In this video i explained how to access and get the MEXT Japanese scholarship to study in Japan. This is not some sort of professional advise but based on my own experience and that of those who I know here in Japan. Hopefully, this can help someone out there.

Sadly, most people jump into asking questions without looking at the application guidelines. That was the major thing I worked with.
Yeah! You're right. The Japanese exam doesn't count much. Surprisingly, I seemed to be the only one still writing about 30 minutes into the exam(that was supposed to last for 2 hours).
However, it does gives u an edge if you know what to write.
Again, even if you don't know what to write, be sure to fill all the blank spaces.

One of the big issues us the research proposal. You may save souls by making a video on research proposal. So we know wat is obtainable in Japanese universities
I couldn’t even comment because I was just jotting down things like the video is so informative I wish you could see my three and half pages of jotting everything word for word.. it just amazing watching I am really glad I got to watch you I will... Good Morning Dr. I read last year scholarship guidelines for under grad (Embassy Recommended). They requested that Applicants should submit original and photocopy of their transcripts and certificates. How is it possible to submit the original copy?

I’ve been watching your videos since January. They’re really inspiring, thank you so much ma’am. I’m preparing to apply for MEXT scholarship(Embassy recommended) next year. I just graduated from UNN last year and I’m currently serving(NYSC). Please I just want to ask you a question. I have been doing a lot of research concerning this scholarship. I’ve gone through the application guidelines and there’s no information on minimum CGPA, though some sources claim such(2.3 on a 3.0 grading scale). I graduated with a 2.1 honor with a CGPA of 3.7, please from your experience and as a Nigerian graduate, are my eligible?

About your question, I don't think so. One major advise would be to confirm from the application guidelines of whichever category in question. Anything, they didn't specify as a requirement is not necessary but if it is specified then please stick to the requirements.

can you email more than three professors about being your supervisor, and then put only the three down that gave you the best responses?
do professors mind if you contact more than one from the same university?
also, does the university you apply to help/hurt your chances of getting the mext scholarship? for example, if it is a more competitive university, does that lower your chances vs if you applied to a less competitive university?
if you don't end up getting mext, do you still have a responsibility to do research with a professor you contacted?

Please i have a few questions considering the embassy recommended MEXT scholarship.
(1) A recommendation letter with 2 photocopies are to be submitted. How do I go about that since my professor is supposed to seal and sign on it? Should I ask him to make 2 copies of the original and seal on different envelopes and hand it back to be? Or he has to put them in the same envelope?
(2) If I apply for the scholarship next month and I am accepted, can I resume lectures in September 2023 or it has to be this year?
(3) Is submitting a bachelor's thesis (master's degree applicant) compulsory?
(4) For the research plan, I am a little confused. I checked online for the format to use and some were only research proposals with title, background, methodology, references and so on. While another is kind of concise with a detailed semester plan. Can you recommend the format to follow?

Hello chilo, I looked for the the tests samples and I saw that everybody has to take the maths and science tests too, even literature students. And even maths A (literature students level) looked crazy hard with subjects I have never even studied at school !! How has it been for you?

@@Chilotalks thanks for answering! I want to apply in the “research student”category. So I looked for last years tests and saw that there was also maths and biology among the subjects . Since I am a letters student I wonder if I will have to pass maths test too and from what I saw the level is quite high. How were the written exams for you? Thanks in advance!
@@solange4121 please is this for university recommended category MEXT or Embassy recommended? Because most times, if it is University recommeded category that means it is specific to that university and department

I think you would have to submit them together. And also please confirm from the application guidelines

I actually know it's possible to get a job from another country and then come, but I haven't met someone on that category that will give me the details. I try not to speak so much on something that I don't know so much on, to prevent misleading people unintentionally. About working and studying, it's possible to an extent. To an extent because it depends on so many things (I addressed this in the video of frequently asked questions about Japan, you can check it out)

It will help alot I must say, the only thing I dnt really and and confused small is that "the application either the embassy recommendation or university recommendation" Does that mean you are through either of the 2 or both. So you choose one .Please make the clarification for me.

Like i said the embassy recommended category opens in the early part of the year while the university recommended category opens later in the year. So most times before the university recommended opens you should already know your stand as regards the embassy recommended. So if you didn't get that one, you can give the university recommended category a shot too

Hi Chilo, you know that in Nigeria tertiary institutions, we are not that exposed to practicals and insufficient laboratory equipment especially high tech/ modern equipment and facility. On getting to Japan, how can a student cope with such issues. Will the school or supervisor be patient to train the student on how to use the equipment and carry out some research?. Thanks your videos are informative.

As regards the research proposal, I already explained it in the video. To be able to write a good research proposal one should be able to read up recent publications of the professor you are interested in working with and that would give you an idea.

The Scholarship covers Monthly Stipends and tuition fee. I advise you google the full benefit of MEXT its online. About interviewing Undergraduate, I am still on the look out for someone when I see I will surely bring the person.

Ouch...I see... sorry about that. Maybe you were not shortlisted because they actually get back to shortlisted candidates. You can probably use this time before the next application to think about ways to improve your application and possible mistakes you may have done

hahahha...probably because that one is currently ongoing. You can check the scholarship tab for other scholarships even if it is the previous ones to get an insight to when it may open for this year and the things you will need to pursue it.

Please confirm that from the application guidelines. For each category there is a very comprehensive guidelines which includes qualifications.
If you intend to start the undergraduate all over again in Japan. Then you should be looking out for the undergraduate category and the guidelines there should guide you.

That's an insider knowledge and since I don't know how selection is done or I am not in the panel I won't know the chances. I will only say that if they asked HND holders to apply (confirm this from the application guidelines) then go ahead and apply and be hopeful

Nah.
It's really based on your personal desire not based on compulsory requirement. I personally wanted to do my Nysc before leaving Nigeria and that is why I did it.
It is not compulsory, however please also confirm from the application guidelines too..
