I was 8 years old but clearly remember these commercials. The talk of our school because let’s face it we always were in love with the upper class girls. You were for many of us boys now men our first crush…and I love the honesty and how you’ve carried yourself through it all. So thankful that your mother was there every step of the way to protect and guide you. Many did not have the good fortune and were mistreated. You are an original and appreciate you sharing your thoughts and your side of this experience with all of us.
I wore Calvins at the same time Brooke wore them and I loved them. I actually still have them. I never even knew what the reference was. I did not understand the controversy and I didn't care because I loved those jeans and I loved Brooke.
Brooke is such a very special person!! She always excudes such Kindness and Grace. I have no doubt that she is a wonderful Mother to her two daughters!!!
Brooke is so intelligent and lovely. She’s had to be so strong to deal with all the media attention on her at such a young age. Remember when Tom Cruise had publicly put her down for taking antidepressants for postpartum depression? She’s a tough lady - i have a lot of respect and admiration for her.💙
I've always thought she was the most beautiful child and teen to ever grace the screen. No one else came close to her beauty. Absolutely stunning when she was young.
I highly agree and thankyou for bringing it to light..I might not like their content but it doesn't give any a right to bash and bully them.the way they do constantly
Still a beautiful doll!!! My first designer jeans were Calvin Klein and I was too cute in them!!!!! I also had very feathered hair and Bonnie Bell lipgloss!!!!!
Brooks natural intelligence and grace is why she survived her upbringing so well. Most young girls would have caved under the questioning, intrusiveness and exploitation.
I remember when these commercials aired and I was a teen. I remember thinking how is this girl my age so sexually aware? Now I know that she really wasn't and her innocence was being taken advantage of. I remember my mom and dad being shocked and my mom wanting to turn the channel. We didn't have a remote back then so by the time someone got up to change the channel the commercial was over. We were very protected. I remember when "The Accused" with Jodi Foster was on TV we were sent to bed and couldn't watch it. I was upset that they wouldn't let me watch it but when I saw it much later I knew why and was glad they made that decision. Teenagers should be protected in that way. I can see on Tik Tok that a lot of them are not and it makes me sad. That being said, I love Brooke Shields and think she is so beautiful and intelligent and a kind-hearted person. Nothing but love to you, Brooke.
Looking at these commercials as an adult, I am horrified, scared, and just saddened. I was a girl who just loved Brooke Shields. still do, but now it's with more respect.
My mom flipped out about the commercials, but I still went and bought the jeans. Calvin’s we’re better quality, fit better and lasted longer than the Jordache and Gloria Vanderbilt jeans I had at the time
I don't understand what is the big deal with theses ads...it was a CLEVER CALVIN KLEIN CAMPAIGN... its iconic and Brooke was so beautiful and was the Calvin Klein girl!, it's an iconic ad ..and we still talked about it to this day...well done Brooke..you're beautiful❤️
I was a teenager in the late 70's and remember my first pair of Calvin's. I remember they were worn with a dressy shirt and high heels. That was the style at the time. 💗
I think Brooke did more for CK than they did for her. She was always going to be successful. It was CK that needed the controversy but Brooke had to bear the brunt of it. So they used her in a way.
I love how honest Brooke is about her experiences doing these commercials, I totally believe she was just doing a job and never realized the craziness that occured after wards. She was an incredibly beautiful girl and everyone who hired her to do their commercials, knew she could sell the product, Brooke was too young at 15 to understand the impact it would have. Love seeing Brooke today at 56 explain her thoughts,...she is still beautiful.☺
What a beautiful, intelligent, fascinating woman. I loved hearing her thoughts about this campaign and her experience of it. We were absolutely crazy for Calvins in the 80s, and we were crazy for Brooke!
I've always admired her growing up in the late '70s and '80s. She is the most beautiful sweetest woman I have ever heard of and seen on camera. She was my first Barbie and there were no others I cared about. At my age she was the only Barbie that had the same color hair as myself. I hope Brooke Shields doesn't ever feel ashamed for anything that she has done as an artist. She always had class and always seemed to have a very genuine heart. I will always look up to her and love her.
It's so incredible for her to be talking about this years later and how normal and down to earth she is. Usually, famous women who get this much attention when they're young don't make it.
I can't believe there was so much backlash because those ads are iconic! They will be taught about in marketing classes for years as an example of great marketing!
Brooke was always level headed I enjoy her sense of humor. I don't recall Calvins coming to my area until late 80s early 90s. I do remember the commercials and we thought Brooke was hilarious. My friends and I thought she had a comical twist to it. My high school wore Jordache and Guess. My area was always ten years behind with fashion it seemed. CA and Europe were years ahead then the small city I grew up near.
I had almost 45 pairs of Calvin klein jeans, cords, and colored jeans, in high school. They fit me perfectly!! Great jeans!! Bring them back!!- high rise, straight leg, large pockets!!

You believed her???
Did you watch blue lagoon?
@@theresebouchie1248 yes
She wrote in her book that she regretted waiting until she was 22 to lose her virginity. She wished she had done it a few years younger. Maybe at 18 she meant?
I love Brooke and let’s also give props to a very young Kate Moss saying “no I don’t think so”
that was the in the script of the commercial she was filming. It was not her personally saying no.
it’s scripted
I helped create this campaign, I was the one who said that and the pictures were used in both my modeling and photography portfolio!
She was so beautiful and still is. I admire that she didn’t let show business ruin her. She seems very normal and grounded.
It was never Brooke Shields fault for “implying sexuality”. It was the people’s fault for interpreting something for what it was not.
They zoomed in on a 15 year old's crotch....nothing was "implied." It was obvious sexualization of a young woman.
A. Lee K. That's still not her fault
@@user-jb7tq7ko7e Never said it was. Stop trying to read between the lines. When you discuss "sexualization OF" someone, especially a minor, it most definitely is always the adults in charge who are at fault.
@@a.leek.9583 *young CHILD 15 year old girls aren’t women
@@Pink_pr1ncess Could you miss the point ANYMORE, you DOLT?!
It was my first time seeing that commercial today and I absolutely didn't see anything wrong with it until she started explaining how they sexualized it. I feel for her, going through all of that at 15
I was 8 years old but clearly remember these commercials.
Brooke is so classy and relatable…. Someone you would want to have as a friend. 💕
Absolutely stunning when she was young.
this reminds me of how people treat charli and dixie. the way media treats young girls in the spotlight is unacceptable.
I highly agree and thankyou for bringing it to light..I might not like their content but it doesn't give any a right to bash and bully them.the way they do constantly
I’m so sorry all of this happened to her :/
Still a beautiful doll!!!
She's always been so graceful, even with those prowling old men asking her inappropriate questions...

I've always thought Brooke was the most beautiful model I'd ever seen. Blue Lagoon is one of my all time fav movies too.
My mom flipped out about the commercials, but I still went and bought the jeans. Calvin’s we’re better quality, fit better and lasted longer than the Jordache and Gloria Vanderbilt jeans I had at the time
They should have discussed with her mom. She was only 15. Her mom must have known what was going on.
Of course her mum knew. Her mum was her manager.
Her mom exploited her innocence
She’s an extraordinary woman to be honest.
Brooke has so much class and strength. I’ve always admired her and been inspired by her. Love you Brooke! 💜
She may not have known the innuendo at the time, but she doesn’t seem to realize that the adults in charge DID and they used her
BROOKE SHIELDS... a legend !!! A 80's juvenil Icon!!! She made history !!!!
I was a teenager in the late 70's and remember my first pair of Calvin's. I remember they were worn with a dressy shirt and high heels. That was the style at the time. 💗
I aspire to be this beautiful, elegant and graceful. 🦋
Brooke Shields always handled everything with poise and professionalism at such a young age, very rare these days.
What a beautiful, intelligent, fascinating woman. I loved hearing her thoughts about this campaign and her experience of it. We were absolutely crazy for Calvins in the 80s, and we were crazy for Brooke!
Such an insightful and analytical explanation

I've always admired her growing up in the late '70s and '80s. She is the most beautiful sweetest woman I have ever heard of and seen on camera. She was my first Barbie and there were no others I cared about. At my age she was the only Barbie that had the same color hair as myself. I hope Brooke Shields doesn't ever feel ashamed for anything that she has done as an artist. She always had class and always seemed to have a very genuine heart. I will always look up to her and love her.
I love her so much, she didn’t deserve what she went through in the industry 🥺
It's so incredible for her to be talking about this years later and how normal and down to earth she is. Usually, famous women who get this much attention when they're young don't make it.
I can't believe there was so much backlash because those ads are iconic! They will be taught about in marketing classes for years as an example of great marketing!
She’s still so beautiful. I was so young back then so never thought anything of the commercials.
That's some killer eyebrows, i never understand why women so fixated with thin artificially drawn eyebrows
You are completely right!. Thin and articial shaped eyebrows make women to look like old or tansvestides.
Not anymorr. Caterpillar brows are back
Thick eyebrows are back now
The world has really changed. Brooke is such a class act
Please she is so confident i love her-
I had almost 45 pairs of Calvin klein jeans, cords, and colored jeans, in high school. They fit me perfectly!! Great jeans!! Bring them back!!- high rise, straight leg, large pockets!!
I adore Brooke! To come out so normal after her crazy youth is so admirable!
Brooke got sexualized quite a bit. Beautiful girls often are in Hollywood.
She's so angelic and these interviewers did her wrong.
She's aged so gracefully. I'm glad she didn't do anything crazy to her face, that I can tell.
She was always polite and gracious with intrusive and rude questions (Barbara Walters was always in this category)
