      Admittedly biased, but Cam Smith's par save at the Road Hole on Sunday. Backed his skill with the putter and didn't try for too much with the 3rd shot.

    • @shREDhead44
      @shREDhead44 2 года назад +7

      Cam Young’s putt on 18 for eagle. I know it wasn’t a winner, but if Smith dropped a shot at all those last 3 holes then that putt would have gone down in history.
      Other than that, Smith on 17 was absolutely nails. He WON that championship, Rory did not lose it.

      Perhaps, but I don't think that JD could have handled the pressure of 3 days of Ryder Cup. If things had gone wrong for him, he would have melted down. That's OK for medal play, but in a team event it would have been a disastrous distraction. Spots on a Ryder Cup team were too valuable to risk JD just walking off in the middle of an event.

      Lehman wouldn't take that chance, and it's a defensible position as a captain, in my opinion. Would've been interesting though. In today's climate, there's NO CHANCE you don't take him.
      He WAS popular, a rebel, bombed it, had a great short game, and was passionate. Fans today would dictate to bright tv executives that the aforementioned characteristics make him a necessary participant.

I carried the scoreboard for his group in the late 1980's and everytime he had a bad shot or missed a putt he would find someone to berate and insult or blame. I was carrying a scoreboard (as a 16yr old) in Curtis' Strange group at Colonial in Fort Worth in 1984 and would typically ask golfers for a golf ball or glove at the end of the round walking off 18th green. Every guy gave me a glove including Bill Casper, Lee Trevino, Ben Crenshaw, Tom Weiskopf and Gene Littler but Strange just scowled at me and said "You think these are free? Go buy your own" and when I asked for a ball he tossed one over the green and into the water and said "Go get that one". So I looked and him and said "Fuck you Strange" and walked off.

Scale back the golf ball and maximize tournament scale Drivers to 360ccs. Fact smaller heads at length swing faster. Its uo to the player to make solid contact and make the shot required

      IMO, it will never happen as the equipment manufacturers have spent too much money to make the clubs easier to hit and make the ball go further. When big money is involved, it talks loudly and no manufacturer would want to see their previous offerings obsoleted. That is, unless a bifurcation occurs, where the pros equipment is scaled back and the general public is not affected. But then, who would want to play "what the pros play" anymore?
