I was at the Open Museum at St Andrews several years ago and was discussing the various American golfers with several of the curators of the museum. We were discussing the various American that had won the Open. What I told that assembled group was that more than Arnold Palmer, more than Jack Nicklaus, more than Lee Trevino and more than Tom Watson; John Daly epitomized America.

JD will always be one of my favorite golfers!!! He has always showed his true personality on and off the course. Also, he doesn't care what ppl think about him and thats the true sign of a champion!

Imagine cleaning out a storage room and coming across two of the biggest trophies in all of sports, and certainly the biggest in golf. They've been awarding the Claret Jug since the 1800's for crying out loud! Shame on the University for treating the trophies & Daly like that.
Uark is a joke, I've worked and gone to college there. I'd have wrapped those trophies and drove them down to him if I had found them in a supply closet/my boss told me to take them out of casing at Broyles. Hoping if his kid goes there, that the new management and funding will help support him amicably.

I would remind everyone that there was a time that John Daly and anyone close to him were considered a costly liability.
His actions and lifestyle were extremely controversial. That’s why he lost all his sponsors.
