I wish I could convey to Aaron and the rest of the group just what an impact they have made on my life over the years. I'm honored to exist within the same small sliver of time as these guys. See you at Skully's later this year as usual. Much love from Columbus.

    Dear my newlywed wife,
You're not the love of my life
It had already passed my by
    Finally grasping the line
    "Casting pearls before swine"
One of the best Aaron's stanzas.
    Amazing work here

I haven't really dug into the concept of "Untitled" deeply, it's a pretty challenging thing for me (as english is not my native language), I know there are different songs written like plays with different characters philosophically interacting, but what I see as a person who occasionally writes poems, it may be just a portrayal of some certain state of mind of his, maybe he puts that into the position of a lyrical hero. What he says there is just a beautiful poetic encapsulation of an existential doubt or even despair, but not the dark one, ironic rather. That's how I personally feel it. If it has to do with his personal issues, I feel like it's more about capturing this facet of uncertainty and doubt which any of us embodies sometimes, which sometimes just pops out of nowhere and occupies us despite our will. I just had and continue to have a hard time with these mood swings, and these lines, based on how I interpreted them, seemed to speak really close to my own experience.

The way he delivers this is flawless (especially in the album) + the bands delay/fade out adds to the effect.
      They are masterclass.
It's so sad, like he's let her down.

Absolutely love this song. Can't get my head around the lyrics though, any idea what he is talking about?
'through the eyes of machines, immaculate scenes, that had already passed me by' sounds like some modern social media take but don't really see the connection to the rest.

Song in the beginning? It sounds like an instrumental of one of their songs.

Lynn Perez I wanna say it’s an older song like in a sweater poorly knit but I could be way wrong because I don’t know them super well

Me also. But it’s nice to see a “raw version” played in an entirely small and intimate setting. Such nice guys, great band and the new material is great.

LOVE this...but the last song is pretty brutal... toward his newly obtained wife...isn't it? Am I missing a more accurate context for it?

    • @fostert687
      @fostert687 3 года назад +2

Yes, that's correct. Aaron is telling his wife that's she's not the ultimate love of his life, although she then absolute love of his earthly life. Above all things, Aaron's hunger and love for God exceeds all things.

I read an interview a looong time ago and certainly before he even got married where he basically stated his idea of marriage still allowed him to remain a complete autonomous individual, not in a sleazy way but basically a religious monk who happens to have a spouse. I'm surprised Aaron didn't end up living on Mount Athos lol
