My father-in-law used to get blacked up when he was younger before he died and was very good he used to sing in the clubs ,when we went in the local pub the blokes used to say take us down the swanee ted ,and we all had a good sing song many a night ,i miss those days He wouldnt be allowed to sing in the clubs blacked up these days if he was still alive
Met him when he did his tour in Milton Keynes have special memories of being excited to meet him at the stage door especially as Brian is my theatre hero he was so lovely and we chatted for ages! I gave him his present too Id made him and he loved it
Love al Jolson, loved Larry parks playing him in the two movies,he should have got an oscar for the Jolson story but politics etc,yep Brian Connelly excellent as al jolson.talented comic, actor and singer.😂
I'll be the first to admit that Brian Conley is no Jolson soundalike - if you want a pure Jolson soundalike then check out the likes of Clive Baldwin, or Norman Brook or even Ira Green - but as far as showmanship goes and putting the heart and soul into Jolson's life, this production including the acting, the music and even the set designs from 1995/1996, certainly took some beating.
Jolson never had the lyrics to Let me Sing in the order you did. Your impression is not bad for people not truly familiar with Jolson. About 85 to 90% accurate. Jolson had a thoroughbred voice.
Brian Conley is a gifted comical and straight actor and he can sing quite good, his Jolson act is very good as he emulates our hero Jolly and it pretty good, but he sounds like Brian Conerly which in itself is very entertaining, he got a great natural singing voice, Brian Conerly is a great entertainer and a credit to show business. @@mica412
I saw him perform this role at the Birmingham Hippodrome about 30+ years ago, he was fantastic.
Takes me right back to my father's two scrap books on Al Jolson and the films The Jolson Story and Jolson sings again starring Larry Parkes ❤
Thank you for posting this. I've been looking for this for years.

Sensational! Great to remember one of the greatest entertainers ever.
I saw Brian Conley on stage in Scarborough a few years ago
Brilliant Al Jolson Brian wow you are the best showman ever 5*

He is very good , the voice is excellent. I absolutely love the Jolson films which I have seen umpteen times. Larry Parks as Jolson was brilliant.
.
Absolutely brilliant Brian
That's incredible. Damned good.
This is garbage 🗑️
Saw the show. Excellent.
Impressive. The best imitation jolson I've seen.
Do you have the Joe Pasquale segment from the same Royal Variety show in 95?
It's all about Brian. Painful.
Never heard of him..but I think he does a Great Al Jolson. "K.C"....N.O.

Certainly does not sound like Al Jolson, but great show just the same!
Brian was using his own rendition , which he got awards for may I add so he did something right! It was the winner of Best Musical in 1995!
If you want to see a really good Jolson impressionist check out Clive Baldwin
Love Brian but he isn’t Al Jolson sadly.
Nobody is as close to the real thing than that
Brilliant Brian Cononley
Absolutely garbage 🗑️😂
No not even close! Jolson didn’t have a New Jersey accent. He’s Jolson only in his own mind.
Brian Conley isn't any Al Jolson, stick with comedy routines.
Nobody but Jolson IS Jolson but all the same he is a very good actor🙂
