About the United States Marine Corps:
The Marine Corps defends the people of the United States at home and abroad. Within every Marine is the willingness to engage and determination to defeat any adversary, and it is this fighting spirit that allows us to fight and win our Nation’s battles.
The mission of the United States Marine Corps is made up of three promises: We make Marines, we win our Nation’s battles, and we develop quality citizens prepared to fight and win battles.
You don’t join the Marines-you become one, forged in the crucible of training aboard our recruit depots on Parris Island, South Carolina, and in San Diego, California, or through the dedication required of officer candidates at Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Virginia. Beyond the physical requirements, aspiring Marines must prove they have the honor, courage, and commitment to face and defeat any obstacle.
Today, more than 180,000 enlisted Marines and 23,000 Marine Officers serve in active duty or reserve forces on bases and in communities around the world, proudly carrying with them the core values of the Marine Corps.

Living on a military base is like good ole' America in the 1950s. That is a beautiful commentary.
"We have a PX that serves as a mall" lmfao thats a god damn lie
He might be referring to the MCX type of mall. When I was in MCT (east coast) they had a huge MCX that was just like any other mall. But other than that the PX is generally small.
The one on mainside at Camp Pendleton was kind of like a mall, I guess.
@@deuslaudetur2451 On satelite posts, most of them are the size of a 2 car garage. Going to a civilian mall will feel like Disneyworld in florida.
You can enjoy all these activities only if your POG. I spent most of my time either in the desert or some other sort of training. lol they making it sound like its the greatest place to live.
Lol, I remember being told about all these "fun activites" in the Marine Corps. But I'm a grunt, so guess how many of these fun things I've got time for?
TheDevildog1991 none because when your a boot you get destroyed by gunny. Oorah SemperFi 🤘🇺🇸
I feel for you bro. Some POGs, when it comes to time, don't get to experience some of the fun that bases or other military organizations have to offer, because they work 15-18 hour days and work on the weekend sometimes. They barely have time to just go back and make sure their family is okay.
Not one. I was a radioman TAD’d to two different grunt units, and I can tell you they don’t have time for any extra curricula activity, because they’re always out in the field. That’s why when they do get down time it’s usually spent getting hammered, and getting into trouble. But it was fun…
Let me tell you the truth about life on base. Truly it's not so bad most marine bases have a bowling alley, gym, movie theater, pool, px, and commissary. And more recently have been making paintball courses which is cool. However your going to get tired of the same old stuff all the time. When you get weekend Liberty you can bet after one year your going to want to get as far away from the base as possible. Oh yeah and if you get 29 palms be prepared to go to San Diego or Las Vegas every weekend spending most of your paycheck on gas to get there.
42088cowboy I have a question if an accumulated amount of days for leave do you get to use them when ever for example next year i would like to get 1 week off for spring break in florida would they let me?
the only way you are going to be able to go is if it was like a no shit holiday or if you are going on pre - post deployment leave if you want to just go then no if you do you would be counted as (UA) Unauthorized Absents. You would have to get your leave approved by your chain of command.
42088cowboy But what if say you didnt use you leave in the holidays they still wont let you?
not unless you have some kind of special liberty. IE funeral you need to go to or a wedding that you might need to be in ect.
+AirplaneFreak That's the Recruit Depots
If this video is geared towards potential recruits, why don't they ask junior enlisted warriors about living in the barracks?
Because then the video would only be two seconds long.
"It sucks."
IKR!!!!
Oh come on! Interview the LCpls. This is a BS recruiting video lol.
I've been thinking about enlisting after high school and honestly watching all these USMC videos its making me want to do it more!!
Also, fun fact: grunts *are* special. The entire Marine Corps revolves around us, everyone else is just supporting us
TheDevildog1991 that's how it is in the Army my guy
bvailcards44 You know the more I think about it the more I realize your right. Only special forces do their own work outside of infantry. 68W there to save lives, snipers there to get intel for the infantry, artillery there to assist with heavy firepower for the infantry and so on
Speedy Sphincter I’ve heard the army works around the armor whereas the marines work around the infantry
Without whom you'd be UNABLE to stand without
Ra devil 0311
Peace forever!
To protect and to serve.
GySgt Perez bought me a drink at a club!
I now have another reason to be a marine, the safe neiboorhood for my future family and the paint ball field.
Lol the black guy describing America in the 1950s or 60s as perfect.
BaschiSC lol I didn't even think of the irony
+NaeNAe dude, wth whats wrong with you?
+NaeNAe He's not defending my life, I am not remotely close to American. But that's besides the point, I wasn't mocking him, merely pointing out the irony of a black guy idealizing a time when your country was still very racially segregated.
+BaschiSC yeah I think NaeNae didn't realize that. I'm just shocked by the response, so violent and hateful!
+NaeNAe how old are you, 12? Stop listening to NWA fool
wow that seems really badass.
I love the marines !!!
I was in from 1969 till 1975 I didn't see anything like that. Small Px and that was it.
I cant pass the asvab i give on my dream to become a marine goodluck to you others who pass it
Joie Amper life isn’t any greener on this side
Asvab is basic knowledge how can you not pass
My son had hell getting past the asvab but on his 3rd try he scored a 47. Don't ever give up on your dream Son, and thats the very same thing I told my Son and he is now a Marine, heavy machine gunner and loves it. your not to old to get a tutor and study like hell young man. Get back at it and keep diggin'
Joie Amper there's a tutor I know that will get you in the military reply if your interested
ClutchUhhFool NO IT AINT!!!!
Awewome.
03's or Infantry. Everybody else are POG's that support the infantry.
@Charbakshi You right about that!
And Gunts can’t take advantage of any of that. I tried joining the rugby team. I made it one practice and joined my ship rugby team on the MEU. Played one game in Spain and that was it. Administration has plenty of time for movies in the movie theater and sports teams. I didn’t discover half of the stuff was on the base until I was leaving camp Lejeune and had to have everyone sign off on my paperwork. Join the infantry but do not expect these luxuries that they are offering. When I joined they didn’t promise me a rose garden and I didn’t get one.
I already wanted to be a Marine, I'm Enlisting when I'm 17: next year. So this is making me want to be one even more! Besides the physical training. :)
Bro, sweet and good luck mayb see you there
You are going to be in for a shocker. Good luck. Your life will suck until you make Sargent. And if you are a grunt good luck.
@@markmcintosh7095 why will his life suck? I want to go enlisted infantry
how was your first enlistment?
First enlistment sucks and if your a grunt you’ll hate yourself trust me but if you got the heart and want to make a difference and be something do it nothing in life that’s worth it is easy
You notice they don't actually ask a Joe what it's like on base.
could you guys do something about combat photography :3
planned to be until just now..i think i might go army now..
Capt Robert Brooks sounds like Obama.
Bowling alley and pool. That's where i'd be.
Awesome. But sucks since I will be enlisting in the 03xx field. Won't see the base much. =/
Put a lance or Pfc on this, I would love to hear what they got to say
It stands for Personnel Other than Grunt actually. And plenty of 03's make it through SERE school
Lmao protectors of grunts says motor t
I wanna see one of these but of an overseas base, I ain't seen one unless I'm blind.
Ok, I wouldn't have a bachelor degree in Criminal Justice and a Correctional Sgt. Training Officer if I was stilling grade school by the way who care now about life on base I'm out. I'm just happy that I can work from a injury from war. That my opinion if I think life on base sucks and it does.
The Marines and Navy do recruit, the recruiters are at my school all the time lol
I like that, taking care of the soldiers.
*Marines
Sailers
Airmen
Few Proud marine all your services in make another marine Proud
I do love the jinnasiams!!
What about the berecks
If everything you needed was on base, people wouldn’t be scrambling to get off base on the weekends lol
i lived in barracks HP 255!!!
that happen to you?
Any military base is pretty much a gated community. There are rules that are clearly defined; but not strict. Traffic laws are firmly enforced. You don't slow roll through a stop sign. 25 mph post speed means exactly that. On the far more relaxed side, everyone there is far more like minded; the new folks are corrected as innocent mistakes are made. Those testing boundaries are dealt with firmly. EVERYONE is looking out for their neighbors.
pog means, Person/Personel Other than Grunt
I liked the John Paul Jones Elementary School.
So what is the highest rank you can obtain?
I stayed a PFC for 36 month
.c c
lean record book. I had to request Generals mast to get their attention.
It's not perfect by any means. But Semper fi
WOW..........Didnt know people like you still existed...
Me and the Bros would surf every day. Sgt. Munoz, 2/8 Fox, 3-1 actual.
if your not legal
can you still enlist?
my brother wants to join
That is a sticky subject, talk to a recruiter. The recruiter is a sales man, He cannot help you beyond his power to enlist you, however if the US gov finds out you are illegal you may be deported. You can serve in the Marine Corps if you are not a US citizen and it will accelerate your process to become a US citizen.
i already did the training in high school..it was hard but u get through it.even so i feel that the army guys that came to my school had a bit more respect towards women.one marine even came to my school and made the mistake of calling my teacher a girl..i dont think he'll do it again though lol
We are crude and rough made for war the army is pretty soft these days they can speed walk there little 2 miles
i am canadian can i become a marine
One does not simply.. enlist into recon -_-
hey moto lets not get all upset...
Single Marines can also live on base
POG = People Other than Grunts.
Yeah they just dont tell you the Lovely area of Jacksonville NC and the weirdo locals
That's so true weird people who looked homeless would always tried to get on a ride with me on the cab when I was trying to get back to the schoolhouse. Jacksonville also has so many people who try to scam you.
USMC🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Well FML
He actually just need a green card, to join the marines as an enlisted
First I was marry in the Marine Corp and still marry to the same wonderful wife. Second I didn't give a damn either. Yes, I did get in trouble many times. But my unit knew how I was I be damned I Marine wife going to talk to me like they are in the Marine Corps or anyone. I wasn't going to put up with bullshit. When I got it trouble with my company 1st Sgt and C.O. They start of the conversion with "OH SHIT! It about to be a show down it up to how you want to end it." MP's were called everytime.
I don't believe so.
Uh huh. Note they only interview E-5s and above (not including the vast majority of Marines). I was stationed at Las Pulgas. Put that in Google translate from Spanish to English. Note also the word "Recruiting" in the channel name.
Some day the Marines will learn they don't need to *sell* to folks. If we had wanted to live in a hotel and eat fancy chow, we would have joined one of the other branches. I'm like a broken record with this but we joined the Marines because we wanted to be the best, not go bowling.
So why in the world cannot this type of discipline and respect be made mandatory behavior for everyone living in civilian society? Seems to me it should be!
He can probably become a Marine with Dual Citizenship.
يس
I don't think you could make it as a Marine anyways.
Wow, I bet you wouldn't dare say that shit to that 1st Sgt's wife...
life sucks on base if you're single
You're obviously not in the Marine Corps...
Hmm, I was told if the marine corps wanted you to have a wife/family. They would have issued you one. My how the Corps has changed in 40 years.
probably. you don't have to be a citizen to become part of the US military. that's how a lot of non-citizens try to become US citizens.
Stands for Piece of Garbage. Used by 0311 (infantry) grunts to make themselves feel special.
I wanna see an 0311 make it through SERE school.
Nice propaganda
Marines bases are the worst. Go army.
Most army bases are shit too. If base quality is what you're after, Air Force is the way to go. You're pretty much golden, so long as you stay as far away from Global Strike as remotely possible.
@@SuperSparrow45 take army over marines any day!!! Part of the Navy = less funding and old army equipments
@@futuresoldiercav Yeah, but the Army has almost 5x the number of soldiers compared to the Marines. The Army has over a million soldiers between active, reserve and guard. The Marines have only about 200,000 between active and reserve. So obviously, more funding will go to the Army. However, it's important to note that the Marines get their money from the Dept of the Navy's overall budget, which in 2019, was over $194 billion, compared to the Army, whose budget was $182 billion, this despite having double the manning compared to the Dept of the Navy, which includes the Marines.
But again, the Army's locations for assignment are slim pickings as most of them are pretty bad. If Quality of Life is a huge factor, then the Air Force is where you should look, because any honest military member will say objectively that the AF has the best QoL of all the branches.
@@SuperSparrow45 why are you keep on promoting the airforce? I am telling you the army is better than the marines in every way. I did my time already. Been there done that.
@@futuresoldiercav Why are you promoting the army? I'm saying that if the quality of bases is going to be one of the major factors in deciding your branch, then that points to AF. Ask any Army or Marine guy who's been on AF bases, and he'll tell you the exact same thing. AF bases are, for the most part, simply better. That's not me promoting shit, it's just objective reality. I'd say Navy is the next closest, but Marines and Army, outside of some exceptions, the destinations for those two branches are pretty bad.
Join the Marine Corp and be the first to fight......the Russians.....I'm kidding jeez
