      You're welcome! We just completed another big Alcatraz Swim and one swimmer said her experience was exactly like this video explained and that the guidance helped her have a successful swim. That's our goal!

      @@ODYSSEYOpenWater No problem. I'll be swimming there on the 15th of August for Escape from Alcatraz, but I've done that twice already and your video is spot on.

    Does this mean that the waves on the surface are going to be coming at me from the west, and thus breathing left is going to be optimal?

      Yes, exactly!

      @@ODYSSEYOpenWater getting there. Did about 1.2 miles at the lake this weekend in about an hour. Need to work on my strength & speed I think. A bit worried about the current. I hope I’m not in for a rude awakening.

      @@markcavandish1295 Keep up the work! Sometimes a few little technique tweaks can make a big difference. And lots of hard work in the water! Hope you get a chance to practice in some waves, too. The current can be tricky, but you're doing your research and getting ready.

    Hi - does the current go the other direction once you are closer to shore?

    • @ODYSSEYOpenWater
      @ODYSSEYOpenWater  3 года назад

      The current is generally outgoing the whole time but once you’re really close to shore there is a back eddy that pushes the other way.
