Let's all give it up for Linda. The woman who literally sat down and had dinner with the four most powerful, and dysfunctional, beings in the whole universe and didn't piss herself. Well. Fucking. Done.
We salute you
She tried to get as far away as possible but she chose the wrong words to use as an excuse.
Still, A+ performance under pressure.
We're you sitting under her chair? You don't know what happened.
THAT POOR WOMAN
They're.......acting?
What makes you think she didn't piss herself? A menstrual pad can soak up quite a load of urine, though not as much as an adult diaper.
"i mean if all the *apples* are bad... maybe it's the tree that's the problem" i literally shouted 'OHHH' when i hear lucifer saying that.

Not many years ago Amenadiel would never have taken Lucifer's side against God of all beings, shows how much he has grown to care about and see his brother as an equal
In part due to his father's ignorance of him. I feel Amenadiels come to realize that God was never there for him. He has a grandiose cosmic purpose but after all of that, he has a father that's never truly been there. But Lucifer, the depiction of all that was wrong and evil, was there without question for him. Just think of the episode where the black kid gets shot and Amenadiel knows where the killer is. Without hesitation, without doubt, Lucifer is immediately there to take Amenadiel to the killer. A true connection

You know what I get from this dinner scene? Lucifer is the only angel with the stones to actually ask the questions everyone else wants the answers to. Which is why he was never cursed to rule hell, it was him paying his dues to be ready to take God's place when God retires. While hell gave him the experience of ruling such a vast domain, his trip to earth gave him the growth to have love, and the capacity to know right from wrong. Although, from the beginning it was clear right from wrong was never Lucifer's problem. He punished those that did wrong. His problem was in that vast area of gray that covers 90% of existence.
Great observation, I wonder what happens to Michael now that Lucifer is the next ruler of creation?. Michael is in the same condition Lucifer was in "No Wings" hopefully he can redeem himself as his twin brother did
To be fair he’s also an angel like an archangel those are the most powerful and he’s got the balls to actually say it like it is
@@cameronbrown3422 I imagine he will gain some level of insight like Lucifer did. Wouldn't it be funny if him and "Miss Lopez" got together. I am perplexed at who the big bad will be in the final season. God and Goddess are in her universe, Michael is on earth with no wings, Maze is going to rule hell while Lucifer is God. I am sure they will focus on Lucifer and Chloe and their relationship, but there has to be an antagonist or it's going to be a long boring season. I wonder if Lucifer's devil face will disappear since he is now "worthy". Did anyone see the blooper reel where the guy who has the wooden staff says something about Lucifer and you can hear tom Ellis off camera holler "fuck you Gandalf!"
@@kevinashley478 That would be really cool to see, yes
Lucifer was cast down because God said man would be elevated above the angels and he threw a fit
I love how when Lucifer asks his question you can see the longing in their faces to hear those words from their father. Brilliantly played.
I thought the question was if he was EVER going to forgive and release Lucy from hell without him having to break out "Were you going to leave me there FOREVER?!?!"
It’s well done
Indeed as much as they always hear him say he loves all his children. It never really felt like true love, emporing your children to make their choses, telling them he has a plan but can not even say what it is even favorting others over some. Is it really true love when you say, you love them all but never really mean it. That old saying thou shall not lie, yet for all their lives. God has lied to them more then any human being has ever done in their life time.
@@gsamalot it’s a simple question do you love us?

@@Kamui633 but he is God he never lies just like lucifer he never lies either and he said that he would’ve stayed quiet instead of answering the question bozo
I actually think he gave a very good answer, he basically said "I do, but sice you are asking, i have clearly failed."
I love how Michael played the perfect son and told God he didn't have to answer the question, but when Lucifer did ask both he and Amenadiel turned to him in anticipation of the answer. That's when God saw how much he screwed up. 😓
the faces as well.
Amenadiel resigned to the answer he expects
and Michael seemingly fearful of the answer
also the lightning strike at the end of the question. like the lightning is betraying how that question stung.
He admitted he had failed as a father. So Lucifer got his answer there. But “do you love us”? I suppose Lucifer is so desperate for his love and the truth of that love, that he didn’t pause to consider the meaning in his father’s response. But all Luci wants is a straight answer, not a complicated riddle.
@@garrettviewegh677 yeah keep watching the season it's not that he doesn't love them it's that he can't answer literally
@@garrettviewegh677 Lucifer's desperation is simply because God abandoned him. Rejected him, forced him to Hell. All because of Michael's manipulations. The rebellion, the garden of Eden, the so-called corruption of Adam and Eve - None of it was Lucifer's doing, but Michael's manipulation. Michael gave Lucifer the ideas, whispers in his ear, etc. Had it not been for Michael, Samael (back then) would not have attempted a rebellion.
It's easy to see that Michael wanted Lucifer banished from Heaven because he hated being in his "shadow". And all Michael had was his fear exhibition which he used against God, the angels, and Amenadiel. It was Michael's jealousy that made him hate his brother so much. As Goddess mentioned; had Michael not had the Flaming Sword during the first war in Heaven, Lucifer would've been successful in his rebellion.

You could tell, especially when the thunder crackled, that it broke God’s heart when Lucifer asked his question
Well, God is not really the perfect father if you think about it. He technically send his own son, Jesus, to die on the freaking cross. No wonder he didn’t recieve any thearpy after that.
@@Vakama95096 Technically not.
Jesus chose to die at the cross. Don't confuse the two.
God sent Jesus and he had an Army of Angels at his command. Jesus chose NOT to use Gods Wrath and instead, take this opportunity to clear the sins of the humans who in all reality were about to be judged.

@@politicallyincorrect4395at no place before revelations does it say that. Not when Jesus was tempted for 40 days, not on his way to Golgotha. Not even as he hung from the cross. It's a story book.
Jesus literally tells Peter that if he wished he could summon a legion of angels in the Garden of Gethsemane. When the Devil tempts Jesus, he states that if Jesus jumped from the temple, angels would catch him so he didn't hurt himself when he fell, which I think it's a quote from somewhere else, but I can't remember where.
"Dad...Do you love us" bloody hell...I almost started crying from the vulnerability in his face... 😭😭😭
😱😱😱😱😱😱 Thats any kid that asks there parent
😩😩😩😩😩🥺🥺🥺
Tom played a good performance of this and he made the line sound so desperate, hoping, and afraid.
The most heartbreaking part of that question is that Lucifer isn't trying to bait his father he truly thinks his father doesn't care
I can sympathize. I've always wanted to ask my biological father that. He's been a narcissist and a drunk way before my oldest sibling was born (I'm the youngest). And I don't feel any fatherly love from him. All the things he's done and said to me and my siblings. It's just something you'd NEVER say to your child if you love them
When Lucifer asked that question about God's love, I think thats the same question michael and amenadiel have been wondering for all this time
The one person who’s got the balls to ask the questions everybody wants to ask but doesn’t have the stones to do it
Lucifer has grown past a lot of his pain. But the one thing that will always eat ate him is what God truly feels. The idea that the only parent who he knew without a doubt loved him was gone. All that was left was the parent who....
"if all the apples are bad, maybe it's the tree that's the problem" is such a good line!
I love how when Lucifer asks his father if he loves them, both Amenadiel, who has been uncomfortable the whole dinner, and even Michael, who has disagreed Lucifer at every turn, both turn to hear their fathers answer.
That's the thing Mum was very open and loving. Dad, well, he was too hands off. He doesn't know how to be a parent beyond respecting free will and punishment.
I know how Lucifer feels...having a cold, distant father who doesn't know how to show love, happiness, or any other positive emotion. Our dad grew up with a dad who was physically, verbally, and emotionally abusive. Our mom had to show him *how* to love. My brother and I were/are able to express those feelings, and the negative ones, too, bc our mom showed us how to. Lucifer's right...it's just sad that someone walks through life not knowing how to express love, bc they've never experienced it for themselves.
Which is exactly why I know not to have kids.
Why would someone bring new life to this world if they are unable to express emotion....
@@godofevil9468 Well, in the time before the Sexual Revolution in the 1960's, birth control, even for married couples, was taboo, even though there have been condoms in some form or other since the 1500's, and various forms of contraception for women since time immemorial(the most famous one was used by women in Ancient Egypt, and, in theory, *is* scientifically sound...it was a mixture of crocodile dung and honey(the honey had the added benefit of being a highly effective, natural antiseptic that the woman's body would not see as an invader), made into what served as a very primitive form of spermicide..one could argue that the fact that it was to be made with *fresh* dung, the terrible smell would make the woman's potential sexual partner not want to go anywhere *near* her lady bits anyway.
On numerous occasions, my grandma stated that if she had had the chance to get a birth control persrciption from her doc, she never would've had kids in the first place.
@@proud2bpagan .... Wow... holy shit that's.. woah. Thank you for telling me.
the series has really delivered a false potrayal of God.
@@vilikesavesitawale9939 It doesn't have to be accurate to your own idea of God.
It just has to be one that works within the story of Lucifer.
And overall i didn't' think it was terrible.
I love this scene. There is a fine line between a loving father who acts to allow his child to grow yet does not spoil them .. and an apparent unloving father who stands too far back. Definitely if you keep stepping in to help a child as they grow they do not learn to be independent and they become spoiled always expecting you to be there and step in for them. So allowing your children to grow and be empowered makes sense. But when the father can't even answer a simple question to his own children without still being cryptic "If I have to tell you that then I have failed", then it's an indictment of the father who has failed, who has stood so far back that the children feel lost and alone without needed love and guidance. A father who is not worthy of being a father.
My dad was like Lucifer's Dad...the only reason my brother and I weren't/aren't as emotionally fubar'd as Lucifer's is bc our Mom was like a real life Linda...she taught us about emotions, and how not to run from them. That it was okay to feel whatever it was that we felt, and talk about it. She taught our Dad how to love. Our Dad never knew how to express love or any other emotion bc he grew up being taught that any emotion, negative or positive, was to be suppressed. He got it from having a father who, like Lucifer's Dad, was cold and distant..authoritarian and dictatorial. He was physically, emotionally, and verbally abusive. I never *once* heard our Grandfather tell my dad that he loved him. Our dad grew up financially well off, but emotionally destitute...our mom grew up in a house that was bereft of money, but overflowing with the love of an emotionally available single dad. I never met my maternal grandparents, but I am eternally grateful.
@@proud2bpagan wow, your mom sounds like an amazing woman! i wish i had a mom like that

Linda: "more wine?"
God: Thunder, feel the thunder, lightning and the thunder.
I love Chloe, but I honestly think that Linda is the strongest woman in the entire show.
she is ( with Ella ), even Chloe said it
She was in the room with God, the devil, and his brothers knowing their identities and she wasn’t passed out or drink a lot of wine or acting like a (and no disrespect or not in a hurtful/ terrible way) but a slave/entirely obedient to God like she didn’t side with him or act out of character around him in this part
It’s funny. Lucifer is meant to be the lord of lies but really his title of lightbringer is more accurate- bringing light, if you will, to the uncomfortable truths.
The light is scarier than the dark when you have something to hide he is the one who brought punishment to those who deserved it in the end he put their crimes out in the light so they could see their own wickedness and suffer what they thought they deserved he never told anyone to do the things they did but he did make sure they suffered for it
Michael looking at his father when lucifer asked that question says quite a lot ... thts heartbreaking
Not sure if anyone feels the same but the entire scene I was like poor Linda.. What it would be like to be in her shoes in that moment literally OMG!!
It seems to just be incredibly awkward for her because she's in the presence of multiple celestial beings one of which is literally God playing out a "normal" family squabbles
Daddy issues is a hell of a thing
I know exactly where he's coming from...had the cold/distant father issues with my dad my entire life. As a kid..hell,even as an adult...all you want from your parents is their love..their approval...to hear that they're proud of you.Your parents teach you who you are...your worth in the world. When a parent is cold or distant when you're a kid, you go through mental gymnastics to figure out how it must be all *your* fault, bc if you were actually worth something, they'd tell you that they're proud of you...that they love you. You don't take into account until much later, if ever, that it's not that they don't love or approve of you, it might just be that, like my dad, they were never shown *how* to themselves. We learn by example..if you grow up with loving, caring parents who tell you they're proud of you and love you, you'll tend to grow up with high self esteem. If, to use Lucifer's euphemism, it's the tree, no miracle on planet Earth is gonna make you believe you *can* be worth something. I can remember asking our dad the same question Lucifer asked his Dad....'do you love us?'. My heart breaks at that line, bc you can just hear the broken little boy that he was...that he still is, on the inside.
Oh the redundancy Or would you say this is an ironic either or it’s still a good comment
Nice one !!
True...
Literally first celestial cosmic entities
2:06 even Michael needs that answer. wow.
Amenadiel's character development is one of the best in the show.
Going from "God demands it and I do not question it" to "Sorry dad, but my brother is right"
I love this show's costume designers. This black three piece is one of the best suits he's worn on the show
That damned acting range from Tom Ellis... from anger to vulnerabilty in two different characters... Waow...
The answer was yes.
If you have to tell your children that you love them when they ask you....its sad. Because that means they never felt loved.
I understood it that way. But it's still sad that he couldn't answer a simple question with a simple answer.
But this is what Lucifer hates, the ambiguity, the cryptic messaging, the timing, he just want's answers for once, just to have a yes or no answer, especially when he hasn't seen God at all, and only spoke to him once, in S1 when he asked him to protect Chloe.
billions of years of cryptic messages, and then silence for billions more, and Lucifer's right, all 3 of them, are broken, and i wonder how many of the other angels are just as messed up.
Lucifer in season 4 reveals to Linda that, he's sort of known all along, that his dad wasn't manipulating him, that it's the grand deception he's been playing on himself for eons, that it's better to convince himself his dad's making him do things than admit to his own responsibilities and self hatred, and Lucifer is ALOT like his Dad, God created a grand deception of his own that being distant and cryptic was best for his children, when in actual fact it was screwing them up, and tearing them apart, but rather than admit to his own failings, God prefers to keep up the ruse and continues to be cryptic.
Lucifer understands God more than just about anyone, even Chloe can see that in S1 when she mentions that he has a God-complex, he doesn't mind manipulating situations, people and their feelings for his grand plans, Lucifer is very judgemental of certain people, See's himself as above people, Lucifer can also be cryptic, but like he said, he gets his avoidance and denial from God in the first place
Look at the scene where God meets Dan and when Lucifer is with Jedd in the penthouse, they have the exact same emotional reaction and try to intimidate the other person.
@@MasterIceyy what happens if god doesnt know any better in terms up speaking cryptic? It's like differences in intelligence. You could understand a guy telling you what 2 plus 2 is. ~Lucifer/Samael: season 5~
This line touched my heart
@lo l my name with that profile pic
@lo l it's a long ass story, you won't like your mind to be on a rollercoaster. It'll much be like Dante's divine comedy to you.
@lo l I'd summarize it for ya, I was always in search of the true divinity (except for the mighty dollar, which I firmly believe in), I searched and searched and I stumbled upon Hinduism. I found my piece there and now I am happy.
And this is what lead to a season of God smothering Lucifer with affection.
"If I have to tell you then I really have failed." That's deep.
It must hurt God so much to stick to the plan. He has to to stick to it for the betterment of the Universe. Until the end of the season whatever happens is God's plan. After that sayonarra order. Hello chaos!
also it must hurt god some of his choices but he is doing it for the common good he is also pain because his childrens creations they turn their back on him and they get away from his path we humans
Every choice has a ripple-effect. If he helps one person, how would that person help a nation? Its a perk of either making the Akashic Records or the one whose continuing it's story.
For example, Why The Flood? Because the Human Race had everything the Earth has to offer, but we abandoned the Spirit to no end that only a few, out of billions, held onto it. We would of glassed this planet all for a laugh. He had to give the order.
You can come back with "Well, if he knew it was going to happen, why didn't he stop it before it happened?", because he's a "Loving Father". He lets his children choose, and has high-hopes they would become better by choice, not by consequence.
The sayonarra order whats that?
It just makes his ideals that much harder. God does want all of creation to see the 'real' him but he also knows with those choices they can define their own paths, defying him. The reason why Linda and us viewers see a thunder storm is because that's how we define his anger, he is powerful against chaos but cannot overcome chaos. Humans have a harder to define history than any of the two in the Bible, form we were givin but the power/soul is something else. Something God fears, something familiar yet older than him?
@@XSilver_WaterX and that’s chaos

This reminds me of my own family. Two sisters, myself, and our mother. I am Lucifer, defiant, angry, and open about the abuse myself and my siblings have gone through. 0:16 Lucifer at least is openly honest and doesn't hold anything back because that's honestly the best thing anybody can do to live a great life. Not many regrets just be honest with what you want and don't try to BS people into making them happy.
Really why I love him so much is because his the only one with the balls to come out and say what all his siblings feel but don't have enough stones to do it themselves and the villainies him because their cowards.
2:24 I actually want to point out that that was a pretty good answer, unfortunately lucifer didn't understand. God basically said (I do love you, but since you are asking me the question, I have clearly failed."
I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking this way.
and if he would've said the exact words you claim he meant to say, the point would've been much clearer. But he didn't.
You're clearly not a woman, or in a relationship with one. Sometimes you need to word it out. YES is the answer. The question remains; Would they had believed him if he said it like that?
Lucifer clearly said he wants a simple answer before he even asked that question. The answer he was hoping for was "Yes" with full conviction and sincerity.
But why couldn't he just say yes? sometimes the best answer is the simplest one
Lucifer taking the wrong thing out of everything Linda say will not change. Growth 😂
God's answer to Linda's question about more wine was a thunderclap. He was not in the mood for questions.
The Manner in witch Lucifer says: “Dad….do you love us?” Litteraly made me feel so sad
"Dad, you don't have to do this..."
*Everyone pauses. A moment passes.*
"Thank you, son. I almost forgot I'm God."
Honestly? The aspect of Michael being inside Samael's shadow shows here as well. He's trying. It shows with the dad don't do this line but you can see the genuine emotion in his face. Surprise as Lucifer brings him up as well. He expects to be this gatekeeper but he's a younger brother deep inside. I know what happened and happens next but I love the silent looks michael gives.
"Be honest! Please!"
In a way, this is also Lucifer telling Amenadiel "Please don't raise your son like Dad did for us."
If I have to tell you...then I really have failed. Probably one of my favorite lines of this season
0:37 is actually one of my favorite parts of this whole dinner. Amenadiel being a son to God, but also a father himself, can really give the best opinion into his father's failures as a father.
Literally the god, the saitan and two of the strongest arc angels vs all mighty Linda

But have it include Supernatural's God as well!! Both of them. Lol
Eventuallu he will realise he has a choice, he can be his own person. And not let this happen not let the same mentality as this family dinner problem be continued. Tbh I understand what god is saying if a child has to ask a parent if the love them the parent probably failed as one
Still, one feels bad because neither of them feel like their father loved them, even when he did.
Dad... Do you love us? No not really.
OMG I just realized, GOD'S PARENTING IS SO MUCH LIKE MAZE'S MOM'S! Leaving the children they love so the children can stand on their own feet. Just as effective in this case too.
Well it must be hard being a parent of all having a parent of none, i guess if you really think about it, its lonely af.
Oh my god....
Dang the pain in Lucifer's eyes bro...
Lucifer the person who we see as the audience acting immature and reckless yet is asking questions that many feel like it's a sin to question them.
Fear of being disliked, fear of being unloved, feared that they become like Lucifer, but that's oppression whether intentional or not is still emotionally taxing for all parties involved.
It shows a different side to God in the depiction showing that he may seem omnipotent and
omniscience, but from one's perspective might be the cruellest and harshest beings in the universe.
That Lucifer may be right when he is saying "If all the apples are bad... Maybe it's the tree that is the problem."
Showing that this version is not the all good God the most people think so it's rather the all evil God from Samuel's perspective.
To prove his point even his sons do not know that if they love them and in God own words "Then I have failed you."
Knowing or questioning himself that even God himself might be evil.
Great writing
As the middle child of three and our father only sleeping soundly at night because he thinks I'm dead, you have NO IDEA how much this episode resonates with me. Lucifer and Klaus having serious issues with their fathers perfectly echo's the thing I will never have with my father and siblings- reconciliation. Fuck you, father.

The amount of thunder and lightning in the background is a glaring clue that Lucifer hit the nail on the head.
I feel bad for lucifer, and Lilith, I mean if all the apples are bad, then maybe it’s the tree that’s the problem 😌🥺😔🤧🌳
You could hear Lucifer hold back his own tears for that question. Yes Mum loved Lucifer and all his siblings, which she was very open about. But God, well, he never gives a straight answer. God believed his feelings should be known, but he has omnipotence numb him to the concept of expressing it.
Ohhh.. I really feels what Lucifer got on his heart..
.
And when Lucy ask God that question, the thunder rumble on the back show how much in shock God is..
I kinda agree with God here... If your kid ever question you that if you love them or not, then you've failed the task successfully....
He should have taken some wine and followed it up with "mm, I love this wine."
The fact that Michael actually turned to look at God when Lucifer asked if he loved them is so powerful to me for some reason. Those two hate each other so much, and yet they agreed on this same question.
Goddamit.
Man even michael seem to be interested to know the answer like linda the three want thier father love
I know that not all of his children seem to all get along even in the silver City or any other realm of dimension or universe but I guess one thing that they all do agree on secretly is the fact that it's very difficult to get their father's appreciation and support even if he does physically show it and do things for them to show that he loves them he still they all still want a very simple answer well especially Lucifer and want him to physically say it want him to physically say that I love you. I mean after billions of years I would assume that he would have answered that at least once but towards the series finale we all know what happened
- Dad, do you love us?
I love this scene! One of the best scenes in this soap opera!
I just wanted to have a nice dinner with my children......
So I can tell them about ALLSTATE! are you in good hands?
Lucifer: what the devil are you talking about???
Michael: I see what you did there, always trying to take the spotlight eh luci?!
Amenadiel: *Drinks the whole bottle*
Linda: Laughing 😃
1:35 one of the most Beautiful and Real scene ever captured in any type of Story telling or Cinematography...
"I mean, if all the apples are bad, maybe it's the tree that's the problem." Gods, the writing was good throughout the whole show. I'm glad that they didn't try to rush it or screw it up halfway through like some other shows tend to do. *cough* *cough* *Game of Thrones* *cough* *cough*
Anyone see that filming mistake at 3:25 to 3:28 lol? Lucifer threw the food napkin onto the chicken, but in the next scene, the napkin is suddenly next to the chicken (on the table).
The napkin, the plate, and the wine bottle are all in completely different places. Why does this make me so mad?!
The saddest part was when amenadiel said: sorry dad but I hope not. It shows what amenadiel actually thinks and that the god is terrible father
Anyone gonna mention how "God" looks exactly how he's depicted in the Torah?
Damn I never thought about this before, but the reason why Lucifer thought that he was incapable of love is because he thinks hes like his father, who he thinks is also incapable of love. Self actualizing
I love how the only mortal person at the table asks more wine haha
Ah, that's why he thought he couldn't love. Didn't give his father the benefit of the doubt. (Again)
Well...said
Well that could have been worse. Michael and Lucifer would have used their true forms to fight each other.
Man, Linda just sitting there wondering who would start another Great Flood outside...
2:00-2:10.....the way they looked at him....waiting for the answer....
More wine?
LMAO.
What really got me is when Lucifer asked Amenadiel if he would treat Charlie the same as their father treated them and Amenadiel says no. I hope not. And that cut deep so hard because Amenadiel loves his son so much and yet he doesn't know if his own father loves him.
The way God nodded his head 🤣 was like okay" I got you!
2:35 God literally admitted He was wrong and prideful Luci still can't catch the hint.
Heyy I made your 1 thousandth like!!!
