In this episode, i talked about the MEXT Japan Embassy Recommended Scholarship that is currently ongoing. This video gives you tips and hints that my guest who is on this category used to secure the scholarship. We also filled the application form and answered some frequently asked questions from my previous MEXT scholarship video.

@@myleschris3357 I don't think she used any agent. She just did her applications according to guidelines provided and she got in.
Meanwhile she's a University recommended MEXT scholar.

Hi chilo, I have a question I would like to ask about the mext university recommended scholarship and when it will commence for the 2022 session.
I noticed on the school of science, university of Tokyo portal that it would commence on the 1st of Oct but documents are to be submitted before then
Hello Chioma! Does every department require a research proposal for Master's degree? For medical courses, I feel it is necessary but for courses like International relations or political Science, is it required?

Thank you for this informative video. There's something that wasn't addressed though. According to the application guidelines, it's stated that recipients will enter as non-regular students (research students with no degree) and if they'd want to move on to be regular students at a graduate school, an exam would have to be taken and an application for an extension of the scholarship would be required.
I know it's also possible to be enrolled right away as a regular student
I'd like Stefan to please clarify on the status of non-regular Vs regular students, especially on what the Graduate School Examination is like

I Live in saudi arabia im originally Palestine and my country is under occupation I couldn’t go back there ever again or even my family how do I submit my documents in that case when I can’t go back
Not sure how this can be tackled but the best advice will be to call the number written down for enquiries. They will most likely give a better response

I’ve been watching your videos since January. They’re really inspiring, thank you so much ma’am. I’m preparing to apply for MEXT scholarship(Embassy recommended) next year. I just graduated from UNN last year and I’m currently serving(NYSC). Please I just want to ask you a question. I have been doing a lot of research concerning this scholarship. I’ve gone through the application guidelines and there’s no information on minimum CGPA, though some sources claim such(2.3 on a 3.0 grading scale). I graduated with a 2.1 honor with a CGPA of 3.7, please from your experience and as a Nigerian graduate, are my eligible?

Hi Chilo. I hope you see this soonest. So I’ve decided to go for the research student path.
But the issue is my school, Universitof Benin Nigeria, doesn’t give us our transcript hard copy. They only sending it to organization or school directly.
Please was it the same case with you?

Do they check the classes you took in high school before writing the tests
i.e. if you only took math's in school so you didn't take physics or chemistry are you able to write the physics and chemistry tests ?

Hello Chilo, thanks for your time. Can I apply for a straight PhD with my Bachelor's degree?
And for the health certificate form, do I really need to do all those test? Or should I just find a doctor to write good comments on my health status since am obviously healthy
Not sure you can skip masters but kindly confirm from the application guidelines. Most things like this are clearly stated there, they will always say the highest degree they want. As Regards the health, I can't give any advise here because like I said I am in the University recommended category and my school didn't ask for that

Not sure about this...I advise you call the embassy or send an email to confirm
The Nigerian grading scale is 5.0 , I graduated with a 2.89 , I won't to know if I can apply

I want to ask that how am I going to edit the application, have tried to edit and type the necessary info since morning like you explain we shouldn't use pen but then inhale been trying is not working please recommend for me how I can do it. This is strange and the first time I am hearing this. Did you download the documents? And did you enable edit? If yes, then I am not sure why it is not working
Do they have any restriction on age of the applicant? For example, age under 35?

Please can you check the application guidelines and the checklist paper for this information. Most times, it is not right to conclude things like this based on my previous experience, it's best to check what is expected currently.

@@GracyIma you need to first Google your course in Japan and you will immediately find schools that offer it. Pick one, check further the requirements and deadline for mext and apply. Mine is TUFS.

Hello Chilo. I hope you get to see this. So I’m planning to apply to Mext for 2023. As 2022 has closed. But there’s a clause about getting disqualified when you change your status of residence from student to anything else. I’m a bit confused. Does it mean after studies, you can’t remain in Japan, you must return?🥺🥺🥺 But I want to stay 😭😭😭😭
I think it means while your scholarship is ongoing, you can't switch from student visa this is especially important to those who see the scholarship as only a means to come over but really don't want to study and they have plans to arrive here and drop out of school for other purposes.
@@Chilotalks chai. I’ve even thoroughly checked. I’m not qualified to apply I’m older than the required age for specialized vocational studies and I don’t want to do a masters so I’ll need to find another route. 😭

It depends on what the criteria is...of you fit into both category then I guess it's okay to make your choice. About which is easier, I don't know honestly and if I'm being honest i don't think any Scholarship is easy because it's competitive and other people are applying too.
About research plan, kindly stick to what they asked of you, I think they usually specify the number of pages they can take. Kindly confirm from the application guidelines.

Research proposal will definitely differ from specialty to specialty. So I am careful with sharing templates

That's no problem. You could wait until the results of the first screening are released then you proceed to request the provisional acceptance certificate from a prospective professor. All the best in your application!!!!
Filling out of all those forms is really confusing, can I use pen to fill it out?
Also in the placement reference form when selecting the institutions I noticed a column that says "academic advisor"... Please what does that mean?
It means names of prospective supervisors or professors you want to work with in Japan

Is it okay for a senior lecturer who lectured you to write a recommendation letter for you or does it have to be the dean of the school?
I don't know what it is now...but like I will always say...if it was stated in the application guidelines please stick by it.

Hello Rachel, I actually mentioned in a video that I really don't know so much about the undergraduate category because I really haven't met a friend on that category and so I won't want to mislead unintentionally.
However, i am still on the look for someone on that category to throw my light on it.
One advice though, is that you can work closely with the application guidelines for that category because it always comes loaded. All the best.
@@Chilotalks hello is it compulsory that letter of recommendation has to filled by someone from applicants school? Can't the applicants academic advisor fill the the recommendation letter?
What is the process like if you want to bring along your family
You will have to get the Scholarship first and then after your arrival your family can join you. The immigration here helps you with that

From my little understanding, I will think upper secondary school is your ss1-ss3. About withdrawal etc...I don't really know so much about undergraduate Scholarship but you can send an email to them anytime.

It doesn't have to be a published work. I remember using my graduation thesis work and it was not published too. I think they just want to know if you have academic writing skills.

Hi chilo, I want to ask if they will accept a photocopy of my high school certificate since any document submitted won't be returned and also do they need my waec result ?
I actually submitted my original Student copy but I made scanned copies for other applications. Student copies are replaceable and one can always demand from the school. What I think is one for life is the Certificate

Kindly confirm this from the checklist...I am aware that for graduate students it was specified who should do the recommendation so I am sure it was also specified in your category. Kindly stick to what they requested for

I treated this in my Part 1 video about Study in Japan through MEXT Scholarship. If you can get a letter showing you were been taught in English, I think that should serve because that was what I used.

Kindly confirm the receipt stipend online (from the application guidelines or Google search). About the postgraduate after PhD, yes you can source for other Scholarships for your postgraduate. For jobs and internships, they don't find for you, you find for yourself but they dont restrict you from doing one especially if your program so needs it

Nice suggestion you have here and I really appreciate it. However, I am not so active on Facebook and rarely make time to do so much on the platform and so I didn't want to direct people to a place I am barely active on. To be honest, it's not easy hassling all social media handles, RUclips, and full time research/laboratory work. I try to do the most I can do to prevent burning out and for the main time, I am actually more active on Instagram and that is why I could include my IG handle. Thanks for understanding
