The weirdest thing about the golden girls episode
is that it wasn’t Blanch that screwed a guy to death.
The most disturbing part of that Different Strokes episode is the laugh track.

Was this filmed in front of a studio audience or "canned"? I remember at times the laughter was inappropriate but other times it sounded like they didn't know if they should be laughing.
@@mikeweber3685 it may have been filmed in front of a live studio audience, but the live studio audience may also have been prompted to laugh. I was in on a recording of a local sketch show and we didn't see any of the sketches, but they had to have clips of us clapping and laughing so we clapped and laughed. It sounds pretty fake to me, so either it's a track or they were given instructions when to laugh.

3 was funny in parts, 4 only had one good scene with Leslie Neilson’s President while the rest of the movie sucked rotten eggs, and 5 wasn’t even worth seeing.

@@georgecartright7104 That's mission accomplished regarding educating children on this topic without traumatizing them. The most upsetting thing about this isn't the old laugh track from the episode, but rather that Funny or Die put a voice over to the episode trying to make it funny. I'm usually entertained by Funny or Die, but this making light of that episode and trying to make it funny with a sick voice over is unacceptable.

This episode of the Golden Girls wasn’t really what I would consider a special episode. There were a few, the one where Sophia befriends an old guy at the beach who has Alzheimer’s for one, but this one was just funny.

This episode still creeps me out. I was 10 at the time, and my dad was a psychiatrist and made me watch it.
It was a way to educate children on the topic to protect themselves without traumatizing them. The fact that Funny or Die attempted to make the episode comedic with its voice-over is not appropriate.
@@robertdave i don’t think they were making fun of the message. I think they were making fun of the fact that this episode was so memorable to people of my generation growing up. . It’s like the educational films on the 40’s and 50’s. Most of the time the message is good, (apart from those that didn’t age well because of attitudes at the time, or information that turned out to be incorrect.) but we still make fun of them.
@@heidifedor I know what you mean about ridiculous old fear-based morality educational videos, but right out of the gate around 1:13 the voiceover states "maybe don't advertise what that mouth do". This kind of attempt to turn a very serious topic into comedy I find unacceptable. Then there was a comment that someone thought that was hilarious. I don't want to listen to the rest of it again to point out all of the other inappropriate voiceover comedy attempts. I love edgy or wrong comedy, but this is a very real and current problem. When innocent children are molested or exposed to any kind of trauma, it psychologically breaks something inside them that is irreparable and carried into adulthood to all different levels of dysfunctionality.
