Ye....exact total opposite. There is a lot more in what she doesn't say here than what she actually says. I think she is definitely using denial as a survival mechanism because to admit to reality would be too fracturing. Doing what she has to do to survive an exploitative childhood when even her mother, the one who should have protected her, used her innocence and allowed the patriarchy to do so. She is even saying she doesn't know why people were so upset with her mother...not real. You would think at this stage she would have a different perspective. Maybe she does and understands that at this stage, better just let it pass...not worth opening up a can of worms....her mother not being here to defend herself and all. Good for her.

I sat next to Ms. Shields at a Tom Jones concert at The Aladdin in Las Vegas in I think 79 or 80. I was 21. She couldn't have been more than 17 or 18. She was with her Mom Terri. I remember when these commercials aired and I was a teen. I remember thinking how is this girl my age so sexually aware? Now I know that she really wasn't and her innocence was being taken advantage of. I remember my mom and dad being shocked and my mom wanting to turn the channel. We didn't have a remote back then so by the time someone got up to change the channel the commercial was over. We were very protected. I remember when "The Accused" with Jodi Foster was on TV we were sent to bed and couldn't watch it. I was upset that they wouldn't let me watch it but when I saw it much later I knew why and was glad they made that decision. Teenagers should be protected in that way. I can see on Tik Tok that a lot of them are not and it makes me sad. That being said, I love Brooke Shields and think she is so beautiful and intelligent and a kind-hearted person.
