    I have the utmost respect for Paul Stanley. The Starchild has been the heart of KISS. He has been the hardest working musician in that legendary band! If it wasn't for Paul Stanley, KISS would no longer be in existence! KISS ROCKS AND PAUL STANLEY ROCKS!

      Absolutely. Paul Stanley is the real deal.

      Yep... have to agree. Paul Stanley is Kiss, not only a great showman and entertainer, but also a man to be respected. It just dawned on me the other day... Stanley was the guy who come up with and initially drew, with a pencil, the KISS logo and chose to be the pouting 'Prince of Love' 'as he called his character then'... All the early promo shots of the band were taken with Stanley and his bright red lipstick, blowing a kiss into the camera. Gene Simmons (he who loves the money 'and himself' so much) thinks he's the brains of the band, but it is, and always was... the man in the MIDDLE... Paul Stanley.

      @jeffrailey 10 лет назад +3

      Yelling Elk roger that! And also, when Gene Simmons was acting in 1984, Paul Stanley produced the entire Animalize album! He's been the hardest worker of that band and the most determined. God bless you, bro.

    His opening thoughts are absolutely true! As a former session musician Mr. Stanley is exactly correct!!

  • @rcknrol1

    Paul hits the nail on the head right here, especially the part about doing what you love. Don't think about it - just do it. If the passion is not there, you're just wasting your time. I truly admire and respect Paul's integrity, not just as a musician and frontman of KISS, but also as an inspirational human being.

    I hate when I read comments about, without Ace and Peter there is no Kiss. I love the original band, who doesn't? but not every one is in the same team. Peter and Ace had a choice, people doesn't understand that, Paul and Gene knew, playing in a band it wasn't only about the chicks and the wild party, they knew it was business, is not their fault if the others members didn't took this job seriously. Peter and Ace had their chance again and they blew it, Ace was always late and drunk for the shows and peter always complaining, so what would you do if you were in that situation? I admired Paul and Gene for never giving up, my blessing to you guys, I will see you in tampa florida 2014 can't wait, kiss army.

    Thank you Paul for sharing with us your wisdom. It's not often I can agree with everything someone says. Problem with the music industry today is everyone is looking for a quickie. There's too many TV shows promising the world and delivering nothing. As the AC/DC song goes "It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock n roll." Passion and talent are however mandatory. Parents should buy their kids instruments instead of video games.

    Paul is amazing, rock star, guitar collector and someone who always says it straight. If Paul likes the excitement of going off the rails as part of the feel of a real rock experience Ace would have provided plenty of those moments for Paul. And thats why Ace is the true rock star in Kiss.

    Great advice from someone who has lived what the Business is. Over 40 yrs on and still doing it to sold out crowds. For decades other bands said they rule the world. They are all gone now, and for quite some time. For whatever reason KISS has made an impact on what it means to be a band and believe in what you are doing. Their success wont be made by a modern band. Todays youth do what Facebook says. Everything is based on social media. Kiss wouldn't have made a dime if they cared what anybody thinks of them. They are by far the black sheep of rock. Yet, made millions more then all of them. So what does that say???

    • @mattmidnight.666
      @mattmidnight.666 4 года назад

      Social media doesn't mean anything, is shit, i believe that in a few years the internet will die, but before that, internet and technology will not influence our lifes, what Paul Stanley said is true, and in the future there will be millions of bands that will succed like KISS did

    When people start,it can be "music or something else",[perhaps it even should be];because,for some,they don't know when to hang up music,even when it's not working. for some,passion,devolves into obsession.

    I couldn't agree more, I have never liked Gene Simmons much but Paul Stanley is a cool dude. nothing substitutes a capable musician who knows how to work a crowd, guitar orientated music and technical musicianship has all but left mainstream culture in recent years with the exception of heavy metal, I wanna see another van halen, a mainstream commercial pop-rock band that also has really great musicianship

      Mark Cummins I almost agree. I love classic rock, metal. But if you watch Rhianna's evolution from pop star to now, she's one of the closest things to a modern rockstar we have. She gives zero fucks, performs topless like Grace Slick. Sometimes we look backward and see the present with so much angst we miss the talent right in front of us.

    Too bad Stanley didn't go further or more in detail about music, the art itself, composing, gear used, etc. He just sat there and talked in general terms (have passion, play for the people, have passion, play for the people, etc, etc lol) but evidently he doesn't have a real musical background like Rick Wakeman (Yes), Neil Peart (Rush), Kerry Minnear (Gentle Giant), Steve Hackett (Genesis). I do like the fact that he and others from KISS made fun of this lip singing, rap listening doppy generation but unfortunately he's far from being a great musician and composer himself. If KISS have had a keyboard player (instead of 2 guitarists), if KISS had the ability to composer longer pieces (over 7 minutes at least) and instrumentals also and if they had lyrics not about sixteen year old girls... they could have been a kind of american RAMMSTEIN. In other words, rock at a higher level. It's not like KISS members were totally inept. Fractured Mirror is a pretty good piece from Frehley (although it doesn't go beyond the initial them and is overall too short) and KISS should have ventured more in that direction, craftier musical pieces, more developped. KISS choose the easy road as far as playing and composing and it's a shame. They could have done better artistically, I'm sure. For those wanting to start a band: Get a keyboard player! More often than not, they are the ones with the most musical knowledge and they are the glue that brings all the band together. Guitar rock is lame and limited.
