My mother who works in a hospital was forced to write an essay on "inclusivity in the workplace" or something like that in inclusive language to even be allowed to keep working. My friends all adopted what we called "social camouflage" because the moment you spoke about conservative values and weren't a woman you would instantly become a target for rumors, shaming, exclusion, bad service, complaint at your job, etc. I let it slip one day when somebody noticed I never play woman characters on board game night. From then on rumors about me being a misogynist swirled. People stopped inviting me to things because they thought they would get labelled one too or they thought it was true. Thankfully I don't live in that hellscape anymore, but it really is a necessity to have "Social Camouflage" now.

My mother who works in a hospital was forced to write an essay on "inclusivity in the workplace" or something like that in inclusive language to even be allowed to keep working. She ignored the "written in inclusive language" part at first because, well, she's a native spanish speaker and doesn't eat glass shards, enough said. Me and my friends lived in a HEAVILY liberal city (with literal communists also, which tended to just be dudes living in their van under a bridge putting out a box in cafes and shops saying "support the homeless, donation box, etc" and just take the stuff for themself, and "Poly" dudes who hadn't seen their GF in months lol). My friends all adopted what we called "social camouflage" because the moment you spoke about conservative values and weren't a woman you would instantly become a target for rumors, shaming, exclusion, bad service, complaint at your job, etc. I let it slip one day when somebody noticed I never play woman characters on board game night. From then on rumors about me being a misogynist swirled. People stopped inviting me to things because they thought they would get labelled one too or they thought it was true. I am a young Earth creationist. In college while getting my 3 separate BS in STEM (plus a BA in psychology) then my MD; it was my growing up in Cuba that helped me get by. There's an inquisition in science where an increasing number of dogmas cannot be questioned. Darwin, deep time, cosmogony (cosmology is the wrong spelling BTW), sexual dimorphism, anthropomorphic climate change etc.
