🎵"Sign your name across my heart, I want you to be my baby." Epic song from one of those voices that is instantly recognizable. TTD was 🔥 tiny braids and all. 👍🏽👏🏽💃🕺
Interesting fact… His name isn’t Terence anymore. His name is Sananda Maitreya. Sananda became disenchanted with the music industry. He felt he was knocked off a “limited plinth” after his 2nd album didn’t churn out the sales and critical acclaim of its predecessor. I did come across his poetry via a website not too long ago. He’s a very gifted writer. Not surprising if one listens to his song lyrics. And oh!... Sananda has not stopped creating music.
I love this song man!!! Back in the day they had legit talent and i love these reactions. It's really bridging a gap. Let these young black men know its okay to love and feel. Lol my son found you he's 15 and he can finally enjoy Saturdays cleaning with me. Representation matters and you matter. ❤❤✊🏿
This guy can sing he was very popular in Europe in the late 80 into the 90 he is such a sexy performer this is one of my favorite of him i saw a live show in Netherlands thanks for shining the spot light on him ❤
Loved Terrance voice so raspy, he now goes by the name Sanada Maitreya, the entire song list is well worth listening to. Very unique voice, thanks for the memories.
The penultimate performance of my favorite song by him is from the London 1995 concert: Holding On To You. I listen to it each evening with a dose of Diamond Kush..
This song, which was a global #1 hit as he was HUGE in the late 80s, is on his first album "Introducing The Hard Line According to Terrance Trent D'arby". And you really should peep the ENTIRE album. It is SO GOOD. He has a version of the Jackson 5's "Who's Loving You" that is BOMB! And the BEST song is an acapella joint (no instruments, just his lovely voice) "As Yet Untitled".
Terence Trent D’arby is a great talent and was slated to be as big as Prince. That turned out to be a fitting comparison because he refused to play ball with the record label, wanting more control over his work and image. He still performs today but under a different name .
He also was a legend in his own mind, his ego didn’t help his career when he declared himself the best thing ever after first hits. Could sing but turned off many with over the top opinion of himself
@@mic1240 , he isn’t alone in his declaration. Many artists have boldly stated the same thing. It’s pretty commonplace nowadays. Only, most nowadays don’t have the goods to back it up and he did.
@@mic1240 there was a lot that went into that “ego“ thing. His record company pitting him against other “superstars.“ Trying to make headlines. It’s the same thing a lot of people do every six seconds today. The “I am the best“ thing. He’s such a well-centered - but still spacy - cool guy now.

@@frootipebbles9196 lol man it’s crazy how you never seem to appreciate the present until you look back on it as the past. So much good music so many good times!
🤔From what I remember this is the first real example of someone being "cancelled" he became massive successful seemingly overnight in an interview he said something like he was so big he was bigger than God that didn't go over very well at all it ended his career similar to Sined O'Connor she tore up a picture of the pope on SNL and career was over.
Hi Satori I love your reaction channel. I think it's great that you & other people discover the artists from the 80's & other old school music. Another song you should check out by Terrence Trent D'arby. He goes by the name Sananda Maitreya & this song I wanna breathe has a video. Please look that up I think you'll like it. ☺
My dude was so underrated, I think he came out at the wrong time bc it was so much competition esp with MJ and Prince ruling the charts. This stays on rotation in my playlist, it actually gave me an idea for a movie screenplay 😁
He didn't last long. He was a one album wonder. But I recorded the album on my 90 minute Maxwell cassette. But it still gives good memories. I was 16 when this dropped.
He's still recording, but under a different name. If I can find the interview/his new name I'll post it. Often people think that if they don't hear someone in the U.S. but there are so many countries that a lot of artists are tops in. Tina Turner once said America is fickle about hits & don't appreciate artists that don't have a #1 & I tend to agree. She made more of her money in other countries touring well beyond her having new hits.
Hi Mr. Gregg Anderson check out Terrence Trent D'arby's song called I wanna breathe. He goes by the name Sananda Maitreya. The video documentary you should look at is called Sananda Maitreya faith & music. He tells why he left the United States to be an artist. The song I wanna breathe is one of many songs he has recorded under the name Sananda Maitreya & he's on a independent record label.

Listen to Terence Trent D’Arby “If You Let Me Stay”. You won’t regret it!
The best song he ever did is called UNDENIABLY. Possibly the greatest show of vocals that ain’t in church. 😂😂😂
This is one of his smoothes melody.
This guy can dance also and sing his butt off. I thought he was from the UK, but I think from America. He is sexy as he sings and loved his hair.
