is a brilliant lens for wildlife. The sharpness is awesome and the build, while not an S lens, feels reliable.

Super cute. The nest is like a little egg cup and just her butt fits it in. Lol. Loved how he looked straight at you when trying to pull that bit of grass out of the old nest. Awesome lens, no wonder you like it!

Thanks for watching. So this Willie I discovered is a recycler. I went back 2 days later and it had got bits and pieces from that old nest next door to reinforce and the new one. Maybe to make it thicker and warmer. Have a great weekend 🙏

I think I enjoyed the gum trees more than the birds. Keep going with the "tiny things in nature". Cheers!

Thanks for another great video. Have been shooting with almost the same combo (Z7ii) and have been pleasantly surprised at the autofocus performance of the 180-600mm. Pleased I traded in the 200-500mm on this lens.

Thanks for watching Christian. First time I've seen a Willie Wagtail nest out in the wild. I will keep my eyes open for when the chicks hatch. Have a great weekend buddy, cheers 🙏

Man I hope you go back to photograph those chicks when they've have hatched. Imagine how small the Willie Wagtail babies would be?!

Not a bad idea. I'll keep my eyes open, but I might have to work out a way to get higher for a better angle at the nest. Thanks for watching, cheers 🙏
