According to popular belief, its author is the Polish-Ukrainian poet, one of the representatives of the Polish Ukrainian school, Thomas Padura (1801-1871)[5]. Some researchers believe that the song was written by the Polish classical composer Maciej Kamieński (1734-1825)[6][7]. There is also an opinion that the melody was taken from the famous Ukrainian song of the Cossack Semyon Klimovsky “The Cossack rode for the Danube”[2]. In some sources it is presented as a Polish[8] or Ukrainian[9] folk song. (a person who does not know history is susceptible to any stupid influence.)
And "Szara Piechota" is a romanian song. And "Rozszumiały się wierzby płaczące" is a russian song. I don't see a point in gatekeeping songs. Like yes, "Hej, Sokoły" is polish, but we don't have to be rude about it.
Although the area (at the time known as "Ruthenia") was indeed part of Lithuania and Poland for various centuries, it still maintained a cultural and linguistical indipendence from both, including indipendent tendencies. This is expecially shown by the indipendent cossack communities and the Khmelnytsky Uprising.
