I like how you properly emphasized Queen's influence on MCR. I dare to say that Welcome to the Black Parade is the millennial's equivalent to Bohemian Rhapsody.
I'm a sucker for oblique motion-chords. Sounds great with vocal-harmonies, too. What makes the minor IV-chord great is, it creates a descending chromaticism from the 6th to the 5th of the root-chord. Also, you can contrast this with the regular major IV, and have a simple but effective chord-change. This song also uses it very well. So far still my favorite-song from you.
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your process on making the song! The insight on this video is insane! You have all the reasons to be proud of this song Trey! What an amazing work !
@@treyxaviermusic yeah I could see that, I was really impressed. I have the tendency to not really think how all the different parts can fit together, not only harmonically but also rhythmically. Also cannot mix for shit so keep mine to a minimum. 😂
One thing I like is that you also added those sprinkles of cryptic lyrics Gerard will add. Another thing is that MCR is known for their albums being concept albums and I could totally the song see the song belonging to a larger narrative. I also like how in this song and also every MCR song, it's the second verse that has the best lyricism.
Super fun song and a great lesson in tension building and resolution. I'm really grateful for it. Another piece in the puzzle. Less about how to get the sound and more about how to make the song make an impact. Very nice.
I love those Chris Liepe videos. They always and up in "uaaaaghhhr" Uaaaarghhgggg". I know he's good, but every video I'm just waiting for him to go there
Absolutely loved the original song and learning about these little parts you added just makes it all the more impressive, great job as always man, and for a future one of these I would absolutely love a vid on System of a Down
Not sure if anyone on this or the original video mentioned Save Face’s album Another Kill For The Highlight Reel - they basically figured out all this stuff and did a whole brilliant album of it
If you can do this for Tool in a 25 minute video, maybe share your secrets with the band so each album doesn't take a decade for them to complete. Thanks!
it wasn't a new song. It was one of their many songs they used to write their album songs. The new song you're referring to was the precursor to House of Wolves.

That's a good one! I'm gonna.... research it hahaha

It's like writing a musical research paper 👌
what's my grade

What an amazing work !
Had to stop the video to paint my nails black.
Love these styles of videos. Great to see the level of orchestration and development that goes into these songs.
I think I like doing orchestration almost more than writing the song hahaha

absolutely incredible. ok, I yield. this is too good. It is time to purchase your songwriting program.
Hell yes dude, leveling UP!

This whole video is great advice for captivating your audience all throughout a song! Thank you
Not surprised you’re proud of this one Trey, I’m really impressed!
You are hard channeling the spirit of Adam Schlesinger in these pastiche episodes! This is you sweet spot! Please do more!
!
Remember when Cort was a garbo guitar brand - still blows me away that they make these beauties now.
Great work as usual, Trey!
Thanks! Yeah all the guitars of theirs I've played lately are awesome
Their Curbow bass is one of the best things they ever made!
Great to see the process. Someone needs to tell My Chemical Romance to get on with covering this song.
You could be that someone
Challenge accepted.
Somebody needs to send it to them, they could do a pretty faithful cover
I love those Chris Liepe videos. They always and up in "uaaaaghhhr" Uaaaarghhgggg". I know he's good, but every video I'm just waiting for him to go there
Great video Trey! Love the Lavern and Shirley reference...haha!
Would love to see you try writing as Deftones! 🤘🏻

Ive learned so much from these breakdown videos! Thanks
dude i like your mix. sounds full. you achieved the sound really well
I will check out the other inspiration songs of yours mate. Well done 🤛
Mate amazing solos, the second one especially
Thank you! I like when I get to spend time really writing them
MCR always has great solos, Ray Toro fucking rips and it's awesome
Great minds think a lot. Amazing tune you created!
It’s like a research paper but in music form.
Not sure if anyone on this or the original video mentioned Save Face’s album Another Kill For The Highlight Reel - they basically figured out all this stuff and did a whole brilliant album of it
Super kick ass song, thanks for the insight
Great video Trey!
Please… can you do Ice Nine Kills songs from scratch? ultra compress drums, guitar tone, orchestration, voice, etc, etc etc.
Pretty sure you have an obsession with time machines
I don’t love My Chemical Romance because of the music I grew up with but I did love this video
My Christmas Romance
Dayum Cort - I straight up thought that was a Kiesel Aries at first.
Who else is here cause of the R.I.P Gear Gods video?
I NEED TABS PLEASE PLEASE I LOVE THIS SONG
Sorry, I never made tabs for it haha. I appreciate you digging it so much that you'd want to learn it though, feelsgoodmang
If you can do this for Tool in a 25 minute video, maybe share your secrets with the band so each album doesn't take a decade for them to complete. Thanks!
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if mcr was just a Christmas band in disguise because they did a Yo Gaba Gaba song about snowflakes
It would be funny if they heard this song and covered it !!
That would make my absolute life hahaha
Oh hi
Agreed, someone needs to send it to them

Great video! It's a little more enjoyable to watch you write in real time though, for me at least.
Yeah that's fun but also this took like 2 weeks to write so that's a long video hahaha
I never listened to them before
Old busted hotness. 👽
Minor 4 chord is god. The Beatles used it a lot
Do you mind if I do a ska cover of this song 😆
Why would I mind?
Relax on the slow zooms, even when you weren't zooming in and out, I still thought you were in a way similar to an optical illusion.
I am an optical illusion
