Toyota did their own dealer markup on this one!
I just looked at the dealer pricing. They did not forget their dealer mark up on top of the increased MSRP
The land cruiser should be topping out at 60k, not starting.
What the hell are you eating and smoking fan boys ruin it for everyone dude 45k to 55k tops
Toyota would rather risk cannibalizing sales of the Sequoia thus have the Tundra-based SUV killed off and replaced by the 3-row extended wheelbase Land Cruiser 250/Lexus GX550 than do the same thing to the 4Runner.
@@roberthoyt7921 na Toyota found the American way of doing business lol see ford and GM followed in dead last Chrysler or what ever they want to be called
@@luisvilla799You disagreed over 5k and lashed out…jeeeshh
@@luisvilla799 U mean Stellantis
Pitch in an extra 6k and you could get two 2024 4Runners both with V6 engines.
And have 50 years of trouble free driving
That's a hell of a way to put it. 😂
So basically leather seats, a roof rack, bigger screen and better sound system makes it worth $22k more than the 1958? Questionable… The normal Land Cruiser edition isnt a horrible value at 68-70k with options, but $80k for this seems silly.
It comes with frame mounted rock rails, and the big off-road skid plate that covers the engine, transmission and transfer case.
70K is horrible value Skooter
They’re both not very good values. You’re paying for the name.
@@Jay-bw3flpoors need not apply 😂
The normal Land Cruiser trim should be no more then 65k for what you get I think all the Land Cruiser trims are over priced but the First Edition is extremely overpriced before even dealers mark it up. Also if you are hitting 70k or higher for any trim of Land Cruiser just leave the Toyota dealership and go to the closest Lexus dealer and buy a Lexus GX 550 Overtrail for 70k instead
whoever decided to give cloth seats for $55k Landcruiser trim needs to be fired...
"Iforcemax" badging on the rear looks ridiculous.
I can forgive you for v6 but 4 cylinder I can't nooooooo😅
Agreed fully
Conicelli Toyota in Conshohocken PA as one, asking $77,125. P-L-U-S "adjusted market value" of $15,000. for a GRAND TOTAL of *** $92,125.*** .....
FOR WHAT ????? 😞
It's okay to make a value judgment here. I CAN afford an $80K car based on the conventional metrics, but I won't pull the trigger. Car prices have risen since far faster than just about any other durable consumer good since the pandemic. Unfortunately, Toyota isn't doing anything to make it easier for people to afford a new vehicle. Cars are a depreciating "asset" that wear out. I'll wait for those "lucky" first owners to cycle through and allow me to purchase one at a bargain. In the meantime, I'll motor on in my 2007 Tahoe with 255K+ miles, fully paid off, cheap to insure and register, and wait to see if the turbo 4-bangers live up to the hype.
This is the way!
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t understand the hype behind this car at all. AND it’s $80k???! Toyota fan boys will buy anything.
I REALLY want one but I refuse to pay that price. Just can’t justify it.
Exactly
They should have launched the lc 300 at this price that's way better than this
The price is a real issue here
I’d MUCH rather have a Seqouia or GX550 for around the same price
Although I’m not a fan of the current Sequoia, a bright red TRD model pulled up next to me in my Rav4 Prime and it looked like a tank next to me. In an accident, I would be squished like a bug. 😂
@@paulira7407 I like the new Seqouia but respect your opinion
"Battery situation" 😂😂😂😂
Certified used GX looking better all the time.
Local two dealer have them $20 K over msrp Nuts
Lexus 550 is asking $5 k over msrp
Who in his right mind would go for the Land Cruiser ?
That’s crazy
Gx550 is much nicer with 6 cylinder. Just get lower trim gx550
The GX comparable is the GX overtrail which is much more than the LandCruiser
I sold one for 10k markup lmao
@@MattCampbelificationyou should be fired for doing that to someone
Circular headlights make it look like an FJ
Thanks Ben...I knew I could count on you to review the model I am most interested in. Awesome review👏👏👏
I’ve mentioned this elsewhere but I still find it amazing. For the price of the 4 cylinder LC 1st edition you could get a twin turbo 6 Ineos Grenadier.
Are the door and dash trim different (harder, softer, different texture) in the 1958 vs other models?
Comparing this to an outgoing ‘24 4Runner in a more premium trim and comparing spec for spec, it’s stunning how much higher the price is and how little you get. It’s almost like a JDM tax.
you can adjust the brightness. there should be a control on the left side for that.
Toyota Marketing Dept: "Since we are Toyota, Let us see if dumb people are willing to pay $80K for what we should price for $50K. We got another winner here"
There is a base model for $56K
No one is telling anyone to buy the top in model
Not true. The dealers will make sure you get into the mid $60s for a base 4 banger. Don’t get me wrong, I like the vehicle, but not for that price
@@eseir64 not Toyota fault dealerships mark them up. If everyone stops buying them at mark up problem solved
@@eseir64 they all come with the same 4 cyl./hybrid motor.
@@davidhouston7812 Mark up or no markup, these things are reahcing $80K for a 4 banger Toyota
Just looking at the 4wd selection, I think that the top button is the transfer case locker. I'm not sure that it is a front locker.
The car industry has removed impulse buying from most consumers options Fix it and wait for sanity to return is the new mantra
It's inline with the G wagon. Compare would be a super margin?
I'd love to hear your comparison between the Land Cruiser & Grenadier. Thanks!
I picked my LC First Edition and absolutely love it. She is a beauty.
I like the interior of the base model and the 80s style rectangle headlights of the mid model
80k in a for cylinder, you should be kidding me!!!
FR
Can you do the mid trim land cruiser with those rectangular headlights and please notify me when you are done with this thanks
*this is a new model fj cruiser with 4 doors and a fjreeking prius engine!*
I like the outside mirrors. Prefer those to anything else I've seen.
They advertised this as the affordable replacement for the 200 series but it caps out at nearly the same price. I understand inflation but there are so many better things to buy with 80k
That’s a $45k - 50k suv ..nothing more …now I see why Toyotas are sitting everywhere
I’m coming to your house Ben. Gonna be wild.
How about a side by side with your 200?
Need a comparison of 2024 4Runner limited and 2024 Land russet
$80k 4 banger 🤣 real land cruisers have V8s
@ 3:03 looks like a Nissan Xterra, just missing the rear bumper step.
I 100 percent agree, Xterra 2024 P
Exactly!
My local dealer got a heritage bule Land Cruiser first edition if MSRP was 65k then I would be interested but it has options so MSRP for it is 80k so it is a hard pass, I got my fully loaded wrangler Sahara with a 2 inch fox shock lift with 35in tires for 65k out the door though this was a few years ago even though it is hard for me to justify the high Land Cruiser prices
Looks like a better built Bronco Sport! Maybe 33,000 but not a dime more.
This is similar size to the bronco not the sport. This also is a framed vehicle which sport is not.
80k for a 4 cylinder. Exactly what are you paying for other than name.
People paid 150+ for a Fisker Karma…..
Lots of rich people with money that can be sold by clever marketing and the wanting to have it first
@@manoloprpr yes you said it well . . .an electric car for woke ppl \
How much should a 4cyl be? Is there a chart to reference?
@@thedarkestrainbow 😂 that's a good one! I'm interested as well
It looks like a Nissan Xterra bf'd an FJ Cruiser
Nope buying a 2.4 Toy motor for that price range is absolutely ridiculous. I’d buy a Sequoia TRD Pro instead.
It can stay for sale too😂 Toyota smoking some bad 💩
I hope customers turn away to show Toyota they are not the end all.
1958 model is only $55.9k. the choice is simple, definitely getting that one soon as I can.
I can get a 392 Rubicon for 87k right now with the Warn winch on it bro, Toyota can pound sand.
That front end makes it look like it really is from the early 1980s. A good and classic look. I don't think that's worth 80k but I will agree it's a nice vehicle.
No front locker, center and rear lockers.
I thought toyota said this new cruiser would be a lot cheaper than the outgoing v8 cruiser? Seems that was a lie
Toyota is using Nostalgia to sell its iconic SUVs. When you examine the market, its latest models are the most reliable option in each segment.
Would I get the first edition? No, but someone, a man in his 50s or 60s who has some money in the bank, will do it and drive it for the rest of his life.
In my area, Orange County, SOCAL
2024 Land Cruiser First edition: 90k
2024 GX 550 Luxury: 94k
I paid 125k out the door for the 2023 LX 600 F-sport (This looks bargain)
Price is getting out of hand.
Is this available in non hybrid version???
No
That back hitch cover looks ridiculous.
The first edition is so nice. It will sell as it’s a great new choice. Plus the dependability will last forever. .
Omg no wayyyyyy….. 80K, cheap and unsubstantial, and a 4 cylinder engine? WTF Toyota?!
6:04 Center Locking not Front Locking
Toyota has to get these prices under control. Toyota has to stop advertising their "starting at $55k" nonsense.
Ben, you should buy this LC for your wife. She will love you even more.
Correction, no front locker. Just center and rear lockers.
Compare it to the landrover please
Center and rear locker only not font and rear 😂
The new 4Runner is built at the same factory in Japan as the Land Cruiser is so the fit / build will be equally as good.
So in other words they could have just offered a little stripped down 300 series?
Hybrid turbo 4 banger um no thanks
Id get Gx at that point
Hi bro. In my state WA it cost only $58500.00
For a 2021 4Runner Limited?
I don’t see 80k. Looks like a base model in all black.
The 1958 would be my choice AFTER the hype dies down. Maybe 12 months from now when gently used ones are going for UNDER sticker.
Am I missing something here... The new GX550 starts at like $65k. Pretty much the same vehicle but better interior and a twin turbo V6.
Good luck actually finding a GX550 for 65K. The local dealer where I am has it for 90K. It's the top model but still. There will be a substantial markup just like this toyota.
Why get this over a lexus?
Toyota might as well have made it a cool 100K for it! Ford crossed that rubicon with the Raptor R with an MSRP of 110K. 🎉
i thought a dealer marked this up when i saw 78k for it then i looked at toyota website and behold thats msrp! aint no way! sad thing is toyota fanboys gonna say "itll last 200 years so its worth it 🤓"
Toyota took away the real fully loaded Landcruiser that they sold for 80k and brought cheaper "Land Cruiser" and are selling it for 80k. 4D chess.
Crazy money .
Are you joking lc300 the rally landcruiser 2024 will cost you the same price in uae 🤷♂️
Hey Buddy, i'm lovin it.
Its pretty awesome.
And that’s a “no.” Let’s wait and see how the new 4Runner compare with the same power plant. Could have been a great LC. Maybe the next gen.
Toyota cracks me up, they will try anything
The numbers are crazy, I can't say much. I bought a new LX and love it. However, my family is raised, and I'm not a young man. I just don't know how anything close to an average family can buy these and still keep a roof over the head and food on the table. With that said, Toyota did not create inflation, I guess I'm a little baffled at who the target market is for this. At any rate, the Bronco and all the others are high priced. Is it worth the money, I leave that up to the guy or gal that is writing the check.
The 40% mark up is to pay for Japan's older line employees. Don't forget they have one of the lowest global birth rates.
I like Toyota’s but between the pricing on this, the Tacoma and the 4Runner I would like to see Toyota price themselves out of the market. I doubt it will happen but it would be well deserved.
For that price I’d take a Defender. Say what you want about them reliability wise but they haven’t been that bad. And who knows how reliable these will even be. Such a small engine for a heavy vehicle.
80K for this seems crazy. And I bet dealers are marking it up too
FJ & Prado had a child
For $60K I rather buy the Nissan Armada Platinum. In the Middle East it’s called the Nissan Patrol. I’ve been in both new Patrol and Land Cruiser in Dubai and the Patrol wins
That's a 55k suv , period idk where they get those numbers 80k 😂
I said the same thing there is moron saying it’s worth 60k on the text/DMs
These hybrid-4-banger drive trains are great for mini vans and smaller cars/SUVs (like the RAV4). In a truck like this? Nope. Hard pass. Just like Ford is learning after trying to stuff their Eco-Boost drive train into everything they make, those smaller engines will not hold up to the kind of use expected of larger vehicles. And their power numbers do NOT hold up in the real world. Those Eco-Boost engines are having serious reliability issues because of it. Had they kept them in their smaller vehicles, where they belong, it would never have been an issue.
I like the look of the new Land Cruiser, but they've built in some problems that make it a no-go for me. First, the price. $80K is just stupid. It's worth about half that. There is literally NOTHING special enough about this vehicle to justify that price. Second, the rear seats are cramped and do not have enough leg room (at least for me, at 6'2). Third, it's got an automatic transmission. If this thing is ostensibly meant for enthusiasts, it should have a manual transmission and at least an inline-6, if not a V8. Fourth: Tons of cheap plastic everywhere, making this $80K vehicle feel...well, cheap. It's just not good enough. This is just another corporate cash grab and Toyota is hoping there are enough fools out there willing to pay that price.
what's the equivalent value SUV currently selling for $40k?
@@tprountzos - That would be a fair point if not for the fact that the entire car market has become grossly overpriced since covid-19. It doesn't change the fact that this car is only worth about $40K, it just means that the others you might compare it with are also overpriced and only worth about $40K.
@@meadmaker4525 "worth" generally is measured by what people will pay for something. I paid $40k out-the -door for my 2018 4Runner, so in my mind the new Land Cruiser is worth more than that. But, I agree that $80k is absurd.
$80K plus mark ups for this 4 banger? I want whatever Toyota is smoking.
I have a choice to make this fall. A new TRD 4Runner, an entry/mid trimmed Land Crusiser, or an unreliable sick-ass Defender.
I like it but would go for the 1958. If I’m spending 80k it’s on a raptor.
lol. Wow you are one heck of a salesman. Start of the video it’s available by the time you go for a drive it is sold per the yellow sign.
Aren't these units presold? I'm surprised you can drive them...
No
4 cylinder, no thanks.
Why can't the base Land Cruiser start at like 35k?
Toyota could sell a FUCK ton of these if they could
get their prices closer to that. I just don't understand
why they don't see the potential in this thing to try
to make more of them and get the prices lower.
Its beautiful, bit way too expensive and the 4 cylinder is a deal breaker. Whats next a three cylinder turbo?
TOYOTA CAN GO POUND SAND !
Yours is better looking!
They can keep it
