From what I hear, their boots are about the same when compared to any of the reputable boot brands out there. But Thursday is still making huge waves with them. They definitely know how to market, at least.

It's refreshing to see someone not totally fellate Thursday. Every review of theirs I've seen has been glowing. I didn't have a good experience with their boots at all and had to send them back. I realize that's just a single anecdote, but I think they're overhyped regardless.
Completely agree, they are definitely overhyped. I had to learn the hard way by wasting money to find out.

I'd like to give them another shot cause I do like the look of their boots, but man I just have a sour taste from my experience. I suppose I'm not really out anything since they do take returns and there was no problem there. It's just annoying to see all the hype around them, that's why I found your vid refreshing.
Their boots for $200 are quite good (especially the rugged ones!) but they don't fit everyone and you aren't going to get the construction of a $500 boot or anything like that. I got a leather jacket from them and was not a fan, thought it felt cheap especially for what I paid for it. If you're gonna go for a leather jacket, I think it's worth shelling out a bit more for higher quality.

Edit: lol I just bought the exact same jacket, except it's from a local Brazilian brand. Paid 600 bucks, the quality can be compared to a Schott. This thing weights 2+ Kg.

Tyler, Yes, you're correct full grain is the best type of leather and I do believe I mention that on this video. I'm not sure what you meant by "wrong about the leather quality" The $70 jacket is from India, which has many leather factories that attracts many popular brands like Levis, Guess, H&M and so on. Even Full grain leather has different quality from thickness to the quality of dye that's used and also it depends on the quality of chemicals and waxes used for tanning. Is it full aniline semi aniline- unfinished and so on. Also full grain can be Cowhide, Steerhide, Horsehide, Lambskin, and each has its own quality and strength and not to mention the difference in price. horsehide being most expensive and lambskin being the cheapest and weakest but that doesn't stop brands from selling $5000 lambskin jackets that over stretch and are more prone to rips. Schott Perfecto created the biker leather jacket and they use the best and highest quality leather since the first jacket in 1928 and all jackets are under $1000. A faux leather jacket can cost thousands simply just for the name brand. not many people know about Schott because they don't need to pay for advertisement to sell jackets like other brands. I
Just to be clear genuine leather doesn't mean what it sounds, in fact its the opposite. Genuine leather is the lowest quality leather, its made from bonded leather or Split leather that's been waxed and embossed with a grain like texture. It goes Full Grain, Top Grain/Corrected Grain, Nubuck which is mostly made from the outer side of the hide using top grain but can also be found made from full grain in luxury items. Suede is made from the inner side of top grain leather but now days mostly you find it made from the bottom split of the hide. Bonded leather is a shredded leather junk thats blended and mixed with an artificial rubber coating and embossed to look like full grain or top grain
I had that $70 jacket for over two years now and it's still holding up. I'm not promoting this jacket, the point i was trying to make was that the Thursday jacket was overpriced and not worth it. I
Having riden motorcycles for 40 years I have had every price range of leather from my first at 17 for bout 100 bucks to a high quality embossed leather jacket for several hundred dollars of high quality...also all quarities in between depending on the duty of the jacket at hand...not wearing a high dollar coat for bike camp trip for example....all have their place in a biking world....
Visually, the off brand & the NYC Schott perfecto look dope! The Thursday leather jacket looks the cheapest out of all of them!
Schott are built like a tank. Last forever. They’re made to save your skin falling off a motorcycle. Take longer to break in but no fashion brand will ever have the longevity or the magic of the real deal.

Probably made in india/pakistan/Bangladesh. Sheep nappa (lambskin essentially), goatskin and buffalo hide are pretty cheap here and once you have the jacket pattern you can start a production line. But, I haven't been able to fine a single one that fit me well off the rack. I had to get a size 40 with longer sleeves and an extra 1" at the waist. Helps to have places like these that gladly do custom pieces.
I bought a $180 leather jacket on the internet and it fit perfectly. I got lots of compliments when it was new. It began to wear out after two or three years, but it was certainly worth the money.
I still wear it, it has that distressed look. The pockets and the zipper are still good after about five years. I would have bought another one, but they are no longer sold.
I have an old First brand jacket that seems similar to a Perfecto. Very rugged, good heavy duty zipper, thick leather. My wife bought it for me second hand. The first guy wore it for ten or fifteen years, then I wore it another ten, before it started to wear out.

I'm going to drop this info for people to see incase they want to buy the schott perfecto jacket.
There's 2 main model for the perfecto wich are 118 and 618, 118 is made from naked cowhide(more supple and more broken in, soft to the touch) while 618 is made from steerhide(very stiff brand new and needs to be broken in first).
Also, keep in mind that the 118 and 618 has a different cut, 118 being more boxier and longer while 618 being tailored and shorter. From my experience it is recomended to buy 118 true to size if you want a standard fit or downsize for a more tailored fit, while 618 is the oposite, as you might want to upsize if you want a more standard fit.
I personally owns and prefer the 618 because of the shorter length for riding motorcycle (trust me, you don't want a long leather jacket when riding a motorcycle).
Also keep in mind that different year of production also mean a different cut. Just letting you know that so i advise you to check and ask around the schott nyc forum before you make your purchase.

@@maxloyd9682 when I put it on the first time, yes it is heavier than the usual leather jacket that I used. But after like using it for 2 weeks, my shoulder sort of gets used to the weight of the jacket and I have no problem using it for day to day use. Funny thing is, since the 618 is heavier than 118, I am used to wear the 618 so much that when I tried on the 118 it felt incredibly light on my shoulder.

Schott all the way. I own 4 jackets from them and they are all high quality. I exclusively shop at Nordstroms and they have a large selection of Schott.
1:37 zipper are tightened to prevent the sleeves from catching air at high speed while riding a motorcycle 🏍 every feature is functional...
Thursday boots may not make a good jacket, but their boots are definitely worth the price they're asking for and you shouldn't write off the company on the account of their bad jacket

You can find great deals on good leather jackets in auctions and forums because it usually takes about two years to fully break in good leathers like Langlitz, Vanson and some of the Schotts. A lot of people buy them as "fashion" jackets and then sell them because they aren't comfortable enough. Generally I only wear Vanson comp weight jackets on the bike (especially the track) and it does take a long time to break them in, but when they get there they feel like custom leather armor. I have a couple of Schott 618s that I sometimes wear on commuting rides and they break in nicely as well.

I believe the Schott Perfecto 118 is made with cowhide but the 618 is made with steer-hide.

Good video. Schott is the original maker. However, their product is above average. Personally, I like other American brands who make excellent products at a very good price. The made in Pakistan/India are excellent products for the price. Actually, there are some Pakistanian companies producing great nice jackets for under 200 dollars.
Totally agree with you. I purchased on Amazon a top premium quality motorcycle leather jacket for $139 and the quality is so superb. Very heavyweight and weights 5.49 pounds, plus come with a thermal zip out lining. Really love it! Also, it was made Pakistan.

Scented Style oh yeah, I did watch that one a little while ago , I just somehow didn’t put two and two together! I’m thinking about getting a size 34 (I’m a 34 in the chest) for a slim fit, but I didn’t want it to be super constricting!
Justin Marsteller it’s depends on which model you go for as the 118 is regular fit so getting your true to size (34) would give you a relaxed fit that can be layered easily. On the 618 it’s a slim fit so going true to size (34) would give you a slim fit look that’s slimmer on the arms and body.

Im a size 38 but Schott tends to make all clothes regular/baggy fit, so i had to go down to a size 36 size to get a slim/perfect fit. If you want a slim fit go down a size

How to order and How much
I was under the impression that Thursday Boot Co's jackets used Horween leather. I saw another guy review one and he mentioned that it was, other than having that unmistakable Horween patina. Is it just some jackets made from Horween or have they just went downhill in quality? Because, to be honest, a jacket made with Horween's Chrome-Excell tanning or that leather in general would be a steal for under $500. Thoughts? I've tried to research this but all I find are dead ends.
Only the brown version is Horween. The black version is not. Plus Thursday stopped selling both versions after this video was uploaded, Now they only use lambskin

Used to be a couple of hundred dollars under the schott perfecto, but now it's only $100 less than a Perfecto.

I love SLP boots (the shape and quality) my favorite boots of all time.
When it comes to leather jackets, the overpriced SLP looses easily. The perfecto is made of the highest quality leather available. Which is aniline/naked cowhide. It’s super thick and heavy, the quality will insure the jacket keeps its shape over time.
The SLP uses Lambskin which is the lightest quality leather and the worst part is it will stretch overtime to an oversized feel.
Simply put the to buy the SLP jacket would just be for the name. The perfecto are the inventors of the biker jacket and they still use the highest quality and all jackets are made in house in New York.
Scented Style not true, saint Laurent came out with lambskin and calf in different seasons. And you can’t compare an L17 to a Schott that’s simply not fair lol

I live in Mexico City and the size is different here
I’m 5’10, 160lb, chest size 38. In this video the perfecto is model: 118 cowhide. I had to size down to a size 36 to get a regular fit because they fit a bit baggy, however I also own the perfecto 618 steer hide which is slimmer and stiffer and also shorter in the waist and arms. On the 618 chose your correct chest measurement for a slim fit or size up for a regular fit that can be layered.
I’m working on a video of comparing both the 118 and 618 but to save you the time get the 118 for everyday use.
