- Frogs are amazing, frogs are the best. Minecraft 1.19 will introduce frogs, froglights, and maybe even more frog features to the game. How would we farm the frog though?

okay so this is the video i originally made for wednesday before the surprise beta! if you hear me talking / wondering what frogs could do & then mentioning maybe potions: *its your imagination acting up again*
Maybe just a 3x3 area, one block deep, with water sources on one side where frogs lay eggs, and then the water flow carries the tadpoles to the other side, where top slabs at the same height as the water allow only tadpoles and not adult frogs to move onto a bigger pool
Add a drain hole in the floor place a iron bar the tadpoles go through but the frogs can't
I was suspiciously squinting the entire video until I read this comment 😂

Also, the white frog is white (like lots of light-colored creatures in hot temps) to help protect it from the warm sunlight. White reflects light while black absorbs, so that's why they're white! 😄
I actually think the addition of froglights give purpose to the magma cube spawners in treasure bastions, since you could transport frogs to them and have renewable froglight spawners there :D

Creating an automatic farm this way could be tricky though, with the caveat of the magma cubes needing to be mini. You'd have to take them out yourself until they're small and then run around collecting the lights (or have a hopper minecart underneath).
The part of me that fears the nether reeeeally hopes the magma is a placeholder for slimes. I think it'd make a lot more sense, since both frogs and slimes spawn naturally in the swamp.

I have a feeling sea grass is not going to be important to the design, I get the feeling that sea grass is just a place holder until fireflies are added, and you will breed them with bottles of fireflies.
UPDATE: They will not be eating fireflies, as they are poisonous to frogs. They are now bred with slime balls of all things lol.
*Bottles* of firefly's? How Interesting, I never considered them using the bottle to transport fire flys.
@@CaptainRyMM Well people catching fireflies in bottles is a real thing, and bottles are already in the game, so I see no reason why they wouldn't make bottles the means to catch them.
You certainly can't catch fireflies in a bucket lol.

You might wanna look up how water source blocks and flowing water work. That aquarium only had source blocks at the very top, so it was all flowing down, pushing the tadpoles and frogs to the bottom.

Maybe frogs should have a frog leg drop, which could be brewed to make a potion that makes you swim faster

And you could eat it and that would also give you the same effect but for like 20 seconds only

Maybe, but we already have depth strider and dolphins grace and so many other ways of swimming fast. Another one would make super fast highways a bit too fast.

the reason the frogs couldnt swim up was because it was flowing water instead of water source blocks

I hope I am not the only one lowkey hoping they will add frog legs as both a alchemy igredient aswell as a source of food. And/or newt eyes would also be interesting.
Honestly though I just really hype to be able to build a witchy house in a mangrove swamp with the whole nine yards. So am all in on creepy witch ideas at the moment.
On that note I hope the witch hut might get some updates aswell or that we might get a new type of witch hut or something.

I think you can automate this farm by placing a fence above the farm with to frogs on a lead and the the water on the top can spawn the eggs but then the water can pull the tadpoles to a growing and kill chamber with auto collection systems

Perhaps the potion effect could be similar to turtle master effect. A negative and positive effect. Maybe using an item that is crafted with the frog drop like the title helmet

I would do a door entry from the side, for easy access to the seagrass. Or just make a micro seagrass farm next to it. Also, wondering what tadpoles can maneuver thru that froggo can't, maybe walls vs fences, or waterlogged slabs, some way to get the "farmed" frogs away from the breeding ones. Redstone might be tricky, but a potential way to open a path. I think I noticed that until you bonemealed the 3 tall version the frog were stuck at the bottom because the water was flowing down, same with the tadpoles in the swamp getting pushed sideways. so maybe make a redstone thingie that changes how the water flows in the chamber, set to a clock that you start after you breed the frogs.

A use for frogs if they eat a magma cube, it drops a froglight and they vary in which frog ate the magma. The froglights look really cool
U can locate biom and port to the biome with comand /locatebiome and add something like swamp
I saw on French comment a SUPER idea about what frog could do. When we have a tadpole in a bucket, it will wiggle when we are in a slime chunk.
“Finally a swamp!” *doesn’t even realize there’s modified jungle edge right next to it, rarest biome by land mass in the game*

the frog can drop something to make a potion related to powder snow cold damage maybe
Darker colors retain heat better while lighter colors reflect heat better. Hence the chosen colors for the cold and hot frogs

Wouldn’t it be cool if a frog on the cold biome that happens to be in a water block when it freezes, then it would stay frozen inside that ice block, and you could just break it up or find a way to melt the block to release the frog? It would also make it easy to move them around
If you set up your base in swamp in 1.19 then you can have cool swamp villagers too.

It would be cool if a frog potion could give you poisonous skin like a frog. I don't think poison hurts undead mobs but it would be fun if when a mob like an enderman hits you, they get poisoned (like the static ability causing paralysis in Pokémon). It would finally give the player a way to poison endermen since they dodge tipped arrows and splash potions (maybe there's already a way to poison endermen but idk)

I already found a good way to use this design for infinite froglights
Light skin reflects heat and darker absorbs it so the colours help regulate frogs temperature

you also get the best light source block in the game
Always turn water in aquariums to source water block or fishes (and apparently frogs) will be pushed down

Try a longer rectangle aquarium, and use leads from the lead salesman to hold the frogs you plan on breeding to 1 side. Then can use whatever tricks you want to let the free frogs move to the export container.

I think they should make frogs drop a item called frog legs, were if you cook them they give you cooked frog legs and fill 3 hunger bars, and you can use the raw as a potion ingredient to make leaping or nausea

Given that frogs eat slimes and magma cubes, maybe they also eat slime balls and magma cream? Definitely a stretch, but gotta put it out there.
What if a frog dropped frog legs? Then you could brew them into ingredients depending on their color. Green would give you an ability that let you walk on powdered snow, white would let you jump higher, and Orange would let you swim faster.

The color of the frogs is genetic for body temperature, the lighter color for the tropical frog reflects more sunlight so they stay cooler, while the darker color for the cold frog absorbs more sunlight so they stay warmer
There needs to be a way to tell which frog in the breeding process is fertile, so if necessary you can follow it to water. Same with turtles.
