Ya use can use any kind of wood trapdoor/button and dead coral helps to fall creepers into killing chamber

My paths that are under the button keep turing into dirt

It will not convert into path using shovel for that you can take path blocks using a silk touch tool and if you not have silk touch currently you can remove the buttons and convert the dirt into path after sometime when you get the enchantment you can add button again

Smaller one did you mean less layers if yes then you can make less layers but the rates will be deducted

The creepers are falling down really slow I did it with blue ice since it’s more slippery Any idea why

You have to only use ice if you use blue ice or packed ice the rates drop drastically so just use ice only. Hope this helps
