I remember they got booed off stage because they had to follow Metallica. They headlined over Metallica and the crowd couldn’t go this light after Metallica shredded the stage just before them. They were an incredibly a weak act to follow a monster like Metallica. Back in the day this type of music was not in the category of hardcore metal. I came back to the video to see how the music has aged and I have to say that it is still a little cheesy. We all have our taste in music. Respect for the artists and the fans, it’s just not for me.
I like the music video. Pretty neat idea having them break out of the chains like cartoon characters with super powers. Makes them look like literal guitar gods.
This video is so 80's, its almost like it was for a modern movie, portraying a 80's video for a scene in the movie....what I'm trying to say is this video is as 80's as 80's could possibly be...BIG TIME!!!
Being a teenager when MTV first came out was like a gift from God himself. You had to wait all week to catch 1 hour of Headbangers Ball on a Saturday night if you wanted to see any metal. Today, it's at your finger tips. I could watch these all day long. Now I'll bounce to Judas Priest - You've got another thing comin'!
All I can say is that those who grew up in the 70s and 80s listening to rock music are the luckiest people of Earth. Our generation is fortunate enough to have the technology that allows us to listen to a music video recorded over 30 years ago.
Great song.. Simplicity at its best. I miss 80's metal. I've probably seen Dokken 10-15 times back in the day. They would open for everyone.. Great band!!!

Sit there thinkin'
In your room
You feel the pressure
You're goin' crazy too
The walls around you
Closin' in
You need a change
Claustophobic
Feelin' scared
You need somebody
But no one seems to care
A one way ticket
A change of pace
You've had enough
Can't take no more
Breaking the chains around you
Nobody else can bind you
Take a good look around you
Now you're breaking the chains Got this letter
Came today
From my baby
Who left me yesterday
Said she loves me
She'll come back
She wants to try
I won't let her
She'll be upset
I know it's better
Than somethin' I'll regret
She's been dishonest
And insincere
I lost my mind
Twenty times a year
Breaking the chains around me
Nobody else can bind me
Take a good look around me
Now I'm breaking the chains
Woke up today
I'm alone
I look around
But baby you were gone
But I don't mind
And I don't worry
I will survive
I'm alone
Now that you're gone
Don't need nobody
To hold or tie me down
I broke the chains
So let me be
I've gotta be free

Born in 2001 but I'm addicted to the 80's & 90's 🤘🏻
@@arturocortes8493 the 40s, 50s, 60s and the 70s are awesome too
I always loved Dokken videos because they weren’t overly dramatic 🤣
A great hard rock song Dokken is one of the greatest band of 80s n early 90s n still rocking hard today George Lynch one of the greatest guitar player in hard rock music great guitar solos 😎🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🌹🌹❤️❤️🏋️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🎸🎸🌹
Oh my God. I love this song.
I remember popping this tape into my cassette player in my car and speeding down the road with my windows down. I miss the 80s 😪
I do the same in my car, except playing a CD.
Me too! But while smoking on a fatty
Still do...
In a 5.0 Mustang or IROC Z 👍👍👍
one of the best bands in the story 🔥
Dokken Rules! 🖤

I like the music video. Pretty neat idea having them break out of the chains like cartoon characters with super powers. Makes them look like literal guitar gods.
Such a classic 🎶 fits me so much Dokken rocks!!🤘🤘
Excellent musicians, all.
Damn even George Lynch's guitar strings are chains! cool!
Weirdly, none of them broke . . .
Michael Dust you’re the tard, it was a joke...
DragonboltBlastter Fuck yeah. The lynch man was so talented and ultra cool.
Where can i found those?
@@alfredorodriguez947 they don't actually work, they are just a prop
Luv This Song and Video the 80's was so Cool 😎🔥🔥🔥♥️
"I Want My MTV"
This video is so 80's, its almost like it was for a modern movie, portraying a 80's video for a scene in the movie....what I'm trying to say is this video is as 80's as 80's could possibly be...BIG TIME!!!
Bob Silver it’s as 80’s as the 80’s were when I was in high school in the 80’s.
Yea ratt dio u got good taste
All I can say is that those who grew up in the 70s and 80s listening to rock music are the luckiest people of Earth. Our generation is fortunate enough to have the technology that allows us to listen to a music video recorded over 30 years ago.

Great song.. Simplicity at its best.
I miss 80's metal. I've probably seen Dokken 10-15 times back in the day. They would open for everyone..
Great band!!!
1981 - and still one of the best rock anthems.
High school in Oklahoma City back in the day. Man, oh man, if I could just go back. Great music, muscle cars, parties, bonfires, football games, cheap gas and cheap beer. Best decade ever. 😎🤙🏾
What an epic song!!!!!
Dokken takes you back...Motley Crew, Ratt, Bon Jovi, Cinderella to name a few others
One of all time favorite jams!! Miss them 80's
Rock Jams cassette days!!
I saw Dokken open for Twisted Sister in 84, I've been a fan ever since.
Saw them later at TexasJamm think in 86
Same around that time. Front row flicked with Dee’s makeup and sweat slightly nauseating but living in the moment! Dokken went first but they were dual headliners:)
@@shawnslay4751 If you mean Houston, it was the 88 "Monsters of Rock tour" in Rice stadium, I was there, if you saw it do you remember the electricity going out in the middle of Dokken's set and the band walking off stage?
The double power jump at 0:55 LMFAO!! Good tune, funny ass video though. XD
I love dokken they rock
He says: "Got this letter, came today, from my baby who left me yesterday". Wow! When did she mail that letter? That deserves a recognition to the United States Postal Service. Kudos!

One of the most talented bands and one of the most underrated.
Memories when playing GTA vice city stories. This song is on their radio in every vehicle... Legend from the 80s
Not only rock and roll music but some serious life advice , about not being co dependent and being free . Absolute perfection , thank you for the music Dokken .

Dokken is one of my favorite bands and I saw them in Monsters of Rock tour back in 1988! I love it when kids like good music! 🤘
A guy born in 1993 came over...
We're all the same!
The solo in this song is an early Lynch masterpiece 🤟
Almost 2024 and dokken rocks 🤟🤟
