As I always say, wind & rain 🌧 always makes for great atmosphere. Also good to see it not being over-fired, as often happens, so not excessive amounts of black smoke
The weather that day certainly made it interesting! I didn’t realise that it’s over-firing that makes the smoke black…. I assumed it was because of different coal. You learn something new every day. Thanks 😊 Hilary
Oh dear, another wet one! Seems an occupational hazard recently. Thanks for sticking it out though, some great shots. My favourite was the std tank piloting, looking across the field. I think Mr Bulied should have had the prize for inventing non-stick steel, lol, they all do it. 🙂🙂
Ha ha; there’s always a bit of wheel slip! The umbrella got in the way of the rest of the double header shot. A shame, because I was drenched by then and was really only trying to keep the camera dry. Thanks for your nice comments 😊 Hilary
Fair play for getting some decent content on a really horrible day. I did like the last scene where it is going slightly uphill on a bend. There was also a very familiar whistling noise in the early scenes - and then the green Class 20 appeared!
Thanks, Tony. The foot crossing is usually very busy for a gala as you see he train comes into view, and there’s always a whistle. It’s the first time I’ve seen the crossing deserted! I think they got the 20 out because one of the locos was having a bit of trouble early on.
Terrific set, Hilary. At the start, I though that loco seems remarkedly sure-footed and immediately she slipped. Not surprising on wet rails. That must be a top quality gap you have on the microphone - the rain was very clear and not a hint of wind
Thank you, Mark. That wheel slip was actually just before the rain started; I can’t imagine how she got on there later on. The mic is a Røde; it seems to do the job pretty well for a small thing. It’s got cheap and cheerful dead cat on it, although that day it was more of a drowned rat than a cat! 😊 Hilary
I usually this engine regularly going over the Metrolink bridge when I'm going to do my Mum's shopping. ELR must have let it loose. I can't place this, where was it? 80151 should give me a clue, but no, senior moment!
Hi Alan. These shots are all on the Mid Hants Railway - or Watercress Line, all fairly close to Ropley station. She was down for the gala. I guess, back home at the ELR by now. 😊 Hilary
Lovely sight and a very Distinctive sound. Very nice thank you Hils 👍🏻
Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it. 😊 Hilary
Lady you are just unreal. out In all the rain and wind. well done.. getting rhe shots thank you..
Thank you. I have to say I felt pretty unreal once I was completely soaked through! 😊 Hilary

Same weather as here in Tasmania , except its spring rain here and autumn rain there , Great video ( as always ) , Thanks Hilary !
Thank you, Danny. Nice for you, heading towards summer. 😊 Hilary
@@hilsthetrainlady4683 A late summer Hilary , winter just doesn't want to go !
An umbrella? You're getting soft Hils 😂. Lovely shots despite the awful conditions, as always ❤️
Thanks, Roger. I don’t think I have ever been so wet and cold….and muddy! 😊 Hilary
Watching from Australia. Nice video full of atmosphere 👍🙂
Thank you. It wasn’t the best weather by any means, but it does give it a different feeling. Thanks for commenting 😊 Hilary
I’ve seen city of wells before two years ago at the seven valley railway
Me too!

Great video despite the rain, but tbh it ads to the atmosphere. Superb 👍🏻
Thank you ! I’m glad you enjoyed it. 😊 Hilary
80151 is a regular visitor from the bluebell railway which is 60 miles away
I did get some footage of her but it wasn’t very good, rain on the lens etc
@@hilsthetrainlady4683 yeah not a good weather Hilary
Regular visitor? It's never been away from the Bluebell before I believe
@@AndreiTupolev really andrei
Good video Hils :)
Thanks, Simon. 😊 Hilary

This loco looks like it’s struggling to get grip
Yes a bit of wheel slip. Nothing unusual 😉
@@hilsthetrainlady4683 yeah
Am I glad I didn't go until Sunday!
I wasn’t keen on going once I’d seen the weather warning!
@@hilsthetrainlady4683 I think you were very brave. I chickened out. Not that I mind getting wet, but I didn't want to get the cameras wet.
@@ronfisher2-railwaytravelvideos I managed to keep the camera fairly dry, but the microphone was soggy, as was everything I was wearing!
@@hilsthetrainlady4683 I'm not surprised. Still, we have to suffer for our art.
You really are an all weather lady aren't you. Thank you.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I think I need to invest in some more appropriate all weather clothing! 😊 Hilary
