Part of this video is from 1964 and other part is from 1967 Ed Parker's tournament. Interesting to see how is technique evolved. In 1964, he was all wing chun. In 1967 you can see a strong influence in western boxing. His kicking technique also evolved. Strong influence in taekwondo and karate.
When Bruce lee gave his demonstration @ Ed Parker's 1964 internationals Bruce by that time had been studying, training, learning Wing Chun Gung Fu for Eleven Years having begun in 1953.
Bruce Lee was not a tournament fighter he was a street fighter. No rules, No restrictions only be standing at the end! Bruce Lee was really the real deal so far ahead of his time. I real shame he died so early...
Tsutomu. Oshima sitting and watching very interesting , Shotokan grand master who loved Bruce Lee. He is sitting on the first minutes of the movie crossed legs with hands on both legs looking straight at Bruce Lee .
Ed Parker just stood & watch how this Kung Fu maniac try to show off at Ed Parker karate tournament . Ed Parker can beat him but he mke way for him to become famous actually Ed Parker is the Man behind Bruce Lee popularity. But the world did not know that.
They say Bruce was arrogate.....til this day I've never heard of an up and coming martial artist, go to a big martial arts tournament event and show case their skills and tell the martial arts community what works and what doesn't (from his point of view)
Not only super quick, he also preempted what his opponent was going to do. He told the stunt guys in movies to make sure they did not stray from what had been arranged, as they might get hurt.
For the benefit if those who don't know. Bruce Lee also trained with Great Grand Master Ralph Castro, in San Francisco. A contemporary of Ed Parker. also a Kenpo System (Shaolin Kenpo). Where do think the Back Fist came from? And the side kick. Not from Wing Chun. But Wing Chun was his base. Too many people don't understand that his base was Wing Chun. It just didn't fit him as art that would translate into fighting a mobile fighter.
+Purple Clouds you must truly be slow. Most of you know not what you speak of. Talent and philosophy are above your menial comprehension. Before speaking, study, find all you can, become educated on the topic, and take your cynical
i think the first part of this footage must be in mirror-image... unlikely that Lee would use his left side for attack so often, even at that early time
I bet many felt their intellects challenge that day…coun't deal with the fact that such a young man and specially Chinese.. was explaining to them how a real fighter should be, and what really takes for a person to be ready for a real life situation, and the differences between real fighting and competition besides teaching them that we are all equal, no limitations etc… but of course! player hater don't digest his teachings . and many of those people felt jealous later on.. and now that he is dead cry ..spreading rumors and try to capitalize on him hahaha.. very Brave! congrats haters.
These are demonstrations. There is no right way to fight. Only real fighters know that. You don't know a thing about real fighting. Bruce knew very little about it. He was about philosophy and his own technique. Which as we see today there aren't any big names using jeet kun do. That says it all.
Where's the proof. He was in America longer he didn't fight on these roof tops. Bruce wouldn't fight in tournaments but he'd do demonstrations? Three difference is his demos were with his friends not with martial artists trying to behead him
Rodriguez is right. That was before he went studying in the US, at 18, this is actually why he had to leave HK, needed to calm down, and start to do something with his life, far away from the gangs. And some other special stuff like that. And why would it it wrong? Wouldnt be the first man doing that sort of dangerous thing haha, so far. Nothing unimaginable about that
He beat up the police chiefs son in Hong Kong, "real fight" time to leave before payback. Joe Lewis a real fighter credits him often and says he was faster than a bullet/untouchable.
I was a huge Bruce Lee fan as a kid, but the truth is that there is no evidence of Bruce ever fighting. only stories. we have never seen him spar for real, the videos online could be anyone since we never see his face. he was obviously fast and skilled, but his figure has been greatly exaggerated, mainly because all the martial artists of USA at that time were absolute shite, except for few rare cases, so when they saw Bruce he seemed like a god. Parker was a con man that got away with making a bullshit style and bullshit background because of the same reason, nobody there knew much about martial arts.
Wrong shot man!!! that one in the video is not Ed Parker.... Ed Parker was almost 10 centimeters higher than Bruce... obviously that one is another guy.
From Vic Moore himself, and Ed Parker Jr. who has the original footage and was told by his dad, Ed Parker Sr. to keep this embarrassment to Bruce a secret. Ed Sr has passed now and jr sees no reason to keep the secret. Also there are a few more fighters that were there that tell the same story as Vic and Ed jr. So from the person who actually participated in the event, eye witnesses and and the person who has the original clear footage.
To bad this video is to far gone for someone other than a remastering studio to bring it back to life. I have heard people say that Bruce Lee would get beat bad in an MMA fight. The problem with that Logic is that Bruce Lee was an incredibly improvised fighter and would of probably learned Jujitsu and wrestling to perfection and then improve them both it's the type of person he was.
@GuitarRoast ! more thing to add on actually mahmid allie was a great boxer don't take my commit wrong and probably one of the best but you can't denie the guys build wich i believe gave him an edge. Just like how bruce was small. Some small people are naturally fast.
I'm a little tall and I'm fast. the question of his speed is the muscles he trained, the way he trained, and not getting too much muscle mass that interferes with movement.
I wounder if bruce had lived long enough to pass down all his knowledge and compete if anyone would beat him. It's easy for people to see something beautiful in the martial arts and to see talent but when you have teachers who create a system an actual code of combat they get tested. It's a true test to see someone's art but bruce had a differnt approach and phylosophy no way as way no limitation as you limitation
@GuitarRoast Did you know that the founder of american kempo karate is credited with doing something like 20 strikes in 2 secounds. Honestly i don't know what to say to that. Wing chun masters are know for delevering straight line punches in high numbers within secounds. Its hard to compare when you factor some of these things in. I don't believe there is a best only skilled are less skilled and to that no one can say bruce is the best. But hey your intiteld to your opion. Just a thought.
@GuitarRoast Genetics can give people an edge hint hint ethopians are proven the fastest runners why generations of walking. Some people are naturally fast but id still presist that he is only human and i and maybe you could do just as good. Knowledge is power herein were you find the way with the will you can proceed into higher states of consciousness.
So i guess they told all the other people in the audiance that filmed it to keep it a secret too? and what about the photographers and the hundreds of people in the audiance that witnessed this?
I do kenpo, and mr Parker doesn't teach dance class in fact my kenpo gym shut down and is turning into a dance class come join fore a free trial free is the price of tai Kwon do
I grew up watching Bruce Lee movies, loved them, but Bruce Lee was just a movie star. Victor Moore defeated Bruce 4 out of 6 tries in a speed match. Stopping Bruce Lee's "Unstoppable Punch" embarrassing Bruce. Victor and the whole crowd laughed at Bruce. Bruce never fought in any world tournaments to be deemed "The Best In Martial Arts"
No he never fought anyone. He wasnt interested in trophies. Also, competitions have rules to protect you from getting hurt. He was a street fighter, no rules. Big or little he would beat you. One thing no one knows or forgets. His punches were quicker than your reactions. They were actually timed. He could hit you BEFORE you could react to the punch, you have no chance!
Everything you said is correct. I once saw a video of Bruce standing in front of an 8th Dan karate guy. Bruce could and did hit him (not hard) in the face repeatedly before the guy could even move his hands, much less block Bruce's strokes. Anyone who doesn't recognize that there are always exceptions to what we would regard as possible is an idiot. These negative comments are just a natural reaction of mediocre people refusing to recognize excellence in others, and of course, the latest generation always thinks it is superior to all previous generations. A similar argument surrounds Jim Brown. All of the modern "experts" say he couldn't make it in the NFL today. Never-the-less there was a special about Brown featuring a half dozen of more modern backs who are in the Pro Football Hall Fame and have broken many of his records. They point to Mr. Brown as the ultimate running back (6'-2", 232lbs. 40 yds. in 4.5 sec. in his full gear on grass, the strength of a 300 lb. man, tougher than boot leather, and just plain meaner than a junk-yard dog). Who you gonna believe? I'll go with Ray Lewis's opinion about Brown and un-doctored videos of Mr. Lee.
People forget this was in the 1960s. Bruce was way ahead of his time
My Uncle watched one of Bruce's demos and he said he was not a believer of his style, but then he was amazed of Bruce's punching and kicking speed.
Man... wish he was still with us today . Those flying kicks are like a watch spring going off so quick and powerful.
Bruce Lee's demonstration partner is Taky Kimura. The actual event, I believe, was hosted by Ed Parker.
@John Molloy Yes, he was way ahead of his time. If you have an interest in his life there a great new biography. "A life"
When Bruce lee gave his demonstration @ Ed Parker's 1964 internationals Bruce by that time had been studying, training, learning Wing Chun Gung Fu for Eleven Years having begun in 1953.
Gracias por el video! Se ve a un Gran Maestro en acción. Mostrando algo de lo que podía hacer sin ningún tipo de esfuerzo jaja
I wish this clip had audio...
Happy Bday Bruce Lee!
Can see his sword fencing came very handy with his movements when sparring.

2017 and still waiting for some one to re-master this tapes.
@Mohd Sidek 2021 still waiting
@@hamedmohammadi6389 almost 2k22
It would be so awesome to know what he was saying
Bruce Lee number 1 mundo
Some reason I find 4:18 to be the most amazing part. where he throws a kick and then quickly raises his head
Not only super quick, he also preempted what his opponent was going to do. He told the stunt guys in movies to make sure they did not stray from what had been arranged, as they might get hurt.
no one in this world could be better than him Bruce Lee he was the genius
Wow... I haven't seen this video in ages. I had the tape many many many years ago. lol
3:17 no one kicks that fast. Never seen anyone as fast as Lee' at least with his feet.
and its the seemingly ease - smoothness which he does these movement is amazing.
His fists were even faster
No one 'strike ' as fast as Mr Parker !
@MyPOWERAGE
Yes he respected mr. Parker very much, they were also good friends.
For the benefit if those who don't know. Bruce Lee also trained with Great Grand Master Ralph Castro, in San Francisco. A contemporary of Ed Parker. also a Kenpo System (Shaolin Kenpo). blackdragonbxr Bruce didn't master wing chun and he was a boxer before that
He abandoned wing chun because Wong jack man whooped his ass and made him rethink martial arts.
+Purple Clouds you must truly be slow. Most of you know not what you speak of. Talent and philosophy are above your menial comprehension. Before speaking, study, find all you can, become educated on the topic, and take your cynical
+Purple Clouds thoughts out of the equation.
it was an ed parker international tournament and no that was not ed
These events are like trade shows, where they would advertised the alpha, incomplete, faulty products as final, best-of-breed stuff.
Man...wish I could find audio to this!
i think the first part of this footage must be in mirror-image... unlikely that Lee would use his left side for attack so often, even at that early time
That is correct. This is Bruce Lee at a Parker Toutnament. Mr. Lee was 5'7. Mr Parker was over 6' tall.
Incredibly fast punches.
اصعب لقطة ضربة الإنش لم يستطع تنفيذها حتى الآن
3.13 so fast kick
Emmh that's why jackie Chan admire Bruce lee because his good attitude..that the real fighter.
Great show of his speed and accuracy. Pity theres no sound
Oshima SENSEI sitting in the back watching with interest 😁

Брюс легенда !!!
great bruce lee great
some body mention that bruce Lee was just a movie star, thats not true. bruce lee fought in Hong Kong in the roof tops with knifes and chains.
Hector Rodriguez lol...ok
Where's the proof. He was in America longer he didn't fight on these roof tops.
Bruce wouldn't fight in tournaments but he'd do demonstrations?
Three difference is his demos were with his friends not with martial artists trying to behead him

found a version with audio ^
Shame with Mr. Parker's access to entertainment, that this is the quality of Bruce Lee's video. Sigh :(
Que lástima que Bruce Lee no se enfrentó a ningún practicante de BJJ en su época...
4:18 oh my god
Wrong shot man!!! that one in the video is not Ed Parker.... Ed Parker was almost 10 centimeters higher than Bruce... obviously that one is another guy.
Who would win out of Edd Parker and Bruce Lee?
Ed Parker already beat Bruce before he created jeet kune do

Who's the student he's working out with. That's the guy that needs to be interviewed.
I like the video where's the sound I love Bruce Lee he was the real martial arts I studied from him by Jeff Speakman Kenpo Karate taught by Ed Parker
This is kimura . not ed Parker
It's at Ed Parker's tournament. I think that's the reason for the title.
Yes, Ed Parker has organized that karate tournament.

is it a student he is doing chi sao with?
Robert Makela yes he beat up on students that had no prior martial arts training. Let that sink in
