I do not often comment, but after so many negative coments from people I have to. As an opera lover, as a tenor and Maestro Puccini fan. I can not belive that people can not see what a great cast Grigolo and Grigoryan are. Their chemistry is undeniable, the little gestures, the details to text, the expresions going back and forth in Che gelida...Si mi...O soave...is just amazing. Grigolo is a great actor, has huge charistma. He has a big, beautifull lyric tenor add that to perfect projection( heard him live recently twice) and great diction, and to add it also helps that he looks a part for the role to me he becomes THE RODOLFO. I doubt most would know, but he is 47!! Yes 47. And for her at such young age with that great, dark toned full lyric soprano, great technique, great acting and to be a match to him on stage with 20 years of experience is to me breathtaking. Well done!!! The rest of the cast, chorus, cameo roles are good too. I think set and costumes are wonderfull. It is not an opera I would think first of when presenting a production in such a big space like Arena di Verona, but it works. Well done to the entire team!!! Bravi!!!!
Yes, the production works on the screen!😉 in Arena it wasn’t very well organized… but actually it’s an intime opera, the stage would always be too big! (I was there😉 ). And i agree with you, the cast was wonderful!! Of course Grigolo is not my favourite tenor, but he did a great job! At least the first evening he did!! The rest of the music success of that evenings i would give the attention to the director Oren! Great job!
Thank you so much for posting for we opera-lovers! (I used to adore Grigolo when he sang at the Metropolitan several years ago; I don't know what happened, but he has many problems here)
The Mimì (Grigoryan? I'm not sure) sounds amazing, sometimes reminds me Freni in her middle and upper middle and especially in her phrasing (she probably heard very closely and learned a lot from Freni's legendary Mimì). Grigolo sounds good in some parts, not so much in other, but I notice A LOT of problems of coordination between his singing and the orchestra. The orchestra also seems to be having problems to accompany other performers, though not as much as Grigolo. I'm not sure this is the default of the singer(s) or of the conductor, perhaps too little rehearsal time to bring everything together...
GRIGòLO & "Musetta", all the time throughout 💎. "Mimi" less genious, but very strong 4th act. Beautiful voice! Rich singing 💯 Amazing "Marcello"❕Nice production. Singers' actings super! Audience must have had a great time.
A me è piaciuta. Buona notte a tutti e sempre w l' opera!
why do haters not just put down a thumb without stupid comments? On the other hand grigolo can be proud because you never kick a dead dog.. and he is alive
Such courteous applause throughout the entire performance - I would have thought these people were at a lecture series. I wonder if these people ever jumped to their feet for anything.
Eh yeah, its a lively street with bars, market and just people having fun. Why not have people dance in some bars or on the streets close to Café Momus
@FunkyNietzsche I agree with you - but the Problem was not the "dancing". The Problem was the "dancing" was 20th century BALLET. Ballet dancers don't dance ballet when they want to "have fun" and normal women and men (who are not trained ballet dancers don't do and never have done ballet in the street (of all places!!!) when they want to dance.
Well this coment coming from sombody who knows little about singing. I can tell you Sir that as a student and tenor having heard Grigolo live recently in Tosca i can tell you that he has a very large voice and great projection. Huge stage presence and great acting skils. Recording do not to justice to this great artist...Viva Maestro Grigolo!!!

Thank you.
English subtitle would be great! bc i want to watch this :)
A dirgli: bravo!

The Man is a Fake Poncy Tenor
as usual, the singing and the drama of Grigolo is disastrous.
He ends all sentences in Falsetto!

The Tenor is not Singing like a Man !
There was a ballet going on on the right most of the time 40:10 - adding a ballet into La Boheme? What on earth was the director thinking?
Also acrobat meanwhile.
Look for the green man clinging to the ring hanging from above.
Nice. Love it.

Horrible acting and singing.... Poor Mimi.
He's awful! Pitches all over the place, scooping up instead of hitting notes directly, and more like lust than love towards Mimi.

Grigolo. Dreadful singer, all ego and no technique- which is why he did not Last.
Where he did not last? He sings in A class houses, the hardest title roles. Just saw him in Tosca in Berlin and he outsang all the cast!!! Nonsence
